Mostly because the main thing I was waiting for -- the video essay on Fallout 4 I wanted to watch today and expected to be long (and it was, just over an hour and a half) -- released rather later than I expected. So I ended up spending most of the day reading stuff on tumblr blogs and whatnot. *shrug* Can't complain, it was a RELAXING day at least. I've had much worse Sundays! The only major flaw is that it was kind of sticky and drizzly for a good portion of the day, so we didn't get to play our beanbag game. And tomorrow's supposed to be warm and rainy too, so -- we'll see how that ends up!

Anyway, the usual roundup:

-->I DID end up losing a good chunk of my morning to doing a quick system restore after I ran into the "group policy client" error that keeps my e-mail from properly updating, among other things. Fortunately I had a REALLY recent restore point -- it just took a while to actually restore. Meh. Another tick on the "should look into a new computer" checklist, I suppose.

-->I ended up playing Fallout 4 a little earlier than usual -- wrapped up the "Hole In The Wall" quest, and did NOT get infected with the disease thanks to my power armor! I have freed Curie from her little holding cell, cured Austin, and taken Curie on as my companion. :) So that's THAT mod (the one where wearing a full suit of power armor stops you getting infected with the disease) finally fully tested! That just leaves two more (and I am keeping it at these two despite my desire to maybe pick up a couple more from Zorkaz -- yes, the various crafting and resource mods look fun, but if you want to start your "official" playthrough on October 24th, you have to take a break from trying to turn Fallout 4 into Sims 4!) -- a mega-mod with various craftables, including baking, painting, woodworking, sewing, and tea-making; and my big weather mod. Looking forward to trying both out!

-->I did watch a little YouTube -- just not as much as I might have had I known when my essay was coming out:

A) Who wants to start with a silly video of Call Me Kevin clips without context? I actually recognized most of them, now that I'm watching them regularly, but that does NOT take away from the amusement factor, let me tell you. XD

B) Then – well, this one's a bit interesting because I watched it while trying out our new treadmill for the first time. Needed something to fill my two miles, so I put on the first episode of Jon from Many A True Nerd's Fallout 4 Survival-mode playthrough. Decently entertaining, good explanation for how Survival works (I am intrigued by it, but know that I'd consider it a hell-mode if I actually PLAYED it – having characters eat, drink, and sleep is good for realism and immersion, but bad for a Vicky who just likes roaming the map and is still coming to grips with combat against large numbers of enemies). I think I'll keep watching it while I exercise!

C) And then the big one, Jon's "Fallout 4 Is Better Than You Think" essay! An hour and a half of him going on about what he thinks works really well in the game – the crafting system (especially weapon modding allowing you to customize weapons and keep them viable longer) and the junk economy; the good integration of shooter mechanics and RPG mechanics; the revamping of SPECIAL (he actually LIKES that they got rid of skills, which surprised me as that's one of the biggest complaints I've seen); the way Boston feels like a real city with lots of unique areas and good use of vertical space; the way different enemies require different tactics; and how each faction feels unique (with particular props for the Brotherhood of Steel being scary but effective – they're making your life easier, making them tempting to side with, but a lot of NPCs don't trust them, soo. . .). It's nice to hear someone talk about what they like about the game, and how they feel it's an IMPROVEMENT on some of the other games in ways. And he's actually already got a Part II lined up, where it looks like he'll be talking about some of the less-good stuff and figuring out how that factors into what he thinks about the game. I'm ready! :D

-->Wrote some more on "Londerland Bloodlines" -- Alice has finished reading the Cathayan's e-mails, and has confronted him in the warehouse. They actually had some very polite chatter before he started shooting at her with his crossbow, simply because he respects her as a smarter and more resourceful vampire than most of the other ones he's come across, and Alice appreciates that. Not gonna stop him from trying to kill her, or Alice from hitting him with the Ocean House Hotel fire ax, but at least this guy doesn't just DISMISS her as a threat, you know? :p It's the little things. . .

-->And I just finished getting my Valice Multiverse queue sorted -- bunch of asks, one thread. Now I just need to answer DW comments. Which I can do despite the late hour because I took tomorrow off, yay~

And that's about it for today. Tomorrow's agenda -- I have Call Me Kevin and GrayStillPlays to catch up on for YouTube, more Sims 4 to play (probably gonna try and finish my tower renovation), and more "In A World Of His Own" to write. Nothing else really pressing -- oh, wait, yeah, I also have to make muffins! Because otherwise I'm out breakfasts for the rest of the week. Must remind myself of that. *nods* But that's about it. Hopefully tomorrow is a decent day (with a minimum of computer bullshit). Night all!
