Not a vampire, a case of mistaken identity. Apparently she got confused with RI's last vampire, Mercy Brown. And her tombstone, with that wonderful epithet, has been destroyed. *grr* Damn vandals.

RI seems a pretty haunted place -- a castle in Newport, an inn -- I don't remember them all. And of course, over in Fall River:

Discovery Channel had some forsenic scientist investigate the murder scene. They used luminol, and what looks like century-old blood showed up. They both concluded that dear Lizzie was the strongest suspect, and a forensic psychologist said that the reason could have been incest. Lizzie, a Sunday School teacher, had apparently been sexually abused by her father. They're not saying definitely that's the reason, but. . . .

They did call it the crime of the century, but that could be just East Coast hyperbole.
