November 12th the Junction of the Space-Time Continuum? I Think Today Gives It A Run For Its Money
First, there's everything that happens today in the BTTF world: Doc hits his head and comes up with the flux capacitor. Marty lands in Peabody's barn and gets himself shot at (again). Marty explores the town square and sees how long his father's been Biff Tannen's victim. Marty changes history and causes his mother to get a crush on him (ew). Marty ends up a guinea pig in Doc's mind-reading experiments, and manages to convince him that he is indeed a traveler from the future. Quite a busy day overall. Now, let's add in some other stuff:
-->According to the card game, today is Dave McFly's birthday in 1963.
-->In the NonTrilogy universe, Gypsy Rachel Robinson is born today.
-->In the Alice games, this is the day Alice's house burns down in 1863.
-->In all my Victor/Alice universes, their first son, Chester Emmett Van Dort, is born on this date.
-->In our world, today is Guy Fawkes Day in the UK.
So, yes, important day indeed!
-D: I should say. I'm surprised you couldn't find a link to Corpse Bride on its own.-
That would be hard to do given how vague the time is in the movie -- though my evil brain now wants today to be Emily's death date. *rolls eyes* I also kind of want Alice to have confronted Bumby on this date -- it feels properly symbolic.
-M: Sounds good to me. How are things with you?-
Good, mostly -- we had to get our THIRD Blu-Ray player today, though. The one we had suddenly decided it no longer wanted to play DVDs. My BTTF 25th anniversary DVD was skipping like crazy, and I KNOW I haven't done anything to it. We've ditched Vizeo and gone with an LG model -- picture looks good and things play, so keep your fingers crossed this is the one we can actually KEEP.
-TD: And if not, just give it to me. I'll make it work.-
I'm almost tempted, actually. Other than that, spent most of the day working on my art project and doing an little RP. Planning on writing some on "There's Always Tomorrow" or maybe "Secundus" before the day's done.
-OD: Either would be fine, though of course we vote for the former. *nods from the tentacles*-
Maybe I'll do a little on both. I gotta get back into the writing groove -- not in the least because I need to write a story for my sci-fi class.
-VD2: *intrigued* Oh? Have any ideas?-
Actually, I do. Remember how, back when I was planning "Secundus," I mentioned the idea of solar-powered steam? I want to do something around that. I even have a protagonist -- Anthony St. Jerome, headstrong inventor.
-TD: *laugh* Sounds good. You'll have to show it to us when you get it done.-
Will do. Right now, though, I've got creative impulses to foster, and tumblrs to keep an eye on. Oh, and an amusing note -- someone stuck in Doc inventing time travel on Wikipedia's page on November 5th -- right in the middle of a list which I ASSUME is supposed to be all real-world events. XD Anyway, happy birth of the flux capacitor (and lots of other things) day!
