Back To Work Again
Jul. 8th, 2020 10:54 pmAnd surprise surprise, today my direct supervisor was out sick. *sigh* Hopefully it's a minor complaint, like mine was -- my stomach's back to normal now, happily! Whatever it was, it's worked its way out of my system. (I'm inclined to blame Dad's birthday cake -- or, rather, the frosting. Mom couldn't use regular confectioner's sugar because Dad has a sensitive tooth that can't handle that kind of sweet, so she used a fruit-based one, and -- well, it left a sour aftertaste in my mouth. I think I just didn't "vibe" with whatever they used as the sugar substitute. I also kinda overstuffed myself on dinner the night of my second helping, which I don't think helped matters.) I kind of need him back in the office to go over a few things with him!
That being said, it wasn't too bad of a day back -- just spent most of it catching up on what I'd missed from the day prior. GLs took a while, but happily weren't TOO complicated -- no, it was mainly catching up with all the phone calls I'd missed that took me the longest! I managed to settle most of the callers' issues, though -- and those I couldn't, well, I knew where to refer them to, at least. AND I got a few checks on, at least! I was productive and nobody can say different.
Pretty decent afternoon too:
-->Came home and played the beanbag game -- I won the first round with some good throws, and then Dad won the second two games. I play a lot better when I'm not worried about my stomach, that's for damn sure!
-->Wrote some more on "Londerland Bloodlines" -- Alice is consulting the Krimeputer, and has found Toten's entry (and knows what car to look for) and Vandal Cleaver's (so she's ALREADY not feeling charitable toward him when she enters the clinic later on looking for Crumb's corpse). Just has to look up Crumb's name now to move her forward on that side quest. . . Also, I discovered something interesting while looking up all the entries on the Krimeputer on the wiki (so I could have the text ready for fic purposes) -- Muddy Durbin, the guy you're tracking through "Mudd Hunt" has a Corvega car, as detailed by his bond entry (it's what he put up as his bond). Why is this relevant?
Corvega is a brand from Fallout -- hell, you go into one of the factories to clear out raiders in Fallout 4! I knew the Troika gang was, at least in part, made up from people who worked on the first Fallout game, but it's pretty cool to see such a direct reference made! And really helps justify most of my weird crossover ideas with my Sole Survivor!Victor and Fledgling!Alice. :P
(Oh, and I forgot to mention this yesterday -- Chapter 10 of "Secundus 2" is underway as well! And shorter than I first thought -- I must have miscounted pages when I first highlighted the text, as it's only 18 pages long. I may still split it, though, depending on how I feel. We'll see what happens when I come to the split spot I mentioned earlier.)
-->Time for another GrayStillPlays marathon on YouTube! As a few of his videos have built up in my Watch Later. We had:
1. Another Episode – Met FloridaMacGuyver and his Skylarnet girlfriends! Basically, the plot of this one is that you're building a robot girlfriend to take to your brother's wedding, and it becomes a melting pot of infidelity, anger, and murder. XD Mainly because Skylarnet never takes well to having her outfit criticized, even by the bride. First time ended with Skylarnet 1.0 self-destructing and leaving FloridaMacGuyver to take the rap; second time ended with Skylarnet 2.0 and FloridaMacGuyver on the vacation of a lifetime because they remembered to hide the body and his brother (relieved not to be married) gave them his honeymoon tickets. XD I love this stupid game.
2. Learn To Brace – another game all about learning how to brace safely in a crashing airplane! Yes, they made multiple of these. Gray sent Karen to get smashed up in a couple of different crashes, and found that the game physics can make the limbs awfully – noodly in certain situations. XD Also came with some bonus Prepare For Impact (the other game about learning how to survive crashes) as an inspired Gray came up with a few scenarios for his characters to die in – namely, the tail ripping off on the runway, and landing in a river and drowning. XD Only he makes terrible airplane crashes look so fun!
3. More Grand Theft Auto V – and I finally guessed the right game upon looking at the thumbnail! XD To be fair, he's been using sharks in this game a LOT. . .and today was no different! Well, okay, today was kind of different – in that he was using FREAKING MEGALODONS. Man-eaters, no less, who terrorized the waves with tail slaps sufficient to send PLANES flying. And you don't want to know what they did to the police helicopters threatening them. It was GLORIOUS. XD I mean, he breaks this game in so many fun ways, it's just hard to stop laughing. XD
4. Stickman Annihilation 4 – kind of the more murdery version of Break Me Totally. In fact, I'm not convinced it isn't made by the same people – it has a lot of the same aesthetics and whatnot! Only this time, you're spawning in people to break, instead of trying to break yourself. XD Results included finding some fun ways to get infinite points (namely flipping the car you're using upside-down in a loop-de-loop and then spawning sticks on top of the tires) and causing absolute CHAOS with a police vehicle (best speed, ramming, and general mayhem out of all the currently-available cars – and that includes a freaking tank!). Oh Gray, never change. :D
-->And I just did my Victor Luvs Alice queue up through the first half of Saturday -- still deciding what I want for the second half. But hey, feels good to be a little bit ahead, at least. :)
Okay, trying to keep to the new "healthier sleep schedule" thing -- means it's time to answer some comments here on DW and then get off the computer and head to bed. Admittedly to read for a little bit before actually going to sleep, because I need that to help me get to sleep with the minimum of The Anxiety (tm), but still. I'm actually trying to go to sleep closer to midnight, and that counts for something! So yeah, off to do that now. Hopefully Thursday will go pretty well! Fingers crossed, anyway. . .night all!
