Emotional Lows and Highs
Jul. 9th, 2020 10:51 pmSpent most of the day in a state of perpetual grumpiness thanks to having to dodge people at the office all day today. . .and then, while watching Call Me Kevin videos tonight, I caught myself first imagining him on that new Sims reality show that's going to start on the 17th (I read about it on Sims VIP, it looks ridiculous, but Plumbella is on it, so I am torn), then imagining him and GrayStillPlays on it together, then me in some sort of online multiplayer game (which I would never play in real life) coming across them trolling each other and promptly trying to bully them into doing a Sims collab, and had a laughing fit so bad I actually had to sit down on the floor for a couple of minutes. Hi, my name is Victoria and the current state of the world has finally broken me. Though I think having one of my "panicky" nights last night and thus not getting a heck of a lot of restful sleep probably had something to do with that too. . . Hoping tonight goes better. I've been drinking lots of water because I suspect I'm also a bit dehydrated too (usually I drink bottled water at work, but I haven't been lately because of -- well, everything. Also the last couple of times I tried, the water didn't taste great). Anything to help the mood!
Anyway, in this rare period where I'm actually sort of calm, let's discuss my day:
-->Most of work was spent doing a file for our processors, updating what I could from the exceptions, and filling out write-off forms. Maybe not my most productive day, but I did what I could with the time I had -- and, again, without my direct supervisor. He still wasn't feeling 100%, so he took today off too. Hope he's okay tomorrow. . .though it's not a big deal if he isn't, given it's a half-day. Yay summer Fridays. . .
-->Early afternoon was spent paying off my credit card and trying to do puzzles, as it was too hot and humid out to play our game. Just -- you went outside, and the very air was thick, bleh. Tomorrow's supposed to be a little better. . .but then again, it's also supposed to RAIN, sooo. . .
-->Post-supper, wrote some more on Chapter 10 of "Secundus 2" -- I'm basically just having Doc and Victor talk about their love lives and how their reactions to "holy crap a girl is interested in me" were pretty similar. And how much they really do love Clara and Alice, respectively. Probably unnecessary fluff, but I still like it! We'll be getting into the more actiony stuff soon, now that Marty himself has arrived on the scene.
-->As stated above -- I've been watching lots of Call Me Kevin compilations lately – why not Kevin himself? :p Including:
1. An unreleased Saint's Row game for the PSP! Remember that? I don't! XD Anyway, this was Saint's Row Undercover, where the conceit was that you're an undercover cop infiltrating the gangs and doing stuff for them. Or it would be if the game had ever been finished. We had stuff like invisible hair, terrifying NPC models, cars that would bounce and spin wildly at the slightest hit, and so many unfinished missions Kevin had an easier time falling through the world than completing anything. XD But he did get to beat up some junkies with a prostitute's stiletto boot, soooo. . .
2. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets on the Game Boy Advance! Apparently a game from Kevin's childhood, which he remembers playing a lot when he was sick. (So, uh, yeah, topical.) He quickly got a reminder that a) graphics were just barely a thing in the early handheld days and b) games were a LOT HARDER back then too. XD Just navigating Gringotts was a terrifying maze of fire and falling stalactites! Never mind trying to get through Hogwarts. . .poor Kevin did the best he could, but eventually had to give up in the dungeons, because sneaking around Filch proved impossible. Ah well – maybe we'll get a sequel episode some time in the future.
3. Cube World, one of those vaguely Minecraft-y games that were all the rage in the early 2010s (this one's from 2013). Though instead of building, this is an RPG where you go off on quests and fight monsters! Or, if you're Kevin and his tiny fellow Big Man, you fail most of your quests and run away from the monsters! XD Hell, he was actually pursued across half the map by one very determined possessed bee guard – he only shook it by siccing it on one of the quest givers! XD He also tried to find himself a pet, to no avail – everything he encountered that could be adopted, he didn't have the right food for. (Did you know collie dogs apparently like bubble gum?) But he ended the video having found some really nice armor, sooo – win?
4. embr Uber Firefighters, a little game where you become an app-based firefighter, taking on clients like an Uber driver, after receiving your training at a funfair. As you might imagine, that premise plus Kevin means things got chaotic very very fast. XD He actually made an effort to find and save people in the fires (and only killed two!), but he also made MORE of an effort to find everyone's hidden safe and cash stashes. Because, you know, firefighting only pays so much (especially when the company you're subcontracted to takes a cut!). Delightful silliness in the classic Kevin way. :)
-->And I just finished up getting my queue for The Valice Multiverse sorted for tomorrow, yay~ :) Now I just have to answer the comments I have on here and I'll be set. Yes, still trying for the earlier bedtime. . .I might switch out my music, though. I was trying to go BTTF for the month of July, but my air conditioner tends to drown out parts of certain tracks due to variable sound levels, and the silence is when my brain likes to really go to Panic-Town, so. . .yeah, something else might be good. Trying to work with myself to see what'll keep me healthy and sane. And out of either "hair trigger temper" range or "hysterical laughter" range. Night all!
