Grumbly Friday
At least in terms of my time at work. . .and the weather, as the temperature is dropping over the weekend. Possible snow flurries Sunday night! That'll be fun -- hopefully nothing that sticks! *shakehead* But in the meantime, here is my usual to-dos:
Work – Another annoying day – GL took me ages because I had to get other stuff done first thanks to an early closure at one of our vendors, and then I had to try and track down a discrepancy on it; I found another case of credit card bullshit that needs resolving; I ate lunch late because of that and because of trying not to get in the way of some of my coworkers in the kitchen; said coworkers were very loud and irritating. . .basically every actual workday this week has been so frustrating it feels like I might as well not had the extra days off. *sigh* At least now it’s the weekend, I get two in a row!
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – one final time on the bike this week, today watching “Reacting to THAT community survery... shocked and appalled tbh” by The English Simmer! This was her reaction video to James’s survey video that I told you about before, where he created a pack ranking with a community survey, and – well, the title says it all, really. XD Her opinions are not often the community-at-large’s, and it showed – she was stunned that My Wedding Stories and Dream Home Decorator scored as high as they did (even with the former’s great world score and the latter’s excellent build mode score); said that Get Famous definitely deserves more love both for gameplay and world; and admitted she’d personally rank Seasons lower than second because she doesn’t feel it adds THAT much gameplay. And, like me, she felt Vampires deserved better. As she put it at the end of the video, though, all this survey really does is prove that different people have different desires when it comes to packs – there’s never going to be one true “you should TOTALLY get this” must-buy. What I want out of my game and thus my packs (occults, university, crafting, skilling, fun little vacations to interesting locations) is gonna be very different from someone who prefers Legacy challenges, or someone who wants as much realism as possible, or someone who enjoys build mode over everything else. Variety, spice of life, blah blah blah. XD
2. Continue writing gift fics: Check – edited yours today, Gigs, about Chester’s first color. I think it came out really well, so here’s hoping you enjoy! :)
3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Check, plus a bonus video from the Watch Later – hopefully in a good place to tackle that AT4W this weekend!
A) Started with the latest OXBox list – “7 Times Games Roasted The Haters!” Andy, Jane, and Mike took us through those games that, upon being criticized, chose to roast their critics. You found Dark Souls too hard and bitched about it? Dark Souls 2 has an achievement just for you when you die the first time – “THIS IS DARK SOULS.” XD Played The Stanley Parable, decided you didn’t like it, and then sent an e-mail to the developers telling them how horrible their game is and being vaguely sexist for no real reason? The devs are gonna make an entire TRAILER out of the Narrator reading your review in a funny voice and mocking it mercilessly. XD Discussed your worries about the upcoming Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel game on fan forums? Well, the game’s credits are going to mention the two top forums by link in the credits, along with a mocking note saying “thanks for the laughs.” And then Interplay is going to go under and this fairly dull entry in the series is gonna be swept under the rug when Bethesda takes over the franchise (until Jon of Many A True Nerd does an LP), so I think the haters won that particular argument. XD
B) Then it was over to the Subs for today’s Josh Way offering – “SKETCHY: Calimero and Pierrot!” AKA “due to some misleading information on Wikipedia, Josh draws an Italian cartoon chicken.” XD Yeah, the first character, Calimero, is in fact a chick who wears their old eggshell as a hat, but due to the design of his beak being not THAT sharp, Josh was temporarily fooled into believing he was a duck. Pierrot is the ACTUAL duck of the two, and much more obvious about it with a larger beak and actual mallard coloring. Josh enjoyed drawing both, however, and said that Pierrot was a particularly interesting challenge as the image Josh found of him was of a modern CGI version, so he was taking a 3-D rendered character and bringing it back to 2-D. And he expressed an interest in doing that with more characters, including Laika stop-motion characters. . .which means I now have a tiny hope of seeing Corpse Bride characters in these videos (because the movie is TECHNICALLY a Laika production – it was the movie most of the staff there made before becoming Laika). Nice. :P
C) And finally we had GrayStillPlays and “When you evolve every species for 1,000,000 years,” aka Gray plays Monster Lab – Freaky Running! This is another one of those games where you start as a human and then mutate yourself, unlocking new parts to use by running across a course, avoiding obstacles and killing people trying to shoot you – only in this case, you’re not unlocking animals, you’re unlocking monsters! Monsters ranging from Huggy Wuggy (from Poppy’s Playtime), to a weird cartoon cat thing, to the Grinch, to a knock-off StayPuft marshmallow man. Also occasionally you get to play as a money man picking up money. XD Gray delighted in trying to unlock more and more monster parts and making some truly freaky combinations, and in smashing apart the people trying to block his path. Simple game, but very fun with his commentary, as per usual! :P
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check – two ask replies and a submitted-funny-picture-reply in the queue on Valice Multiverse, w00.
*nods* Not bad, not bad. . .and now I'm just doing a bit of the social thing before I head to bed. Tomorrow is Cleaning and Crafts Day (cleaning my room and getting my coworker gifts sorted), but I also hope to fit in at least one AT4W, more Sims 4, and of course "Londerland Bloodlines: Downtown Queensland." Hopefully that all works out! Night all!
