Distracted Monday Times
Jan. 8th, 2024 11:56 pmBit of a hard time concentrating today, I'm afraid -- for some reason I felt really wound up a lot of the day. :( Maybe because, deep down, I really wanted a snow day. . . *shrug* Anyway, I have managed to tear myself away from a reddit thread discussing why Us (my brain friend from BG3) is different from other intellect devourers to give you this update:
Work – Well, fortunately for me the roads were reasonably clear this morning, and since so many schools had delays, traffic in was really smooth. (Traffic HOME, however. . .well, they changed the traffic pattern for the exit I use, AND there was a mysterious back-up on the highway for one particular exit – not sure why yet.) The day itself was pretty quiet – I did the GL, I took a few calls, I did a bunch of roster maintenance. *shrug* The day admittedly started to drag in the afternoon, but I’ve had worse Mondays!
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – another night on the bike, working my way through another GrayStillPlays compilation video (the one he uploaded right before Christmas, in fact) – “100 ways to ruin human lives!” As usual, we started with a bit of new content, which was Gray playing a drink-mixing game apparently called Full Liquor Bar – though, sadly, he didn’t do his famous line. He DID, however, blow up the bartender by shaking a glass of lemons too hard, made him vomit with a poorly-made Cosmopolitan, got him to belch fire with a glass full of nothing but ice (and then the dude had the audacity to ask for MORE ICE), and then finally killed him by making him drink a mix of everything available in the full liquor bar. XD I then got through one of the Boombit “smack this person across the map into a target, earning cold hard cash for every thing you smash them into” games (this one themed around fighting people – a boxer, The Karate Kid, a Viking, a medieval knight, a random dude off the street, a giant spider. . .), and I just started the Jeff’s Island portion (where Gray must help Jeff survive by gathering logs to stoke his fire and build his hut, gathering water in coconut shells, and using the power of dreams to beat up sheep for goodies). Ahhh, memories. . .
2. Continue writing “Start At The Beginning. . .Sort Of”: Check – I’m past Victor explaining what happened to him (and how he does genuinely feel sorry for Emily, if not sorry enough to remain married to her), and up to Emily having found him at the Mangled Mermaid! Which, after her initial elation upon finding him again, and initial confusion upon seeing him with Alice and Smiler, she has just realized is a brothel. XD We’re now up to me editing my “Discoveries” snippet, where the gang discover that the same guy who murdered Emily is now after Victor’s current fiancee – this should go pretty smoothly, I hope!
3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Check – just the one GrayStillPlays video today: “Climbing a ladder to space but chaos happens every minute in GTA 5!” A special chaos-themed Alex Torture Board, this one featured Gray having to climb various ladders and stairs up to the skybox while being tormented with a special Alex chaos effect every minute or so. Alex WAS nice enough to both add a couple of instances of power-ups and a checkpoint partway through, but for the most part it was just Gray experiencing extreme suffering for the delight of his audience. XD Climbing invisible ladders and such up various rotating bits of construction equipment to reach the next platform? What an excellent time for the bouncing box of the DVD Screensaver to turn up! Trying to get up a “folding” set of stairs (where the platforms turned on-end every so often) using a one-time teleport of a few meters? Gray had better learn how to teleport out of range of the bees he just saved! Running desperately around a rotating cube of stairs with 2X animation speed, trying to find the route to the next platform and the precious checkpoint! Why not hit Gray with the EXPLOSIVE TACO DIARRHEA – wait, hang on, the explosions propelled him up far enough that he was able to parachute to the checkpoint. O.o XD Er, anyway – Gray trying to super-run and super-jump his way up a huge set of stairs before the timer ran out on his power-up AND while avoiding various red circles on the ground that would set him on fire for being a sinner? Excellent time to break out the Simon Says or the sideways gravity! And Gray desperately YEETING himself up the final staircase, avoiding with all his might the ghost windmills occasionally phasing into reality along the way? Let’s alert the guards so he has to deal with people shooting him the whole time! Hell, even when he made the win, he first had to put his hands up and surrender to Alex. XD But he DID get there, and it was freaking hilarious. XD I love a good GSP torture episode – either giving OR receiving. XD
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check, or enough of one, at any rate – just had to worry about Victor Luvs Alice today, and I got the fifth post of my six-part Chill Valicer Save update all sorted with image alt text and tags, and managed to do alt text for maybe about half of the images on the sixth post. *shrug* So there’s still something to do tomorrow before I start queuing everything, but I’m still counting this as a check. :p
Not too shabby -- would have liked to have gotten more done on the Chill Valicer Save posts, admittedly, but circumstances forbade. Meh. But as it is, I'm gonna head to bed (and probably cuddle my own plush Us one more time) so I can do this all again tomorrow. Night all!
