crossover_chick: Doc looking very sarcastically over his shoulder (BTTF: in a sarcastic mood)
Which I know is at least partly because of my whole "on my period" deal, but -- well, you'll see when you look at the below --

Work – Fairly shitty day at work, I’m sorry to say – the commute in was pretty trafficky; my coworkers were talking politics behind me again this morning; I found a piece of plastic in my chicken salad sandwich at lunch (last bite – Mom thinks that the corner broke off the container and fell into it); and I saw a mouse under my desk at the end of the day, so the facilities people have to set up traps there now. >( So that was all fun. I did manage to finish that roster maintenance file I was working on and start some obituaries, and get another QC file for our regular Appeal billing finished, but – ugh. Very glad tomorrow’s Friday.

To-Do List

1. Get in a workout: Check – another night on the bike, another night with “This is a great way to make money! Tiny Town challenge! - Part 3” by James Turner! We had another half-hour’s worth of adventures with Vivienne in this episode, including –

A) James starting a club gathering for the five siblings currently in the Tiny Town club to socialize (as he couldn’t set up any other activities as Vivienne, given Pablo is the one in charge of the club) that ended up coinciding with and including the Welcome Wagon. James was hoping for the siblings to hang out together more, but the majority of them insisted on gathering outside the property line instead of hanging out in the middle of the town like he wanted. At least Vivienne got free fruitcake out of it!

B) James sending Vivienne out and about to complete her writing, as she can’t do anything at home until she actually gets enough money to put her own computer under cover – generally to the library and the “Celebration Center” rec center in San Sequoia (the former because it’s obvious, the latter because it has showers and a way to make food). This scheme is working out pretty well, as Vivienne has completed a few more books (including one bestseller!) and is leveling up her writing skill pretty quickly – but he HAS also learned about a certain fun bug in the game where, if you leave a book unfinished and then travel, your progress on that book is reset. And because Vivienne keeps getting writer’s block and having to do stuff to fix her needs – well, it took her quite a few tries to finish her first book of poetry! Also, for some reason she keeps being unable to sleep for more than three seconds at a time, forcing James to save, quit, and reload off-camera.

C) James learning that Pablo ADOPTED A BABY while he was in control of Vivienne, making him go “WHAT?” And then being utterly confused because, well, he TURNED OFF the horror that is Neighborhood Stories, so how did that happen? The best guess he has is that Vivienne discussed “expanding the family” with Pablo at one point during the previous club gathering, and that prompted him to adopt. James has said that he’s keeping the baby, but he’s tried fiddling with some stuff to hopefully make sure it won’t happen again because NO. XD The save file is being all sorts of fun this episode!

D) And James letting Vivienne have one non-writing related outing by sending her off to the Flea Market with Camillo when he called her up to ask to hang – though he did take the opportunity to earn a bunch of aspiration points because he wanted the Creative Visionary trait for her so she’d have a better chance of writing masterworks (which he did indeed get during the bit I watched today, so yay there).

*nods* So, yeah, things are progressing – reasonably for Vivienne, let’s say. Like, she doesn’t actually have a house yet, but she has written four books, which are earning steady (and steadily increasing) royalties, and she’s been keeping up on all her needs without too much issue (despite bugs). I left it off with her hanging out in the Copperdale Library to write some books for a little change of scenery, while also waiting for Father Winter to show up for Winterfest. We’ll see how that works out for her tomorrow. She needs a good present to sell, Clement! James wants to actually build her a house sooner rather than later! XD

2. Start the final editing pass on “Londerland Bloodlines: Downtown Queensland” Chapter 3: Check, though not as much of one as I’d hoped – I started later than I wanted, and I’m still adjusting to editing directly on AO3 instead of in FF.net’s Document Manager (which is still fucked, but at least still useful for getting the code I need to make things look right on AO3). Not to mention, this chapter is an EXTRA-long one at 46 pages long in Writer. *wince* Gonna be at this for a while no matter what… But I’m three pages in, past the opening scene of Victor arriving and showing off his Bio-Bot butterflies to Alice, and I’m taking advantage of the fact that I’m editing directly on AO3 to note down Easter Eggs and stuff in the post-chapter notes as I go. Hopefully tomorrow after game night, I can get through at least Alice’s initial meeting with Fat Larry!

3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Substitution Check – the only thing in my Subs was another GSP compilation (looks like more mobile game nonsense), so instead I watched the sole OXBox list for this week instead – “7 Huge Plot Holes That Get Worse the More You Think About Them: Commenter Edition!” Jane, Mike, and Andy talking about those weird narrative inconsistencies in games that can really bug you if you start pondering them for any length of time. Questions like, why didn’t Booker DeWitt of BioShock Infinite just take the airship the game tells him he has to crash to fulfill his debt to the Vox Populi and fly out of Columbia with Elizabeth? How did Amy Rose get to Prison Island before Tails in Sonic Adventures 2? And why are the time-traveling entries in the Zelda franchise so fond of bootstrap paradoxes (the particular one called out here was from Oracle of Seasons where you get an heirloom vase from a Goron in exchange from some food, then bring it back 400 years to give it to that Goron’s ancestor, who wants an heirloom to pass down, in exchange for some Goronade)?! Questions that we may never have an answer to...unlike “why don’t they make more Gray Wardens in Dragon Age: Origins when the original set are wiped out” (answer: it’s actually much harder than Jane realized to get all the ingredients for the Warden-making potion, because one of them is a drop of Archdemon blood. Fair enough!).

4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check and check, even if I didn’t do much for each –

Victor Luvs Alice – Didn’t really have much time to do much picture sorting this evening, but I did get ten more pictures done for the upcoming Chill Valicer Save update! Bringing the total up to 45 now, I believe...we’ll see how far I get tomorrow!

Valice Multiverse – One ask from Toonsisters for the queue, with her asking the Cuddlepile Valicer trio if they ever had crushes on fictional characters...while stating that she knew Victor had a crush on a character from a favorite book series (which rather confused Cuddlepile Victor). Alice responded that she knew of the concept, but her sadly-abbreviated childhood means she never really got the chance to form any fictional crushes when young; Smiler, meanwhile, was the victim of me being “crap, what the hell would they have been into in the – 2000s? I think? Fuck it, go with franchises I know and claim their parents were into 80s stuff” and thus ended up with crushes on Optimus Prime, Egon Spenger from the original Ghostbusters and Jillian Holtzmann from the 2016 reboot. XD I mean, I think they do fit them!

So yeah -- not the best day, but I got some stuff done, at least. *sigh* And now I'm heading to bed. We'll see what tomorrow brings. Night all.
