Somewhat Grumpy Monday

crossover_chickDidn't have the best start of the work week, I'm sad to say -- though at least my evening was better than the rest of it --
Work – A rather frustrating Monday to start things off, unfortunately – day started with having to hear my coworkers yap about politics, and it didn’t improve much from there. The GL took longer because my coworkers were yapping, preventing me from getting a report I needed from one of them; I ended up playing a round of phone tag with someone I’d called because their original credit card pledge hadn’t gone through, and she kept calling when I wasn’t available (we FINALLY connected late this afternoon); and a bunch of tasks for me to do came in over my lunch break (which was also kind of late), so I spent most of my afternoon scrambling to catch up with those. I mean, I did fix up some credit card stuff that I’d been waiting on, which was good, and I got out of the office on time, it was just – bleh. We’ll see if tomorrow’s any better!
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – back on the bike, back with the GrayStillPlays compilation “When you find every possible way to destroy Earth!” Today I finished off the Universe Sandbox stuff with Gray throwing increasingly-fast and increasingly-explodey tiny asteroids at the earth to see what happened (ranged from “freezing and then boiling the planet” to “total supernova annihilation of the universe that caused graphical glitches in a new game”), then moved onto the Solar Smash part of the compilation! Starting with a video about hacking the alien weaponry (like making the drills that are supposed to bore into the earth so weak they could be repelled by Orlando, or spawning so many destroyer ships they shot through the planet and started destroying each other), and most of a video about hacking the “meteor shower” natural disaster (Gray playing around with trying to give Earth (or whatever was left of it when he was done) rings before just making bigger and bigger meteor clouds to throw at the planet). We’ll finish that off and see what other horrors he has in store for planet Earth tomorrow!
2. Continue working on Multiamory March prompts: Check – and yes, I have accepted the reality that if I’m going to finish a full month’s worth of prompt fics, I’m going to have to put my other projects on hold for a bit until I can get more of said prompt fics done. *shakefist* This is why there needs to be more hours in the day! But I was reasonably productive today, happily –
A) I finished off the first drafts of fics for “Day Nine: Queerplatonic Relationships” (a Modern!AU sequel to the “Relationship Anarchy” prompt fic from Polyship Week 2024, with Alice discovering the word “queerplatonic” and being like “why didn’t you tell me about THAT when I was stressing out about how to define our relationship” to Smiler) and “Day Twelve: Explaining/Mapping The Polycule” (an all-dialogue fic set in the nebulous “Running Into The Bullshit” verse where Victor, Alice, Smiler, Victoria, Emily, Christopher (aka human version of the White Knight), Richard (aka human version of the AMA Hatter), Preston, and Piper (both from Fallout 4) are all in a nine-person polycule, with Smiler explaining the web of relationships to an unnamed third party with the help of Richard’s visual aids)! I went a bit out of order because I already had an idea of what I wanted to do for Day Twelve, and I really wanted to write at least two fics today, so here we are.
B) I also came up with basic ideas for a few more prompts –
I. “Day Ten: Meet The Family” will be a Modern!AU fic with Victor and Alice meeting Smiler’s parents Matt and Carol
II. “Day Nineteen: Chatfic/the polycule groupchat” will be another “Running Into The Bullshit” fic, with the gang trying to arrange a time to hang out together
III. “Day Twenty” had its “Time Travel” prompt replaced by “Dancing” so I could do a fic from my “all the fairytales AU” about how Victor fell in love with his partners – not at the ball, but at a wild party in the village where he was staying incognito for a while
IV. And “Day Twenty-One: Dreams” will be a “Multiplayer Wonderland” fic with everyone hanging out in Wonderland, having a picnic and talking about their various domains
Always good to know what the hell I want to write for a prompt!
3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Check – just the one GrayStillPlays video tonight: “GTA 5 but there's Custom 5 Stars!” Yes, in keeping with their initiative to find new and creative ways to torture Gray, the GTA V team came up with “custom wanted level” challenges for Gray to complete, all of them worst than the last! In order, we had –
One Star – Gray having to escape Lindsey Lohan’s dog army as he ran through the movie set looking for an escape vehicle – if he got knocked down and mauled, he would die of severe groinal trauma
Two Stars – Gray having to find a way to trick a bunch of “police robots” (a quartet of drones and a couple of RC tanks) into falling through through holes in the floor before the drones sliced him to pieces, the tanks blew him up, or a police helicopter showed up to REALLY ruin his day
Four Stars – Gray having to outrun a “flock” of tanks (a giant circle of hovering tanks in the sky that chased him) by using the Super Run to race down a roadway, avoiding all the walls in his way and trying not to fall off the sides
Five Stars – Gray having to deal with the Space Police chucking cows at him and slowing him down with their tractor beams as he tried to find the right car that could take on their floating TRON road covered in various rampy bumps, with teleporting tightrope sections and an alien firing the Up-N-Atomizer at him near the end
Yeah, as you might imagine, things were chaotic right from the get-go. XD Like, Gray did manage to complete each challenge (escaping the movie set in a smart car; getting all the robots through the floor holes; outrunning the tanks; and eventually escaping the Space Police in the side-by-side), but he died a LOT in the process. So very, very a lot. XD But it was a fun time – I do like when they get a little more creative with the challenges! Hopefully the custom wanted stars will make a return in the future.
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check – just Victor Luvs Alice (N Smiler) to worry about today, and I spent a bit of the morning and a decent chunk of my evening getting Day Four and Day Five of the Multiamory March prompts in the queue and ready to go, and Day Six started. Taking longer than I hoped to get all this done, but I’m still ahead of the curve, yay.
Whew -- lot to get through! And now I really need to get to bed. Hopefully Tuesday will be a little better -- night all!
