Early Start, Early End

11:16pm: Yes indeed! I was successful in getting to the library on time to open it up - in fact I was like twenty minutes early, but better to be safe than sorry when it comes to getting somewhere on time.

Plus, it did mean I got to finish half an hour early and thus get to the post office, buy some more overseas stamps (damn they're expensive) to send more Christmas cards off to fellow figure skating fans.

In further good news, it looks like the magazines have started up again after the big schemoozle with the re-subscribing a few months back. The only downside? I need to open new orders which I've never done before and the person who used to do the magazines won't be back in the office until Tuesday. It's a bit awkward because my supervisor was telling me to meet up with said colleague to learn how to do this, but yeah...we haven't got around to it. So now I'm not sure if I should risk following the instructions my colleague wrote out or sit on the new magazines until Tuesday. I wonder if our Branch Manager will be in tomorrow, if so maybe I can ask him about it.

Right, so I've kind of left it a bit late to start this entry, but what else is new? I did get some good Sims 4 action in which is much appreciated, plus no freezes this time, yay! Still no luck breaking up couples though... Aubergine's last kid is now a child, so at least I don't have to worry about having to take care of a toddler :OP

Right, I need to do Duolingo before I turn in, so I'll wrap this up now.

Dogs on Socks

10:43pm: Well, I better make this quick because I need to get my butt to bed so I'll be ready to go tomorrow for the opening shift I'm doing at the library.

However! The reason for my subject line is that after all my looking around I still haven't been able to locate one of my sausage dog socks. I have no idea where it could be...maybe the washing machine ate it? So I gave in and bought another pair, I considered getting ones with a different coloured background, but I like the purple one, so I didn't. I'll search for the other sock one more time - because you know how it goes when you buy a replacement for something. And I will admit I haven't cleaned up my house entirely, so it could still be hiding somewhere.

In other news, I'm a bit annoyed at my Sims game, it froze twice this evening when I was playing which sucks because I was making some inroads in Aubergine(my Eggplant Gen Sim)'s aspiration - breaking up couples is hard, at least if you don't want to get romantically involved. Then again Aubergine is an evil, heartbreaker so maybe I shouldn't care, LOL.

Anywho, that's about all I have time for, it's almost 11pm!

It's the Tax Man

10:47pm: Indeed so, I finally remembered to do my tax - I think I mentioned previously that when I tried to do so a couple of weeks ago, the website was down for maintenance and I kept forgetting to do that, shakes head. I hope I got all my tax deductions right, I don't have very many, although I couldn't find any evidence of my Project Compassion donation back in March, I'm pretty sure it wasn't much though. If the estimate is correct I'll only get like $200 back, but hey a refund is a refund!

In other news I've been feeling kind of dizzy during the middle of the day and I was starting to wonder about my iron levels (do I need to start taking those iron tablets again?) and while looking up what causes Iron Deficiency I discovered that apparently high calcium consumption can interfere with iron absorption. Which if true is a bit awkward, because I consume cheese like it's going outta style...I should probably make an appointment with my doctor again.

I'm watching the SydSquad Plane Spotting YouTube right now, apparently it's their third stream of the day, I'm a bit sad to have missed the first two, I assume they were in the morning or afternoon when I was at work. And I just saw a plane do a go around - never seen that before! I wonder if they'll be able to land or if they'll have to go to some other airport - Sydney Airport has a curfew and it starts at 11pm. Man, that would suck, imagine getting almost to your destination and then having to turn back! Still, better to be safe than sorry, especially when it comes to wind and stuff.

Right, it's actually past 11pm now so I better hit the hay, I'm still trying to get my sleep schedule back to normal.

My Sleep Hygiene Sucks...

11:07pm: After yesterday night's entry, I was all set to go to bed - but spoiler alert - I did not... And now I'm most tired. I really do need to get back into better sleep habits, I'm still wondering if last Thursday's unpleasantness was a result of a lack of zzzs.

In which case, my butt should totally be in bed right now, not typing this up! It's not like I even have anything exciting to report - although I did finally catch up with those Ghosts episodes, yaaay! :OD My internet was still being an ass, so it took a while. Not sure what that's all about, this time I wasn't watching YouTube or anything.

In other news, I keep forgetting to do my tax, which I really must get onto! Of course, that will have to wait until tomorrow evening, since there's no time now.

On a final note, I was most worried this morning, that I might be on the Opening Shift at work - I keep forgetting to check the roster at work because the dang thing often changes. Fortunately, I wasn't especially because I was a bit late this morning, gulp! However, I am on this Thursday, which means I don't think I'll be able to go over to my parents house on Wednesday, which is a shame, but them's the breaks.

And now, I must flee, I need those zzzs!

My Shirt!

11:01pm: Well, much to my dismay, even though I followed the instructions and everything, the iron-on transfer I did for my Back to the Future: the 40th Anniversary is starting to peel off after I washed the shirt. :O( I did attempt to iron it back on, but I don't think it worked. This is a bit of a worry because I made a Pusheenimals shirt for the Union Picnic Day (we usually go to the zoo), and I wouldn't want it to fall apart. The package the iron-on transfers came in said they could be washed and I did it in cold water as instruction, so WTF?

In other news, Dr Gluon has had a super long stream all day - it's actually still going now! But I don't think I can watch to the end because, there's work tomorrow!

It was also Archery today - a Handicap round. The weather proved to be hot and humid, my glasses actually fogged up a bit. I'm relieved I didn't wear my long-sleeved shirt! Although in sad news, the free Zooper Doopers (a frozen popsicle type thing) are no longer free - I'll have to bring in money next week to pay for them. They'll only be 50 cents so it won't break the bank.

Now, I have been watching Dr Gluon most of the day, but I did try to catch up on Ghosts earlier, but it wouldn't work :O( No idea why...I exited YouTube on the TV, but perhaps I needed to turn off the TV altogether because Australian internet can be a real butt. I hope I'll be able to watch those eps tomorrow. I bet discussion will have already moved on on Discord.

On that note, I better wrap this up and finishing hanging up my laundry - which I finally did so hey that's one thing I ticked off my "To-Do List".

Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner!

11:11pm: I've probably used that title before, but it's quite apt for today because I did indeed have roast chicken for dinner with my parental units this evening after going to church with Dad (it was the primary school next door's turn to do the Mass) and this morning I scored a PB at archery, hooray!

Speaking of which I have archery tomorrow morning, so I'll have to make this quick...

I just remembered I forgot to catch up on Ghosts! Which I'm judging myself for, because the episode from two weeks ago was Trevor-centric and he's my absolute fave, what am I doin', people? :OP

I also neglected to do my laundry...on the upside though I did wash my hair, so that's all nice and squeaky clean for the next week.

There's also...

The Friday Five

21/11/25: TV Time

These questions were originally suggested by heartovmidnight on LJ.

1. What's your favourite TV network? In all honesty? I'd say YouTube, which I know isn't a TV channel but I'm watching it a whooole lot lately so... But if I need to pick a channel...I guess Channel 10, all of my favourite comedy shows are on there, even Ghosts - eventually :OP

2. If you could create your own channel, what would it be? Like a TV channel? Hmm...that's a toughie... I used to really enjoy the Crime & Investigation Network and the Discovery Channel. Plus I do enjoy the house shows on 9Home, so maybe it'd be a channel for the ADHD people with lots of different shows on, LOL. I'd definitely have Jeopardy episodes on there, because I do love a quiz show.

3. What TV show did you watch as a child, that you wish they would bring back? Hmm...I guess new episodes of Inspector Gadget would be pretty cool - as long as they were good! And I wasn't a child more like a 20 year old, but it'd be cool if they brought back Sale of the Century/Temptation, which was another fun quiz show.

4. What show have you always hated, and wonder why they ever made such a dumb show? Pretty much all the reality shows, especially the dating shows. In particular Married at First Sight, apparently there's psychologists on that show - I assume they must have been struck off now, because damn do they not care about the "Do No Harm" thing.

5. What TV show's seasons would you buy on DVD? Ghosts! Definitely, Ghosts! The first season was released, but none of the others so far. Rude TBH.

Okedoke, I need to dry my hair before I can go to bed, so I shall wrap this up now.

Skating's On!

11:17pm: And I have to go to bed, whoops... but that's what happens with most events because of time zone differences. Ah well, at least I'll get to see some of it. It's Pairs skating, I haven't actually seen much of this season for reasons I don't know.

Moving along, since time is short, I'm happy to report I feel much better and was back at work today - yay! Not much to report though, two of my colleagues were actually away on flex leave, so it was just three of us. Fortunately, the new item delivery yesterday wasn't too big so we got through them all - well my other two colleagues did, I was catching up on some other stuff.

After work I got a lift to my parents place and retrieved my car and my mobile phone pouch which I left behind yesterday - whoops! Which reminds me I need to do a better job at keeping up with my emails, because I actually drove without comprehensive insurance on Wednesday because I missed the email telling me my policy needed to be renewed! Fortunately, because I was originally on my parents policy, Mum got an email about it and let me know. Shakes head.

Anywho, I better get myself to bed because I've signed up for archery tomorrow - fingers crossed the rain stays in the clouds during the morning! - which means I need to get up early!

On a final note, I really need to keep up with Ghosts! I'm two episodes behind! On the one hand that means I get to enjoy nearly an hour of it, but on the other it means I can't discuss it with my fellow Ghosties on Discord. Tsks.

And the Friday Five is up, although alas I don't have time to do it... tomorrow will have to do!

Well, boo...

10:39pm: I had to take a sick day from work today, I woke up feeling fine...but then my digestive system decided to rebel and I ended up feeling weak and dizzy and not up to driving home in my green car and then going onto work. On the plus side I do have quite a lot of sick leave, on the downside...staff a very thin on the ground at the moment, I sure hope no-one was too put out. I am feeling better now, so *fingers crossed* I should be OK to go in tomorrow.

I did end up getting back to the apartment, except not in my car, Dad had a physio appointment so I caught a ride with him, which means I'll need to go back to the parental house at some point to get my car back. I hope the birds haven't got to it, although apparently the hose in the apartment parking lot is working now - last time I tried to use it, the tap was turned off so hard I couldn't turn it.

Not much else to report, except that after some months I had my last appointment with my physio about my left shoulder, which I hurt way back in June. I couldn't lift my arm about my head and reaching out to grab things hurt like Hell. But, I managed to commit to the exercises - mostly - and it's now back to 100%, wipes brow. The physio has left me with three final exercises to keep up with, which should keep the shoulders in good shape.

I better head to bed soon - although SydSquad is streaming from Sydney Airport right now and a 747 is taking off soon - man I miss the 747 - so I"m tempted to stay up to watch that. I should at least brush my teeth and everything so I'm ready to turn in as soon as it does.

I Got Nothin'

11:18pm: To say really, except that the closing shift went fine - huzzah! - and I'm here at my parents place for the night, so fingers crossed the Lite n Easy shows up tomorrow morning before I need to head home in the morning.

Also I think a mosquito bit me because I'm itchy, which is not cool...Mum sent me out to get the washing from the line at like 10pm! :OP She and Dad did provide me a very yummy steak dinner so what can you do?

Another benefit to coming over is that Mum hasn't sent off the big Christmas package she's sending to my big bro and his family (since they're not coming this year) so I get to add a Christmas card to them. Although that reminds me, I need to get onto sending out my Christmas cards as part of the figure skating forum I'm on, otherwise they won't arrive in time!

Not much else to report, except I can't believe that last week I was seeing Back to the Future on the big screen... Good times, good times.

Now, I have to go because I haven't done my Duolingo yet and I don't want to lose my streak!

Late Start To Tomorrow

11:01pm: But that's no reason to stay up late tonight - I say as I start writing this at 11pm :OP

But yes tomorrow I'm on the closing desk shift at the library, which means working until 6pm (so nothing too awful), so I've decided not to start until 10am tomorrow. That being said, I know that time will sneak up on me tomorrow morning and I certainly don't want to be late.

A quick update of what's happening, I have just freed up some space on my laptop, which I probably should have done before playing The Sims 4 because it was being awfully laggy with me. I did get my two Sims grown up with a cake - thus avoiding the sad "No-one remembered my birthday" moodlet, which was my aim. I also tried breaking up another couple, but no luck. Boo hiss, it totally worked before, but I didn't save that game so...

What else to report? Not much, I did have a one-on-one with my supervisor today and things are going alright on that front - which after the last couple of weeks is a relief! I do wonder when the magazines will start showing up again...probably not for a while yet.

In the meantime, I've been cleaning my apartment at a very slow pace indeed...and I still haven't done my laundry, I mean I'm not running out of clothes yet or anything, but get with the program me!

On that note, I should wrap this up, like I said I want to head to bed before midnight because I'm not getting enough sleep and I know it catches up with me - today for example I felt super dizzy in the afternoon, I almost skipped the gym, but fortunately I felt better by the time work finished.

Need to Clean Up My Computer...and My Apartment!

11:20pm: The common cry of the Moose...my apartment is still a mess, even though I had a half day at work today so plenty of time to clean up the place, but did I do it? Nope. I did have some pretty bad 3:30-itis though and even ended up taking a nap! Shakes head.

As for my laptop, I was playing The Sims 4 and it was being seriously laggy, which I hope can be fixed by freeing up more space and isn't some weird problem with the game. Although I don't think the latter makes sense because the big update was last week and I've already updated my mods.

Anywho, considering that I had to take a nap this afternoon I really should be updating way earlier than this, but yeah distracted by Sims, because beyond the lagginess, a bizarre thing happened where one my Sims aged up twice completely skipping a life stage! I quit without saving, because WTF, which meant losing like an hour of gameplay, boo. I have no idea why it happened, the Sim in question wasn't blowing out candles on a cake or anything. Hopefully, it won't happen again this time around! Playing the Sims on normal lifespan is something I'm not used to I have to say, there's been so many birthdays in a row!

What else to report? Not much, although I also neglected to my laundry, shakes head, man I'm an adult I swear!

Well Shoot Me Down

8:10pm: Right, I'm about to play Sims so I better update this now before I do otherwise I won't have enough time to do so as evidenced by last night. Not that I had anything super exciting to update, it was a Saturday shift for me, so no archery. It also proved to be a very busy start to the shift because we've got this new printing system (OK it's like 3 months old now) and it's really quite shit. Although in its defence it wasn't actually the problem, the problem was a locked file and a patron who couldn't access their email on one of the public PCs because you gotta have all these passwords. Long story short, despite our best efforts we couldn't figure out a way to print it out.

Onto today, where I did have archery and despite a less than auspicious start - including shooting two of my arrows on the wrong target O.O I totally smashed my PB! Like almost 400 points better. Gooo me! :OD On the downside, I managed to bend the nock of one my arrows before I even started shooting. Sigh, I'm gonna have to buy some nocks.

In other news it was hot and humid today! Which meant after archery I headed home to my air conditoning and YouTube, I also meant to do some tidying up and my laundry, but uhhh....let's not go there. :OP I also should have washed my hair. I'm an adult I swear!

OK, here's...

The Friday Five

14/11/25

These questions were originally suggested by alysonl on LJ.

1. What's one of the nicest things a friend has ever done for you? Hmmm, gee...my friends have done lots of nice things for me, it's hard to pick one! I dunno, just being there for me I guess.

2. What's one of the nicest things a stranger has ever done for you? One time I had a panic attack on a train and it was so bad I was literally running through the carriage, just wanting to get off - when a lady noticed my distress and asked me what was wrong and let me sit next to her and helped calm me down until we got to my station and I could get off.

3. What is a trait in another person that you instantly admire, and that draws you to them? Uh, hmm...I guess being funny? That's always appreciated!

4. What is a trait in another person that instantly repels you, and prevents you from forming a close relationship with them? Being an asshole, which I guess is pretty obvious LOL, maybe being condescending. Don't give me that shit.

5. Time to vent: tell us about something rotten someone has done to you. When I was in Year 6 (so 11 years old), some horrible classmate used a pair of scissors to chop up my Garfield pencil case, bought in England (and thus not available to purchase in Australia), thus destroying it. And even though the teacher kept the whole class back during lunchtime, no-one ever confessed or ratted anyone out. So yeah, fuck that person.

Uh-oh...

11:56pm: Yeah, so I didn't do this entry before starting to play computer games this evening and look what's happened, I've got less than four minutes to write an entry.

I don't actually have all that much to say, except I managed to leave my bus pass, staff card and office key at my parents place (I keep them all in a Pusheen shaped pouch), fortunately Dad was able to bring it to me in the afternoon and as it happened the morning bus was running late so the bus driver turned off the pay machine thing (which I'm pretty sure they do because it means the bus is trackable on the apps, although I'm not actually sure why because I feel like that would be an obvious indicator that the bus is running late, but whatever...) which meant I didn't have to pay for my trip to work, so that was handy LOL.

On the work front, on Wednesdays and Fridays we're supposed to be helped out by colleagues - who are there to open the deliveries and get all the books out in a quick manner. However, the Friday guy wasn't in today so we had to do it ourselves, which kept me busy which was good because with the magazine ordering calmed down and my colleague who now does the Inter Library Loans now back.

Speaking of work, tomorrow is my half-day on the weekend, so I better haul butt to bed right now so I get a decent amount of zzzs.
