Whoops, Running A Bit Late
Time got away from me as I was talking to my tumblr friend Squid about Sims things, so let's get up the to-do list and then get moving:
Work – Another “just busy enough” day – though I spent most of my post-GL morning working on a new credit card pledge issue I found with a particular donor. *grumbles* Just how I wanted to spend like an hour and a half of my time. . .well, at least we’re caught up with gifts now and I’ll have enough to keep me busy for the short day tomorrow, yay.
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – another half-hour on the bike, another – slightly less than thirty minutes with Jon’s Original FO4 Playthrough! Finished off episode 10 today, and oooh boy was it a doozy. After killing the Legendary Razorclaw and its friend, Miss Jon left Dogmeat chilling in the hallway and ventured deeper into the State House, finding a great massive hole to drop down – a great massive hole that contained her first look at a Mirelurk Hunter (aka Death Lobster). She attempted to escape out a nearby set of double doors, but found them locked – so, after dying and trying again, she sprinted past Death Lobster into the side halls to find a way to unlock it. Along the way she encountered five million tons of rads and a whole heap of Mirelurk Hatchlings, but eventually she found the terminal that would open her emergency exit, overlooking the pit of despair she’d have to run through first. She decided to see if she could get off a few good shots against the Hunter first while she had the high ground –
Cue A FUCKING MIRELURK QUEEN appearing and Past!Jon nearly saying “fuck” on channel. XD Also cue poor Miss Jon dying a LOT as she learned that Mirelurk Queens are nasty bitches with nasty acid that can kill you really quick. Eventually she managed to kill the Hunter with one of her better guns from up above, then managed to sprint past the Queen, through the door, and into safer areas.
And right into raiders, who apparently thought the best place to set up camp was next to a bunch of Mirelurks. XD And Miss Jon had to take out not one, but two Legendary Raiders as she whittled down their numbers, with Past!Jon baffled about the whole “why do they get their health back when I try to kill them?” mechanic. XD She did actually more or less clear out the place, and even got a nice piece of Cunning gear for her right arm! Also a Sentinel’s chest piece, but Past!Jon decided he didn’t want it on the basis of a) its special effect, extra damage reduction while standing still, didn’t suit his playstyle and b) it ugly. XD He did pick up some dog armor and a red bandanna for Dogmeat though, which were equipped once Miss Jon found her way back to him. And then they promptly left the State House because fuck that Mirelurk Queen. XD Next time, Nick Valentine!
(Also, because the episode ended before my workout but I didn’t want to start the next episode because I’m planning on taking tomorrow as a “break” day, I watched a bit of a video “Simmer Erin” made on The Sims 2 and how the team back then actually thought about wants and fears when designing things like aspirations and the dating system in there. I do miss proper wants and fears in The Sims 4 – have no idea how you’d implement them in the current engine, though.)
2. Write some more on “Learn To Love Again”: Check – Victor’s gone over his worst actions during his time in the Land of the Dead, namely tricking Emily into bringing him Upstairs again to “meet his parents,” having her catch him on the verge of a kiss with Victoria, then the whole “I would never marry you” scene. He fully admits he was an asshole there – Alice agrees with that, but also says that Emily might have realized he wasn’t on board with marrying a corpse earlier. *shrug* Girl, she was desperate, what can I say. :p At least Victor gets to redeem himself with the piano duet apology next!
3. Keep up with YouTube Subscriptions: Check -- two in, two out on the Subs front today, so I was able to sneak in another video as well --
A) As per usual, started with James Turner and the next episode of the Cottage Living LP – though this episode was all about the building! He’d INTENDED to do some actual gameplay, but building up just one side of the farm ended up filling a half-hour of YouTube time, so. . . XD It really came out nice, though – he put a cute formal garden (or a “folly,” perhaps) in between the two oversized crop fields, complete with a little pond, a “house” for Patchy, all the various rabbit and bird homes, and some memorial tombstones for Cowlene and Lenny. He also turned the double-greenhouse into one longer greenhouse for all the little crops; moved the golden chicken coop over by the garden and gated them in so they could roam the crop fields helping out there; properly fenced in Hencatraz on the island; cleaned up some of the crappier debug items; and made a front entrance complete with a little “selling stall” for the selling table in case the boys end up using that again. It’s all very cute and I really like it. :) I mean, it’s not being shown off to best effect right now, given it’s winter for the boys and it’s snowing hard, but once spring comes back around, we should be golden. XD
B) Then it was over to Call Me Kevin for – well, the comments suggest it’s called The Town With No Name. Whatever it is, it is a truly terrible game that looks like it was animated in MS Paint, sounds like it was voice-acted by three bored stoners who’d watched too many classic cowboy movies, and feels like a fever dream. Hell, one of the endings (yes, there are MULTIPLE ENDINGS) involves getting right back on the train when you arrive, shooting a child for getting your name (or lack of one) wrong, and then going off into space because reasons. Kevin was laughing so painfully at the horribleness of it, poor guy. He stuck through it to the end, though, where it was revealed that six people were murdered due to a misunderstanding. I want to say this was a joke, but I get the feeling it at least started out as sincere. Best worst game he’s played in a long while, for sure. XD
C) Then, because Gray wasn’t posting for the plebs, I went over to The English Simmer in my Recommendeds and watched her follow-up video regarding the “pack refresh” – “Judging YOUR ideas for the game pack refresh!” Basically just her going through some favorite comments about stuff people would like to see in game pack refreshes, such as maybe adding archery as a skill, or PlantSims as an occult life state to Outdoor Retreat! Or updating familiars to be more interactive in Realm of Magic! (Something I TOTALLY agree with, by the way – I just want to play with them!) Or adding new abilities to upping the Wellness skill, like emitting a mood-enhancing fragrance at a certain level, to Spa Day! All sorts of interesting little comments – I don’t know how many of them are actually FEASIBLE, but hey, we can all dream.
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check – just one ask reply and a couple of reblogs over on Valice Multiverse. Oh, and I remembered an idea for a silly AU Thursday post on Victor Luvs Alice that I quickly stuck in my drafts this morning to properly write out later. :)
Okay, good -- that covers everything. Time to answer my other comment and then hit the sheets. At least tomorrow's a short day! Night all!
