Nice Weather At Last
And I spent most of it indoors, in a rather cold building to boot. >( *sigh* At least it was nice when I got out a bit early this afternoon! I will not say no to an extra hour. Dry, little wind, high 70s. . .if it could just stay like this, I would be content. Too bad I'm pretty sure the rain comes back on Thursday. *grumps*
All right, let's have the now-usual weekday sum-up:
Work – A bit frustrating, though it could have been worse – I spent most of the day on a QC file, checking records and finding a few new fun problems, including a couple new things to discuss with the old credit card company. *grumbles* That’s for the conference call tomorrow, though – hopefully it’ll go all right.
Beanbags – Four games today because of my getting home earlier – my scores were W-2-2-2. Dad lost the first game after I got a seven on my last throw, but smoked me and Mom in all the subsequent ones. Poor Mom only came second in the first game and then lost all the others. And after she came so close to winning in the first one too, ouch. . .hopefully tomorrow will be better for her!
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check! Another round on the bike, with a couple of videos showcasing Sims 4 mods. Because while I don’t really have any in my game at present, they are fun to learn about! You’ve got stuff like an automatically-generated family portrait you can customize; new personality traits based off the Sims 2 aspirations (complete with whims!); a mod where a pregnant Sim can go to a rabbithole hospital and come back with an ultrasound photo indicating how many babies she’s pregnant with and what gender they’ll be born as; a food delivery mod for any food in the game; a mod pack that lets you send a toddler to preschool, gives kids more interactions at school, has homework raise skills, and gives everyone an online learning option – there’s all sorts of stuff out there! My personal interest right now is crafting mods and items, since I’d like to have those for my eventual FO4-based “settlement building” challenge, but a lot of these “add more personality and interactions” mods are my jam too. It’s just hard to justify going on a modding spree when I generally play only once a week. . .
2. Edit some more on “Londerland Bloodlines”: Check! Alice is off the beach and back in Santa Monica proper, now looking for some painkillers for Mercurio – but stopping off at the local clinic also means meeting a new character! Yes, it’s everyone’s favorite “golden ghoul,” Knox – who just gave poor Alice a fright by immediately guessing she’s a vampire. Poor girl. . .well, at least he’s enthusiastic about meeting her? XD For a specific reason, though Alice doesn’t know that yet. . .
Also, bonus – I had a few extra minutes tonight to myself and played around a little more with my hypnokink verse’s magic system, refining a few things and adding in that people who use magic on someone with a “compatible” ability will find it easier to do said magic – Alice and Victor both “break barriers that shouldn’t be broken” with her dreamwalking and his ability to visit the Land of the Dead, so Alice can visit Victor’s mind and invite him into hers easier, and he can take her down to the Land of the Dead with less physical cost to himself! I’m still trying to figure out what I want Victor’s minor abilities to be – Alice got illusions because of what happens at the end of A:MR, and pyrokinesis because the thing that started all her trauma was an out-of-control fire. Victor’s stuff has to reference what happened in the movie – I’m thinking something to do with butterflies, his artwork, or his music. I’ll keep pondering!
3. Keep up with YouTube Subscriptions: Check! Three in, three out, yay~
A) Started with the latest from James Turner – it was time to finally complete the set and build That One House in Sims 4! Using stuff from Dream Home Decorator, no less! This house actually ended up fairly different from its predecessors, at least in terms of furnishings – no cowprint couch or pool table for a start. And, because it used the new pack, James took full advantage of the opportunity to go mad with the new sectional stuff – replacing the stereo beneath the TV with an entertainment center he built himself, for example. It still turned out nice and usable (even learned some good information – that absurdly-large dollhouse can be sized down with no ill effects on playtime!), though there were a few issues with Sims getting into beds. Pathing is so strange in these games sometimes. . . Anyway, he did a comparison at the end, and declared that the house looked the best in Sims 1, simply because that was the game it was designed for. The fact that you HAVE to build so huge in the first game to accommodate everything made for some weird scaling down the line! But it was still a fun challenge to watch – and now he’s talking about doing it in reverse, which should be interesting. . .
B) Then it was onto Call Me Kevin and Minecraft Alpha – aka a ten-year old version of Minecraft that he used to play on his old ancient channel! He seems to be into the nostalgia lately. . . Anyway, Minecraft Alpha 1.1.0 is a simple game – with crafting recipes Kevin can’t figure out, mobs that spawn infrequently – but when they DO spawn, they’re going to murder you right quick, and animals that drop no meat when slaughtered, meaning that your only hope for food is carbs. (Gray would be most pleased.) It was a cute little video, though – Kevin built his base on a mountain up in the clouds, then went exploring a cave and actually found diamonds! So now he’s got iron armor and diamond gear – nice. :) He mentioned the possibility of making this a series of sorts, maybe going up in versions as the episodes progress, and I’m all for it! Kevin’s version of James’s house challenge XD
C) Then it was time for GrayStillPlays and more Happy Wheels! We had some killer boards today, including a field trip to Hell (here defined as glass breaks, harpoons, and spikes); a very extreme rope swing (Gray kept falling on all the spikes before finally managing to ride the rocket platform to freedom); “The Quest of Pain” (starts with some slow and careful riding beneath a spike ceiling before forcing you to kill some hobos and bounce onto a bottle run); and “The Longest Bottle Run” (a bottle run with all the bottles SPACED OUT – also there’s harpoons at the end and you have to go so fast you can literally die from the speed). Also a “hobo flying a wheelchair through spikes and homing bombs” board that Gray cheated by going across the top. XD That’s why we love him!
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check! The Newcrest Adventures posts (Wednesday) and a Fallout 4 meta reblog (Thursday) for Victor Luvs Alice; three asks for Valice Multiverse. Nice and simple!
Not too bad. And now it's time to answer my DW comment and head to sleep. Full day tomorrow, bleh. At least it's already midweek. Night all!
