Oh yes, I could definitely see a Dark!Doc as a Neid. You actually get a little of that in the first novelization -- Novel!Doc is rather more full of himself, and sees the DeLorean as a ticket to fame and fortune. Pretty different characterization, no?

Really? I never noticed any major bitterness/envy in Victor myself. What drew you to that conclusion?
