Hey, Guess What Time It Is?

It's time for my thoughts on Alice!

-->Resumed my journey in Tundraful. Have discovered slides are tricksy things.
-->You know that Ruin monster that throws shit at you? Yeah, I hate it with a passion. At least I'm slowly getting better at killing them.
-->Nice thing -- the ice world is NOT slippy-slidey. Hooray.
-->Apparently the ice world intrudes upon Looking-Glass land, by the look of some of the decorations.
-->SNAAARRRKS!!! Only now they're ICE Snarks, and look more like anglerfish. They ARE easier to deal with when you're both walking around, instead of dealing with swimming mechanics.
-->I have a new toy -- the Hobby Horse! It is great for beating Snarks. :D Also smashing open shit.
-->All sorts of roundabout shit to collect, but I can't say I mind. Give me teeth and memories and bottles and all that good stuff. (Even if the main menu hasn't shown me unlocking much yet. O.o)
-->Oh yeeks -- there's an entire minilevel that's all ice slides, taking multiple paths, with fiery coal dangers and a lack of walls. Took me I don't know HOW many tries to get through. Once I even fell into the black void that exists beyond the game's borders. For a minute I thought I was stuck and went "Oh crap," but then Alice saved me by dying. XD Learning that you can jump to different parts of the slide if you fall off helped a lot.
-->Lots of invisible platforms in these areas. Hard to time your jumps right, but I'm determined to find as many memories as I can.
-->Mock Turtle now has a boat -- the HMS Gryphon! Alice even calls him Admiral, which is nice of her. They escape from boat-skeleton sharks into a minigame where you control the ship and fire at all the crap trying to kill you (more boat-skeleton sharks, mines, and cannon crabs). It's a short game, and not too hard, especially if you've spent any time at all on Miniclip.
-->Annoying note of the day -- just as I was starting the HMS Gryphon minigame, Dad called me down to dinner. I paused the game, went down and ate, and watched Food Network Challenge (Romance Novel cakes). When I came back upstairs --
My computer was off.
I have NO idea why -- he booted up fine, and Alice restarted fine too -- but lesson learned: if I'm going to be away from my computer for a while, QUIT Alice and come back to it. Fortunately, it restarted me at the very beginning of the minigame, so I lost basically no progress.
-->A crash puts us in the Deluded Depths, with a new dress for Alice! I like it -- it's got glowy lines on it. And she's barefoot! She has skinny legs and odd-looking feets. XD
-->Mock gives his sob story about being fired from the Looking-Glass Line. Alice attempts sympathy, and is told to go bother Caterpillar. He's still a whole chapter away, Mock!
-->Deluded Depths is pretty -- though, really, all of these realms are gorgeous. You should have seen the sky in Tundraful. :D
-->Radula Rooms! :D They're big empty snail shells you enter and play an ultra-short minigame in. One had Alice revisit the Vale of Tears at night and get a quick riddle from Cheshire (it's a variation on the "How is the Queen of Hearts not like a typhoon?" one March asked in the original game -- pick the one that's closest to Alice's original answer: "Both are powerful, destructive, and indiscriminately cruel -- but the typhoon doesn't mean to be.") The other one I did had Rabbit and Hatter at the tea table, and you had to survive an onslaught of MadCaps for a certain amount of time. I smashed a bunch with my hobby horse, then ran away from the ones with shields to win.
-->Lots of shipwrecks in the Deluded Depths -- including bits from other levels. There's a chunk of the Hatter's Domain in there. XD
-->Have discovered an annoying new enemy -- the Lost Soul, a teleporting ghost who throws bombs at you. Fortunately, I seem to have discovered how to get 'em -- hit 'em with the pepper grinder before they throw the bomb, and it'll explode in their hand. Then just keep hammering them until they die (again).
-->The Walrus and the Carpenter do shows now, as indicated in the real world by Bruno Carpentieri's sideshow featuring the insatiable Walrus Man. Their stage is a converted shipwreck.
-->Fish in Victorian dresses, suits, and hats -- hilarity. XD
-->New version of the Ruin -- the Drifting Ruin! They'd probably be a lot harder if the Queensland gameplay videos hadn't shown us to hit 'em when the baby faces are out. :p
-->Oh, and another "key to the fire" memory was found (I call the memories you find through the burning "Liddell" doors that because each one adds a key to Alice's omega symbol). Alice recalls being the last in the library -- she worries that the log she added to the fire wasn't dead when she went to bed. "If it wasn't, I may be responsible for my family's deaths!" Awww. . . . *patpats her*

And that's that for today. I'm quite getting into the game -- now that I've got more control over the jump and getting used to the combat (plus new weapon!), it's getting easier. I can't wait to get to the endgame!
-TD: *joking* Could always read the comments on that Dr. Bumby's post in [livejournal.com profile] dear_mun.-
*laugh* Maybe. Can you believe someone's playing that dick? (And he is a dick too. Nobody makes fun of Nobsack Mock Turtle but us, buster.) Still, he might be fun to play. I'll stick with Alice, thanks very much. :)
Should probably mention I watched Tangled the other day -- good movie. :) Now, if only the Blu-Ray didn't have all the special features. . . .
