Vicky The Gatherer of Information

Fair amount of my time at work today was spent counting stuff and updating spreadsheets with totals of said stuff and things like that. Appears the project is starting to move forward some! Though who knows how fast -- still a lot of schools to get through, from what I understand. I look at it as a form of job security -- as long as they need me, I'll be there. *nods*

Not much else to say about today:

-->Got some time on the elliptical and watched more "Over The Garden Wall" -- weird show, but amusing enough for workouts. And it wins points for having Christopher Lloyd voice a character.

-->Edited some more of "Triskaidekaphobia," and got the second chapter up: on FF.net and on AO3. Be forewarned, this one's swear-heavy, being from the perspective of Jack Splatter. And creepy, but you knew that already.

-->Did tumblr queues and replies on DW. Hooray for getting shit done.

-->Had thought about the Gryphon from "American McGee's Alice" wearing a train conductor's cap and saving Victor from a Bandersnatch by grabbing him and bringing him to the Looking-Glass Line train. These things amuse me while I'm typing. :P

So now I'm off to read Cake Wrecks, then get some sleep. And hopefully coax some last eggs out of DragonVale. I swear, it stops with four to go just to taunt me. . .

I have this feeling the name of the station is important but I'm not getting it currently. Also I know it's not a smile-worthy story but I did grin at the Buford reference.

Maybe typo?:
After those long lectures he'd gotten from both the police and Bumby himself about leaving Can Dort alone

I'm pretty sure it's been an insult for him before but I wasn't sure if it was deliberate or not.

I also have this feeling that AL's gonna go up and hug Forgotten when they come over for Simon's birthday, heh.

Anyways...I'm not gonna be collecting anything until this afternoon just in case (which means it probably won't be a Double but better safe than angry, lol). If figured out that if they do one more Double (say Easter weekend), then I'll be able to get the second Monolith Dragon but only if they do one more. If they don't I'll be short.

I'm level 62 and still making pedestals. I managed a second Celtic without realizing it until I saw the egg and then was like, "Oh, hey...well, thanks guys, haha". I missed out on the Clover, though.

During the first Double I spent gems just to bring my count up since I was sick and didn't have the energy to sit and grind more eggs out of habitats and food. I did that on the last Double day, too, because I was going to miss out on whatever didn't spawn from habitats and food (mine like to stop at 12 each) plus my Colosseum ended in the afternoon so I'd miss out there as well.

I've got Kairos standing by to help out if this afternoon is a Double. If it's not, I'll save him for when it is. I've got Petal questing and it was the 24-hour one so that should net me almost the max for that I think.

I think that's it.

In these AL/Data fics I've been trying to write I'm crediting you and your ability to set stories within stories (like you do with the FV-verse). Of the four ideas I have, two or three take place during episodes of The Next Generation and I don't seem to have the level of skill you do to work around the already established narrative (if that make sense). For one of them (the one where AL says "I don't care if you can't return my feelings, I want us to be together anyway") I wrote the end first and I'm pretty proud of it. Now I have to earn that ending, lol.

My problem is figuring out just what AL would be doing in the course of the episodes. When I was a kid, my thoughts were always that she'd be hanging out with Data no matter where he was. On the bridge or on an away team on a planet, she'd be there. Now, as an adult, I realize that it's not really feasible since she's not a member of Starfleet and by this time, 4 or 5 years later, her "celebrity" status from being friends with Kirk and the others would probably have worn off so she can't just do whatever she wants (and now she's glaring at me, lol).

Don't mind me, I'm rambling, lol. I'll get things together eventually. I'm still sick from the sinus infection but it's not as bad as it was (seriously, all I did last weekend was sleep). Maybe I can actually watch the episodes with the transcripts like I want. We'll see. :)

Edit: Not a Double. *pout*

I'm still sniffly but I don't need the drowsy-inducing medicine to help me sleep anymore. As for Ed, that thankfully was a one-time thing. The man gets sick for like a couple hours and then is over it. My mom still has the cough from when she was sick months ago. :/

I was thinking about jobs for her but on a starship it's a little tough. Maybe if anything she could work part time in Ten-Forward. I need to look up a few things. I did mention that they'll occasionally ask her about unknown (to them) alien species because she's been around and has lived a long time by then.

I actually remembered one episode where they had a couple animals in one of the biolabs. Those particular ones were being transported to a new home, but it's not too far-fetched to think that maybe that particular lab houses a few small things. In the scene you can't actually see the whole lab, so...writer's prerogative, lol. Something like that would be perfect for her (always winds up with animals our AL, haha). She can also occasionally help if there's an alien race they don't know about that she might.
