Fic and Run

Since it's getting late and I really need to hit the sheets. (Insomnia and the like SUCKS.) Quick question before I do, though -- anyone else having trouble with the PM feature here on LJ? I'm trying to send a message as [livejournal.com profile] deadgirlsliekme to [livejournal.com profile] allmydiredreams (RP stuffs, obviously), but the message box to actually send the message never actually shows up on the screen. B| Apparently there's a tagging issue for plus accounts at the moment too, so maybe it's just LJ being cranky.

Anyway! Fic! Victor/Alice, as per usual these days. (I really need to find some inspiration for a Drabbles88.)

12. In a good mood – The Morning After
Victor stirred, blinking a few times against the bright light in his face. Opening his eyes just a bit, he saw that the sun was shining through the window at just the right angle to pull him rudely from dreamland. He yawned and turned on his back. Sun or not, he wasn’t ready to get –
Something moved beside him.
Victor nearly jumped out of his skin. His head jerked to the side to see a familiar head of dark auburn hair on the pillow next to him. As he watched, it moved again, mumbling something before becoming still.
For a moment, all Victor could do was stare. What on earth was he doing in bed with Alice? Then his brain gave him a mental slap as it kicked back into gear. Ninny – you married her yesterday, remember?
Victor blushed at his own foolishness. Of course he remembered, now that the haze of sleep had been cleared from his mind. Him standing at the altar in the chapel of White Castle. . . Alice coming up the aisle in her beautiful white dress. . .the two of them exchanging their vows. . .and then that kiss. . . .
Victor blushed harder. He’d never thought he’d be able to kiss a girl in front of a crowd – but yesterday, with Alice, it had been surprisingly easy. Then again, most things seemed surprisingly easy with Alice by his side. Even things he thought could never be easy, like – what had happened last night, after the reception was over and they’d retired to the cottage the Tweedles and the Duchess had prepared for them as a honeymoon gift.
He let out a nervous giggle as he remembered it. Yesterday night had been something else. Victor had never gotten a proper talk from his father on what married couples did, having to puzzle most of it out from the penny dreadfuls he’d read. Alice had told him she’d had to rely on information the various Queens of Wonderland had given her, which was often a bit strange. And yet, somehow, when they were alone and the mood was right. . . . Well, it was both nothing and everything like he’d dreamed.
And now, here they were, the morning after, with Alice asleep next to him. Victor leaned over her, peering at her face. She looked quite peaceful, auburn hair fanning out behind her, pink lips parted slightly. He put a hand on her shoulder, and felt the warmth of her body through the blanket. She’s here, he thought. She’s real.
She’s mine.

A smile spread across Victor’s face. He adjusted the blanket and snuggled up to her, pulling her head close to his chest. Alice stirred and opened one eye sleepily. “Hello there,” she mumbled.
“Hello,” Victor replied. “How are you?”
“I’m fine, if still tired. You?”
“Something I never expected to be.” Victor kissed her forehead. “Absolutely ecstatic.”

Tie-Twister can't kill me for post-sex fic, can he?
-TTV: *rolls his eyes*-
This was another fic where I knew pretty much exactly what I wanted to do when I read the prompt -- though coming up with the title took a while. I just came up with "The Morning After" randomly one day and liked it. This particular fic was inspired by all the fics detailing Victor's wedding night and my own unwritten smutty take on the situation with him and Alice. You'll note here that this poor Victor never even got the talk from William -- he had to make do with whatever information he could find on his own.
-J: And Alice got her information from the residents of WONDERLAND?-
-HD: I am capable of having completely normal sex, you know!-
-J: . . . *facepalm* No, and I never WANTED to know, either.-
*gigglefit* Yeah, Alice got her info from Wonderland, though she DID talk to her Aunt Susan about it a little too. I'm thinking of having Aunt Susan give her the fake pamphlet here just for kicks -- yeah, the date's all wrong, but I can fudge it, right? It really doesn't matter in the end -- they have a nice wedding night, as judged by Victor's blushing recollection.
-DW: Er -- good for them, I suppose.-
Heh. Incidentally, I got the "morning after marriage amnesia" thing from a webcomic, but damned if I can remember which one -- it was a long time ago. I just thought it was a funny concept.
