EVL Day

I ended up playing through two days in a row thanks to EVL's insane new work schedule, so let's have an update from them:

Tuesday
ImageFra.me
EVL tries his hand at some pottery -- both he and his fiancee have intermittent wants to earn a Bronze Pottery badge. He makes a decent plate for 10 simoleons profit.

ImageFra.me ImageFra.me
Upstairs, Felicia's working on making a few more wall scones -- I've noticed a few rooms are lacking in light. Hooray for being able to build your own!

ImageFra.me
EVL is a sailor man! Silliest costume to go with his hat or no?

ImageFra.me
Felicia tries to make a plate. It doesn't go as well as EVL's. Fortunately, I do find these sagging saucers amusing as wall decoration.

ImageFra.me
Best chair for studying ever? Best chair for studying ever. If you're wondering why she's neglecting her Thinking Cap, though, it's because she's learning Fire Safety. (Gee, I wonder why she had a want for that? /sarcasm)

ImageFra.me
EVL comes home with reduced Cuisine enthusiasm because of a chance card, a promotion to Deep Sea Fisherman, and an urge to create. I go ahead and get him working on a Servo -- which I promptly name Tom Servo. XD What can I say, I couldn't resist.

ImageFra.me
EVL blogs about tinkering while I peer over his shoulder. I find it pretty neat that they actually made it look like he's on a messageboard.

ImageFra.me
And then the computer breaks. *rolls eyes* Fortunately, EVL has maxed Mechanical, so it takes him pretty much no time at all to fix it. Though I don't know how jamming a screwdriver into the DVD tray helps. . . .

ImageFra.me
Male bonding. (He's making best friends with a guy named Gerard.)

ImageFra.me
Felicia is now up on how to deal with a fire. Hopefully she won't have to, though. Since they're both magical, and they have the amazing studying chair, neither of them have had to eat in days.

ImageFra.me
*snork* A passerby reacts badly to EVL teleporting down and trying to summon some butterflies or fireflies. Chill out, dude. This is The Sims. This shit is normal.

ImageFra.me
EVL takes a nap, Felicia makes some reagents. . . .

Wednesday
ImageFra.me
. . .And then, before I know it, it's time for EVL to go to work -- at TWO AM. His new job runs from 3 to 10. (And it turns out he needs 2 friends, so he's stuck with this schedule for the nonce.)

ImageFra.me
Felicia tries her hand at more plate-making, and fares better this time.

ImageFra.me
More studying in the chair -- Felicia hasn't had to tend to her needs barely at all. It's weird.

ImageFra.me
But good, as she's all fresh and ready for her new job! Yup, I got her into the Education career to get that bookcase! She starts out at the bottom rung, Playground Assistant, but I hope she'll quickly progress. Question: Is her or EVL's outfit the sillier with that hat?

ImageFra.me
EVL may look silly, but he's damn enthusiastic about it.

ImageFra.me
More working on Tom commences, as a snowstorm starts outside.

ImageFra.me
Felicia comes home (promoted to Teacher's Aide) while EVL takes his turn in the awesome study chair. She fills her time with more pottery attempts.

ImageFra.me
And then they trade -- Felicia back in the chair, EVL working on his robot.

ImageFra.me
Apparently there's nothing sexier than a man with a tool in his hand.

ImageFra.me
No, it's not a magic battle -- EVL's just making Felicia fit through magic while she does one of the witch idle animations. (Though, remember the magical dueling arena from Makin' Magic? I suddenly sort of miss that.)

ImageFra.me
Felicia suddenly notices it's snowing.
Through a window with a large chair nearly completely blocking it.
I've put this woman in charge of Sims' education, folks.

ImageFra.me
"I love me! There is no sexier bitch than me."
Felicia, honey, I know I told you to call up this Ryan guy you met and make friends, but that's an odd start to the conversation. (It works, though -- Ryan is impressed enough to give them a Buy Mode catalog discount.)

ImageFra.me
And we end on more reagent-making and some laziness on EVL's part. Of course, he did make a bunch of reagents himself earlier, so. . . .

Okay, the big question on everyone's mind is probably, "When are these two going to get married?" I'm thinking I'm going to wait a little while longer -- Spring's coming up soon, as well as a day off they both share. I'm gonna send them with a couple of EVL's friends to the church lot and do my first community lot wedding. This gives them a chance to build up their funds a little more and maybe afford a brief honeymoon. After that, it's robot shop time.

Okay, I've got to have Lucy respond to the [livejournal.com profile] charloft prompt, and finish watching this episode of "Kitchen Nightmares." This burger place is a horror -- but it also makes me want to start my own restaurant in Sims. Maybe one of EVL's kids will be into Cuisine? (I'm trying to make the family start up businesses according to talents/interests. EVL's doing a robot shop because his One True Hobby is Tinkering, for example.)

I've always loved your Sims families. They're so creative and you've always got such wonderful ideas. I love the idea of a wizard family for this one and I also love how you made little Victor and Alice Sims too. I'm thinking of getting The Sims 2 myself and making a Van Dort family (Victor, Victoria, and the twin girl OCs I've told you about. I don't know if you've seen the picture of them that one of my dear friends drew for me). I've come across lots of websites where you can download customized Victorian-era outfits, furniture, houses, and the like for The Sims 2. They would certainly be useful for that.

Aww, thanks! I just got really lucky with EVL falling in love with one of the two High Witches. Magic is endlessly useful in this game. XD And yeah, I love playing the little Victor and Alice over in Inkwell Secundus (Alice is gonna be a big sister!).

Oooh, that would be cool -- and yeah, I have seen them! They're cool. :D *nods* The custom content for this game is amazing. I can also recommend GenenSims if you want proper skintones (that's where I got my extra-pale skintones for Victor and EVL).

That's great! Yes, I looked up one of The Sims games and it turns out magic is a possible profession on Apartment Life. That is what you have with this, correct? I'll bet! Ooh, so Lizzie is going to be the younger sister this time? :)

I know. The custom content for this game is possibly the main reason why I love it so much. Imagination is the limit with it. Anything is possible to vent your creativity out and put things together. Thank you for the suggestion! I went to look at the website and they did have a super pale skintone which would be useful for the whole family (Eerie Pale Skinned Brunette x 4, pretty much XD).

Yeah, I've got all the expansion packs -- I just HAD to get Apartment Life after I heard you could become witches/warlocks. Screw what the EP's actually named after. XD And yup -- well, unless the baby is a boy. In which case, he'll be named Arthur after Alice's dad in "Madness Returns" (since that Alice was made before MR, I named her dad after her real-life one, Henry).

It's fantastic, the stuff people come up with. And yeah, I figured that would be useful. XD

[identity profile] dizzydreamerose.livejournal.com 2012-02-14 06:09 am (UTC)(link)
That's amazing and interesting about Alice's father's name. I knew it was Arthur from the Alice Wiki, but I figured her family could have similar names to her real life ones before. Agreed.
On an off-topic note, I tried to make a Let's Play video for A:MR but I failed miserably. I think I need more practice and to script some of the funny commentary from me. I ended up repeating myself and stuttering a lot on the mic and I ended up falling while trying to float (also, lots of control fail). So yeah, more practice, scripting, and I should watch more Let's Play videos by other people.

[identity profile] docsgirl.livejournal.com 2012-02-15 04:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I have no idea why they changed it. To divorce it from the real Alice's life? (In which case I wish we knew her Mother's name. I just call her Lorina after the real Mrs. Liddell.)

Awww, too bad. Yeah, I imagine getting a Let's Play to work takes a lot of practice. I can recommend one guy, though: Helloween4545 (http://www.youtube.com/user/Helloween4545?feature=g-u-u). He's one of my favorites, and he's done Let's Plays of both Alice games. (Granted, you'll probably have to turn your sound up -- he comes in a little soft.)

[identity profile] dizzydreamerose.livejournal.com 2012-02-15 08:47 pm (UTC)(link)
If that's the case, then I think her name would be Helen. I don't know why, but she just looks like a Helen. XD

True. I'll have to practice a bit more today. Thank you so much for the suggestion! I'll check him out! :) Another Let's Play series I happened to stumble across yesterday that was hilarious was Cleo vs. Alice: Madness Returns. I don't know if you've seen her Let's Plays, but they are so funny. I swear to god though, if MyChonny (he has a game channel by the way where he does all these Let's Plays, it's called chonnygame) does a Let's Play of A:MR, I will die a happy person of laughter.

[identity profile] docsgirl.livejournal.com 2012-02-16 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
Helen Liddell? Yeah, that's not bad. :)

You're welcome! I haven't seen Cleo, but I'll go ahead and check her out. I don't mind finding new Let's Plays. :) Aww, that would be great. :D I'll keep my fingers crossed!
