I, too, have worked in retail [the same Blockbuster] since June '99, so I've also had tons of memorable customer experiences - some good, some not.;)
It almost sounds like that kid was either (a) almost being annoying on purpose, or (b) just not much of a thinker, LOL. Even when I was 10, I was so not like that. I was friendly and all, but I tried to find things myself 'cause I "didn't wanna bother anyone if I didn't have to."
Yeah, I also get annoyed with rude/mean and/or dumb customers (some of whom are grown adults who can't do simple math!). Then again, in the last 5 years, I've also made some great acquaintences/friends from customers I've grown to know, so I can't complain too much.
P.S. I briefly remember reading in a couple previous entries that you were moving, but just now noticed it's to Florida. That's cool, most of my extended family lives there (near Fort Lauderdale).
