Apr. 30th, 2005 06:06 pmHe's got his science job, fulfilled the "Overachiever" want for his parents, has a crush on Lucy, and has a new, expensive telescope.
-D: Sounds like a good time to me.-
Yeah. Interesting thing happened -- Emily has a new friend, Mark Emmett Mathews! Not only does Mark look something like Emmett, he also has the same shirt:

Mark and Emily are fairly close -- I think Mark will have a brief love affair with Emily before moving on to Kat Von Nostrand, his real true love. Emily will meet her mate in college.
Speaking of College, I found an excellent guide to the college life on GameFAQs. Social Bunny's Guide has all you could ever need to know about surviving college. I found the part on scholarships to be particularly interesting. I want Emily, Emmett, and Holly to have their own campus housing, so I need Emmett and Emily to have plenty of college money.
-VD: Not a problem for me, of course. Schools were BEGGING for me to attend them. I don't think I paid a dime to go to university.-
Exactly. Most of the scholarships are skill-based, although there are a few wildcards. Here they are (taken from the above guide):
Hogan Award for Athletics: 8 or higher body skill, 750 awarded
Bain-Gordon Communications Fellowship: 8 or higher charisma skill, 750
awarded
Kim Metro Prize for Hygienics: 8 or higher cleaning skill, 750 awarded
London Culinary Arts Scholarship: 8 or higher cooking skill, 750 awarded
Will Wright Genius Grant: 8 or higher logic skill, 750 awarded
Bui Engineering Award: 8 or higher mechanical skill, 750 awarded
Quigley Visual Arts Grant: 8 or higher creative skill, 750 awarded
SimCity Scholar's Grant: A- or better in high school, 1,000 awarded
Extraterrestrial Reparation Grant: Abducted by aliens, 1,500 awarded
Young Entrepreneurs Award: Level 3 in Teen career, 750 awarded
Undead Educational Scholarship: Teen Zombie, 1,500 awarded
Phelps-Wilsonoff Billiards Prize: High Pool skill, 1,000 awarded
Tsang Footwork Award: High Dancing skill, 1,000 awarded
Orphaned Sims Assistance Fund: Sim has no living parents, 1,500 awarded
So far, Emmett qualifies for the Will Wright Genius Grant, the SimCity Scholar's Grant, and the Young Entrepreneurs Award, for a total scholarship of 2,500 -- 3,000 with his starting 500. I'm aiming for the Quigley Visual Arts Grant, the Bui Engineering Award, and with a little luck, the Extraterrestrial Reparation Grant, for 6,000 simoleons.
-M: Whoa. They're going to have a nice house.-
Yeah. I've already chosen a lot for them to start on -- repapered, recarpeted, and did a little pre-object placing (deleted them afterwards so that the price wouldn't go up enormously). I also checked out the majors, to see what skills will be needed for my various teen Sims. Here's Emmett's (a + means he's fulfilled the requirement):
Physics:
5 Mechanical
4 Creativity +
4 Logic +
4 Cleaning
1 Body +
1 Cooking +
1 Charisma +
He should be set by the time he goes.
-OD: You've really thought this thing out.-
I know. I'm better with his college than with my own. *blush*
-OD: *tentacles patpat* Hey, his college is much simpler you know.-
-D: Mind putting a little of that brain power into "Dark Half?"-
-M+J: Yeah, finish it! Home stretch!-
*giggle* I know, I know.
-MDC: And write more Spidey!-
