Happy 1885 Week! Day 4
Sep. 5th, 2005 10:04 pmSeptember 5th, 1885: Doc demonstrates to Marty his plan to send them both back to the future with another fairly elaborate model. The plan is to "borrow" the locomotive at the switchtrack, throw the switch, and have the locomotive push the DeLorean up to 88 miles per hour just before they hit the end of the track, allowing them to coast along the completed bridge in 1885. Marty notices that Doc has painted "Point of No Return" on a book and propped it up against the model windmill -- Doc explains that up until then, they can still stop the locomotive if they need to. But once past the windmill, it's the future or bust!
Shortly after Doc shows Marty how the plan will work with his model railroad, Clara comes calling. She says that her telescope was damaged in when her wagon overturned and asks Doc to fix it. Of course, Doc and Clara start inadvertantly flirting, forcing Marty to intervene. Clara asks if they're going to the festival that night when Doc mentions he can have the telescope fixed by then -- Doc says yes.
At the festival, Marty and Doc end up having their picture taken in front of the clock -- the same picture that Marty and Doc'55 originally found in the archives. Doc and Clara take to the dance floor while Marty demonstrates his skill with firearms and meets up with Maggie and Seamus again. Buford Tannen crashes the party, intent on killing Doc with a hidden derringer. He forces a dance out of Clara and attempts to shoot Doc -- luckily Marty is able to use a "Frisbee" pie plate to knock his aim off, and Buford merely shoots off Doc's hat. An angry Buford threatens Marty and calls him yellow. A furious Marty agrees to "duel" Buford, Monday morning at 8:00. Doc ends up taking Clara home while Marty is scolded by Seamus for letting Buford get to him. Marty gets a REAL kick in the pants when Seamus mentions his own brother Martin, who also disliked being called a coward and ended up with a Bowie knife through his belly in Virginia City.
At Clara's house, Doc and Clara are doing a little stargazing. Clara asks if he thinks they'll ever be able to travel to the moon -- Doc replies that they will with huge rocket ships. Clara tells him he's quoting from Jules Verne's "From The Earth To The Moon" -- turns out she's a fan of Jules Verne as well. Doc and Clara end up sharing their first kiss under the stars.
Holy CRAP, a lot happened in the Backieverse today! No wonder that "week" feels longer than it should. It's funny, the way Doc and Clara act, it's like they've known each other all their lives -- I guess score one for the Bobs, Chris, and Mary for some excellent screenwriting and acting.
-OD: *sillygrin* I know. It was magical.-
-VD: *sillygrin* That's the way it was for me and Mysteria as well.-
-VD2: Took a bit longer for me, but Josie was certainly that way from the beginning.-
-D: Gypsy admitted she formed a slight crush on me right away -- I think I may have as well, but it only came to the fore when I stopped seeing her as my shrink and started seeing her as a friend.-
-DW: Well, my GypsyFox was handpicked for me, so. . . . Thank you again. *licks me*-
*giggle*
-TD: . . . Suddenly I'm very depressed.-
Awww. *huggles* I'm working on your story, does that make you feel any better?
-TD: A little.-
-H: *huggle* We're all here for you, Emmett.-
-E: Yeah -- and it is nice to know that you have such successful relationships in the future.-
-TD: I know, I know. I just wish I didn't have to wait so long.-
You always have ME. *gringrin*
-TD: . . . Well, it IS kinda nice to have a fangirl, I guess. . .-
Yay! *pounces on him*
-TD: Gah! I need that brain! I'm a Spark, you know!-
-M: While you're busy doing that, I'd like to commend the Bobs, the costume designers, and the speech coaches for making Maggie McFly not look like my mother.-
-VM: We appreciate it, guys. A lot.-
-VD: So, what happens next month?-
Part II, of course. I'm arranging them by how much of each month is shown, and Part II shows the most October. Probably watch it the 26th. Then November is Part I.
-VD2: *grumble about Biff's Pleasure Paradise*-
Want me to replay the parts where he's sucking up to the McFlys at the ends of Parts I and III?
-VD2: Please.-
