For Once, Boredom Equals Productivity
Jun. 11th, 2006 10:54 pmI got very bored surfing the web today, so I forced myself into some writing. By the time I went to go play Sims, I'd written up two full pages on "BTTX-2: Time of the Spider," got some more editing done on "V.D.," and gotten to just over 1,000 words on "Congraduation." While Sims loaded, I finished my remaining half-page on "Past Amnesia" and kept on writing for a good half-page more. After Sims, I finally got around to creating that new neighborhood image for Twin Oaks Park. Now I'm working on "Boy Genius" and trying to kickstart my interest in "The Originals."
-TD: Wow. Perhaps cutting off all that hair gave your brain more air or something.-
LoL -- well, my head doesn't have to carry around that much weight anymore. . . . :p
-VD2: Seriously, very nice job there. We like your rare extremely productive days.-
Thanks, I like them too.
-OD: *tentacles chitter curiously* What does this new image for Twin Oaks Park look like?-
( Behind a Cut to Be Nice )
It's really just a random collage of some of my favorite Sims pictures layered onto a picture of Twin Oaks Park by day. Yay for figuring out how to work the copy-paste function in Paint!
-OD: Not bad! I see you included most everyone important.-
Yup -- Doc, Julia, Gypsy, Emily, Holly, Marty, and Jennifer (though I had to use a very out-of-date picture for those last two). I also included the Furkin and a robot to help drive home the slogan.
-OD: *tentacles patpat* Well, we'll accept it as fan art.-
Tanku. I'll try and get more done on the puppet pals tomorrow.
-D: Have any special plans for tomorrow?-
Not really -- I may load the Sims just to see what that picture looks like in-game and to verify my attraction readings. *grumbles* The game's been acting up recently. I think my computer's just really not up to the job of running it. And I'm relucant to lower the graphic options because -- well, I like the graphics.
-VD: Why, what's going on with your game?-
The controls keep "sticking" -- I'll go to pause and rotate the camera, and the game will freeze for a few minutes before responding. It slows to a crawl whenever someone enters or exits the lot too. And don't get me started on going to community lots. It isn't so bad in smaller houses, but it still acts up with visiting Sims.
-MF: Well, that sucks.-
Yeah. *glowers at the Vaio* I shouldn't have to worry about this thing crashing or blowing up. I'm seriously considering using some of my savings to get a new computer.
-DW: You do have college in the future.-
I know, I know. And my slashed hours means lesser pay too. But -- well, the Vaio's at least 3 years old by this point. And the requirements for Sims keep going up. Not to mention that, even moving My Documents to D, the C drive is still pretty damn full.
-TD: What kind of computer would you get to replace the Vaio?-
Not sure. This is my list of requirements:
-->Great graphics card (hell, if we could take the one I've got out of the Vaio, that would be good)
-->C drive bigger than 16 GB
-->1 GB of RAM (I've heard that's good)
-->WordPerfect installed (that's what I use to write my stories)
-->(optional)A nice paint job to make it look something like the DeLorean or Doc's TimeTrain
-VD2: Not a long list.-
Well, I mostly surf the web, write, and play Sims on this thing. Ocassionally I'll listen to music or watch a video, but it's not a necessity.
-DW: Do you think you'd be able to safely move over all your files?-
Thanks to the wonder that is WinRAR, sure.
-D: *shakes head* All this to play Sims.-
Hey, today's session was brutal. I play Sims to relax, not curse at my computer. I'll keep thinking about it.
On that note, we have a
revison_doc update -- somehow, I made it through playing the Shaw household. Next up are the Robinsons for a quiet Wednesday, then over to college again. Have to see how things go with Marty and his Time Travel Major, and then send them all out with Doc and maybe Julia to get some clothes and party hard. :)
And now, back to productivity. And perphaps playing a few rounds of Traps, Mines, and a Sheep.
