crossover_chick: gif with Doc and Marty trying to get out of being written into twisted AUs (EEK)
Shock of shocks, the Rift Mods actually got back to me yesterday. (Ironically, I saw the e-mail just moments before I tried fiddling with Sims.) Figuring they'd finally gotten around to sending me the official rejection notice, I opened it after I'd messed with Sims and gotten my other shit together:
Application looks good! We can't officially accept you until you've made the journal and given us an icon to put on the cast list, so if you want to make the journal and join it to the comm, go ahead!

WHAT???? Wait a minute, something is weird here -- what happened to THIS (from the OOC community, from the mods):
A new rule just for future reference.

We are no longer going to accept characters from other role playing systems like Ragnorak Online or DnD.

It's very difficult to translate them into this role playing game and really there's just an original character waiting there... just in the wrong world/system.

Thank you!

Comment 1
What does that mean? Just wondering, I'm a little confused... sorry.

Comment 2
Like characters from/based off of games like Ragnorak Online, Changeling, or Dungeons and Dragons, that sort of thing.

The whole reason I assumed I was an automatic reject was because of that post, especially the reference to "Changeling" made in the comments!
-RPD: Er, the commenter just mentioned Changeling randomly?-
Doesn't jibe with me. Ask 20 people to name a game from White Wolf -- I would guarantee you that at least 3/4's, if not more, would immediately name "Vampire: The Masquerade" or "Vampire: The Requiem," with the Werewolf titles being next popular. Changeling, although pretty awesome, is a MINI-line. Not something I think someone would name offhand!

*badly confused* Do I accept or reject now? *shakes head*

A chance link to the TV Tropes Wild Mass Guessing page on "Girl Genius" (incidentally, WHY is there no BTTF page suggesting Doc is a Time Lord? It's so OBVIOUS), and suddenly I'm all hopped up on silly. This is a problem when you're writing serious stories.
-HD: Good! Go write some humor!-
-MHG: With tea and crumpets!-
-WRM: And it involves fairy tales, I have to be a boy!-
-D: Did you at least write something at work?-
Yeah -- it was busy, but I got in a page of "Forward to the Past."
-VD: At least we have that.-
I'm sorry! I didn't mean to! I honestly expected some form of productivity!
-DW: Now your brain's all hyped up on transformation rays and epic crossovers.-
I still say The Angry Video Game Nerd and Yahtzee should meet up. You just know those two would be epic.
-VD2: What are we going to do with you?-
-OD: Strap her to the chair, first off. I saw her bouncing off the walls literally again.-
Ooo, bondage? <3
-OD: . . . *backs away slowly*-
I'm teasing, you big goof.
Anyway, yeah, not much accomplished. Though I did pop into Sims for a while.
-RPD: Really??-
Yeah. Tried to play the Smiths, but they kept freezing and popping out of actions randomly.
-M2: That's not good.-
Yeah, but I'm pretty sure it's just my downloads folder -- it's equipped for FreeTime, you see. I let them be and instead made a log cabin for my naturalist Sims:
Image Hosting by Picoodle.com Outside. There's a pond for fishing, and the three fruit trees and some soil for gardening.
Image Hosting by Picoodle.com Image Hosting by Picoodle.com Interior shots. It's very sparse -- good for a starter house or for a Sim who's supposed to be a very "live off the land" type.
-RPD: Not bad. Nice to see you getting into Sims again.-
Yeah, I know. I missed the little buggers. Now if only FreeTime would god-damn install. . . .
-TD: Want me to make some system adjustments?-
. . . You know it's gotten bad when I'm tempted to take you up on that offer.
-TD: *scowl* I do good work and you know it.-
Yeah, it's just modern electronics don't work well with steam.
-DW: What about your other dilemma?-
[livejournal.com profile] beyondtherift, you mean?
-D: Well?-
I --
-RPD: *biggest, saddest puppy dog eyes he can muster*-
X.X
-VuM: Think you piled on a little too much "cute" there, RPD.-
-TD: *pulling in some fiendish-looking device* Cle--
I'm okay!
-TD: -.--
Annnyway -- I -um- might actually do it. I'm still confused as hell, don't get me wrong, and concerned about the Marty complement I'd like to bring in--
-RPD: So write back and explain. This isn't rocket science.-
-DW: It's obvious you want to do this. We saw the plotbunnies.-
-MF: And your fruitless attempts to squash them.-
. . . .
Let me see if my preferred journal's name is open.
-RPD: AT LAST!-

[livejournal.com profile] clockwork_doc is nominally open for business. As in, it's up, but there are no entries. *shrug*
