Sadness, Steampunk, and Dead Rifts
Jul. 19th, 2008 10:15 pmFor those of you not in the know, the complete three acts of Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog are up. Watch them now, because after Sunday you won't be able to watch them for free anymore. Have to get them off iTunes. There will also be a DVD release, which I may have to get. (They're going to have a commentary that's a musical too!) Fair warning, though -- the ending is rather sad.
However, mitigating that for me is the fact that DR. HORRIBLE IS IN THE RIFT! First Nikola Tesla (a demon-smiting Nikola Tesla, no less!), now Dr. Horrible! We SO NEED that Mad Science Symposium thingy.
Unfortunately, the Rift appears to be rather dead at the moment. Come on, where is everybody? *is starting to wonder if she's in the wrong time zone*
-RPD: Hmph. I don't like this.-
Hey, Rift!Doc's been getting a lot of action lately -- a dry spell won't kill us. I just want entertainment! (Sing, Dr. Horrible! Oh, I hope the fact the source is a musical is related to his power. . . .)

_coherent, that game Aubrey and Cole came up with, about planning the end of the world with cards -- I seriously believe you could sell that. It sounds AWESOME. :D
RPD wasn't left totally in the dust today, though. I played some Sims. Specifically, I played Eureka again to see how Emmett was doing.
-TD: And how is he?-
He is awesome. He actually went downtown twice in one day.
-VD2: o.O? You never do that!-
-HD: What was the occasion?-
Well, the first was to get him some new duds. I found this great girl who's making steampunk clothes for Sims (
serendipityhq, check it out), and downloaded some stuff, hoping to use it for Emmett and Emma. To my surprise, it wasn't the brown trenchcoat outfit I most liked him in, but a blue number called "the Doctor":

Doesn't he look elegant?
-J: *impressed* Yeah! Blue-green looks like your color, Doc.-
-D: Er, thanks.-
And lucky me, it's classified as both formal and everyday. So I bought it for the everyday price, but I'm using it as his formal. I just wish it didn't cover his watches. I'm very proud of the fact he's my first Doc to actually have the watches on both wrists.
-VD: Well, you could put him in something with thinner sleeves.-
She's made some new stuff, so I might just do that. Now, I got him some new lady acquaintances so he could start searching for a mate again on that trip too. But that quickly became moot after he got home.
-DW: Er, how? Was there a three-bolt woman on his doorstep?-
Nooo. Meadow asked him out on a date!
-MF: What, seriously?-
Yup! She called again, and this time I had the presence of mind not to freeze up! I sent them to the Inkwell for shits and giggles -- they had a Good time. Didn't want to move too fast for fear of upsetting her (townies can be fussy about romance), but the date ended with a kiss and mild crush.
-OD: *tentacles chatter* So, is it true love then?-
Might be. I'm still holding out for a three-bolter if I can get it, but you know how I like townies that actively pursue my Sims. We'll see what happens.
-HD: Ahh, spring, when a young man's fancy lightly turns to love.-
Well, actually, it's fall in the game.
-HD: Oh. Ah well. Love cares naught for seasons.-
True enough. :) You can read all about things over at
eurekasims.
I shall end on a picture of Emmett being a cardshark (he won $60 in poker on their date, so profitable all around):
