crossover_chick: gif with Doc and Marty trying to get out of being written into twisted AUs (Default)
So, went off and saw the movie today. My thoughts on it:
-->Visually, it was MAGNIFICENT. The review was right in describing it as eye candy. This Wonderland is truly gorgeous.
-->Story-wise -- well, I liked it. I like Mia as Alice, and I think Johnny Depp did a darn fine Hatter. (It was kind of nice to see one who actually makes hats on-screen.) I'm not saying it was a masterpiece of storytelling (mileage will vary), but I liked what Tim Burton put up there. Let me put it this way, I'll buy the DVD.
-->Tweedle Twins were not quite as creepy as I thought. The Knave of Hearts, though -- sheesh. Crispin, you have to stop playing creepy asshole so well.
-->It was definitely worth seeing on the IMAX -- the 3-D was great.
Now, to show you guys what sort of fan I've become of this stuff. You see, there's a detail I left out when talking about this trip before.
I went in costume.

The blue dress I had before -- some of you may remember I was American McGee's Alice for Halloween one year, so I just reused that. The new alternate apron my Mom made the other day from an old shirt of hers -- we ironed on the American McGee's Alice pic just for fun. The headband is just an ordinary plastic headband, and the shoes are an old pair of Mom's that don't fit her anymore. Not too shabby, huh? I did get a compliment on it at the mall. :)
I also brought along Victor Plush. Yes, I am that much of a dork. ^^; But come on, it was a Tim Burton movie. Here he is doing his prepwork for the film:

He's holding my Dr. Who watch there -- I brought it along with me since I didn't want to wear my wristwatches in costume, but I also wanted a way to tell the time. And come on, tell me it doesn't look a bit Wonderlandish.
Didn't do much else at the mall, though we stopped by Newbury's briefly after the movie. They didn't have the new Ghostbusters pack I was looking for, but they did have an interesting Spidey set, so I got that.

Introducing, insulated Spidey and Electro! :D Yeah, I thought I ought to have the electricity-themed villain around. Gotta love him and his stupid costume.

The boys with their accessories -- Spidey has a blue "insulated" mask piece that fits over his normal head, while Electro has two lighting pieces that sort of fit over his wrists.
After that, it was back home. I caught up on the stuff I missed, and naturally played some more American McGee's Alice. Made it up to the final boss battle! And I think I got every power up this time, including the hidden Ragebox in Ascension. :D Now all that's left is to kill the Queen.
I also have Alice chatting with the Knave of Hearts over in [livejournal.com profile] dear_mun, so let me get back to that.
