Finished the Alice Playthrough On YouTube
Apr. 16th, 2011 11:57 pmI need to remember that people doing blind playthroughs genuinely do not know about some of the secrets and suchlike that those of us with more experience with the game know (like finding grasshopper tea, or in some cases just plain knowing where to go -- American, your game wasn't very clear at times). I also have to remember that they cannot hear me through the screen, and even if they could, it would make no difference as they've already played through the shit by the time it ends up on YouTube.
-M: *chuckles* Tough watch?-
I kept wanting to point out stuff that I felt was obvious! Though again, the guy kept NOT using the Jabberwock's Eye Staff! Granted, he did eventually figure out how to use the jackbomb and jacks to best effect, but why do people refuse to use the amazing laserbeam of death?! If I were Alice, I would never put that thing down until you pried it out of my cold, dead hands!
-VuM: Or until American McGee makes a sequel with new weapons.-
This is true. I don't care how the sequel works, however -- in my mind, she's still got the original set somewhere.
-VM: How many weapons would that make altogether?-
-VD2: Let's see -- the vorpal blade is in both games. The cards, croquet mallet, jackbomb, ice wand, jacks, diabolical dice, Jabberwock's eye staff, and blunderbuss are from the first game. The hobby horse, teapot cannon, pepper grinder, and bunny bomb are from the second. That's 13 altogether -- which, considering the canon, is a good number.-
-TD: Hang on, what about the Deadtime watch?-
-VD2: That's really more of a powerup than a weapon. I'd group that with the second game's parasol as a defensive rather than offensive item. If you'd like to put those with the weapons, however, that brings the total up to 15.-
-TTV: Goodness, she is well-equipped.-
Alice is a goddess of death.
-TTV: No doubt, but -- does Secundus!Alice have all of these?-
All of the first game's stuff, anyway -- except the Jabberwock's Eye Staff. Nobody's managed to make one of those yet. I might let her have the hobby horse too, and/or the rabbit bombs. Why?
-TTV: She doesn't have a hammerspace. How does she carry it all?-
Well, she doesn't, usually -- on most days, she just takes along the vorpal blade. She has various belts and bandolier-type things for when she needs more. I can picture her looking particularly badass with the croquet mallet and hobby horse strapped to her back. :D
-M: Like Nicholas Angel's gun "wings" in Hot Fuzz?-
Along those lines, yes. :D
And now, I'm gonna go catch up a little on the forum. And see if I can figure out the latest puzzle on the American McGee site. The last one was a recipe -- and it turned out to be Mock Turtle Soup. XD This one's math, however. . . .
