Sim-Cloning, AUs, and Icons
May. 24th, 2011 11:49 pm. . .This is one of those days where I thought I had more to talk about, but for the life of me I can't remember what. *shrug* Ah well.
Today was a day mostly wasted on Miniclip -- they have a new game on there that for some reason I'm newly addicted to. Who knew that bouncing characters off a balloon could be so fun? I also decided to check out more of that Sherlock Holmes-based forum that I bookmarked for the stuff on shaving. Turns out there's a whole bunch of topics on there about Victorian life! Including a whole thing on a guy's wardrobe! *is happy*
-M: I gotta admit, I don't get why you're so obsessed over this stuff. You haven't written anything yet that lets you show off all the knowledge and shit.-
-VuM: He's got a point. I mean, your big thing these days, "Secundus," ain't exactly historically accurate.-
I know, I know, but it's still fun to learn about. Besides, I might be able to use it once the Traveler-verse gets off the ground.
-MF: Traveler-verse?-
-DW: Otherwise known as the "both canons happened" verse.-
-MF: Oh, that one.-
Yeah. I call it the Traveler-verse because of the twist: certain people have the ability to visit different dimensions without any assistance. Both Alice and Victor have it -- Emily technically did NOT have to drag Victor away.
-TTV: So that version of me could have left the Land of the Dead any time he wanted? I'd say he must feel a bit silly, but the mess turned out the best for everyone in the end, so. . . .-
Yeah, I know. I'll flesh it out more once A:MR comes out. Just another reason to be excited.
-TD: Now, how about we discuss what's in your title there -- Sim-cloning?-
Yeah. I was gonna make my new college family today in Sims, but I belatedly realized that I was missing a character model. So I visited EVL instead (he's not up to much at the moment, though he's gone nocturnal) and later popped into Bodyshop to make a Young Adult clone of the character I needed.
-RPD: But how many people have you made in Bodyshop? There's Nell, and then -- there's Victor.-
Yeah, Victor was the one I needed.
-RPM: But you've got a Victor in the Sim Bin already! Why do you need one in college?-
Well, it's not Victor, per say, I just needed the model.
-D: But who -- Wait a minute. Does this character you're creating WORK in an university?-
:DD BURSAAAARR!
-M: Okay, how long have you been waiting to do that?-
Aaaages. Though he won't be called Bursar in-game, though. Turns out he has a name, which TV Tropes has provided me: Arthur A Dinwiddie. And of course Ponder Stibbons will be joining him.
-VM: The crazy-as-a-loon math genius and the guy who built a living magical computer. I see this ending well.-
Me too. *eeevil grin* Then again, they'll be away from Ridcully, so maybe the Bursar will find some sanity again.
Item 2 in the title simply refers to today's
charloft prompt, which is all about twins and parallel dimensional yous. Naturally, I found this a rather easy prompt to answer -- and hey, I got to use the Traveler!Victor I mentioned above! Butterfly Boy meets Traveler!Victor
-M2: *snicker* Yeah, you like throwing Victor into the crazy stuff, don't you?-
Hey, the Traveler-verse crazy stuff is CANON-based, let me remind you.
-TTV: You and Mr. Burton would get along well, wouldn't you? I'm surprised you didn't use the "Solicitor's Ward"-Victor, though. Or go meta, considering you have THREE of us.-
Eh, I wanted to do something that touched on his original canon. Traveler!Victor's been on my mind as well, so. . . *shrug*
( Icon Voting Time! )
So yes, that has been my day, apart from a walk with Mom up to the library. Looked like it was gonna pour most of the day, but it finally started clearing up by the time we ate supper. I really hope we're due some nicer weather. (Frankly, the entire COUNTRY could use some, from what I hear. Keep Missouri in your thoughts, folks. :()
