The result of running my computer today? Running my "usual" programs (stuff like Firefox and WordPerfect) didn't cause a shutdown. Running a "critical areas" scan on Kaspersky didn't cause a shutdown either, but trying a full scan did. My experiment of the night will be to later run the Kaspersky full scan again -- it's cooler at night, and I've added a second fan to the equation (and wondering why I didn't before -- it's a lot more liveable in this room now), so I guess we'll see if that has any effect.
-D: I certainly hope so. You're really slacking off creatively.-
I know I am, but I'm scared to let the muse have free reign in case I have to bring the computer back in! (Also vaguely terrified it'll shut off on its own again for no discernible reason, of course.)
-RPD: Yeah, we know. We're just as frustrated as you, honestly.-
I would expect so. I have been doing my best to keep up on my 100 Drabbles, though. I should post some of the ones I've got, get ready for the next round-up post. I'm developing quite the backlog.
Anyway, as for the theories:
-->Original: Overheating issue (this is what the laptop was sent out and fixed for)
-->Revised: EXTERNAL overheating issue (currently being evaluated)
-->New: Kaspersky issue (Mom thinks its this now, and Moose offered it up too -- before I commit to it, let's see a) how Kaspersky runs when it's cooler out and b) if A:MR still triggers the problem with Kaspersky off.)
Frankly, I'm willing to get this thing exorcised if I have to.
-M: *joking* Call in the priests before losing it for another two weeks?-
Oh hell yes.
Okay, right now I need to get my head together to post some drabbles for [livejournal.com profile] 8butterflyboy8. Later! (And keep your fingers crossed we can figure this out!)
