So! The D-Files
Jan. 26th, 2013 11:23 pmI watched Enchanted yesterday with this on, and got a surprise right from the word go. Now, I'd thought this was some sort of trivia track that played with the movie. I was wrong.
It's a GAME.
And a rather fun one too. It's hosted by the man who played the "Grumpy" businessman (the one who gets stuck briefly under Giselle's dress), William Huntley. He offers occasional commentary on the action on-screen, and asks question about what certain parts of the movie are referencing. There's three types of questions: plain old trivia, Extreme Close-Ups (where the idea is to guess the princess before you see the entire picture revealed in various close-ups), and Name That Tune-style, where you pick a certain number of notes to hear of a song, then have to guess the princess associated with the song. If you get a question right, you get a brief video where they talk about the classic Disney princess movies and how they relate to Enchanted. The biggest bits of trivia:
-->Giselle's personality is very much Snow White, with naturally a good amount of Aurora mixed in. They were really pushing the connection to the former during the apple scene -- yes, we get it, this is the most obvious reference ever!
-->Mulan was apparently the first "princess" (she's included in the line despite not being or marrying royalty) to pick up a sword to defend her loved ones.
-->Edward's kind of gently mocking the Periphery Character Prince -- you know, the really early ones who didn't do much of anything except get the girl in the very end. (From what I've heard, at least in the case of Snow's prince, this is partially because the animators felt out-of-their-depth doing a believable guy. The dwarves were easier due to being more cartoony.)
I got most of the questions right, but I missed out on a few. I still think it's a dirty trick to have a question about "a princess who needed to be kissed to wake from an enchanted sleep" and then include both Aurora AND Snow. Still, I had a good time, and I'll probably play again to see if I can get those last remaining questions. You earn bonus videos at the end depending on your score (you get points for each correct answer), and I only got two of the three. I'd like to see the third.
-TTV: Didn't they have a list at the end of all the videos?-
Yeah, but I'm not actually sure if the three "reward" videos were on that. And I actually only watched the "dirty trick" one -- I'd rather see if I can get the others using my own brainpower. :)
Not much to say about today -- most exciting thing that happened was watching Linkara Riffs and getting my Mom a birthday card. Oh, and watching the latest MLP: FiM ep. Which was cringingly hilarious. I find it very amusing how Fluttershy is the only one who seems to actually LIKE Angel. So, yeah. I got some tumblr RPing to do, so later!
