crossover_chick: picture of Alice (Wonderland) in front of the swirling purple Wonderland tunnel (AMA: Alice down the rabbit hole)
He decided to start off by asking his audience questions. XD One of which was who would win in a fight: Godzilla or Mr. Miyagi? Miyagi won by a landslide. XD He also decided to have audience members actually PLAY some of the shitty games he's reviewed, and get a real feel for how shitty they are. And the one he led off with was the Sega Genesis BTTF III game! You know, the one with Doc on the horse, and all those things that are impossible to dodge. I thought that was great.

Other thing to comment on today: Unity Alice! It's a fanmade midquel between AMA and A:MR in production. The graphics look pretty darn amazing -- apparently they've even been able to directly rip/port in some A:MR stuff. But when [personal profile] butterflyboy's Alice on Tumblr, Delusional Beauty, managed to track down the story. . .

Eh. From what I understand from her post and what I tracked down on their own forums, the story is about Alice being released from Rutledge, going back to Oxford, falling back into her hallucinations, and meeting up with Angus Bumby. As my friend pointed out, there's a couple of plot holes already -- it's implied Alice got introduced to Bumby through Pris, and pretty much went straight there after Rutledge, and she wasn't really "cured" when she was released -- the doctors just considered Alice "well enough." But my main problem?

They're using an "Alice is murdering people" plot.

I don't like that. Yes, the Alice games are M-rated for a reason, but all of Alice's murdering, except for one key instance, happens in Wonderland. And all of it could arguably be called self-defense. You never attack anything that isn't going to try and bite your head off. (Well, all right, you could attack friendlies in the first game, but you weren't SUPPOSED to. Nothing happens to them if you do.) Yes, she sometimes got violent in the asylum, but she always stopped short of actually killing anyone. She was always more of a danger to herself. And I just don't like the idea of Alice killing people, even in a delusional haze. (Not to mention that being a possible-multiple murderer might make her still being free in A:MR hard to swallow. . .)

I dunno. The game does look good, and I kind of like the idea of Alice going back to her Oxford roots for a bit. I think I'd have to wait and see a more official, polished story (the one we found was buried in the "we've got a Cheshire!" thread).

All right, RPing and suchlike calls -- later!
