Happy One Year From The Future Day!
Oct. 21st, 2014 10:04 pmMan it's going to feel weird when we actually hit 2015. . . darn it, movie, we were supposed to have hoverboards and flying cars by now! *shakefist* Speaking of which, watched the hoverboard chase in honor of the day. :) Good times, even if that bit has easily the worst special effect in all the movies. (Seriously, they desperately needed to refilm Griff's hoverboard flying off his feet, at least. It just looks so -- artificial.)
I also promised you an update on the wedding business, so here's the long-delayed next bit. I'm rather proud of myself for working in a "Alice's universe runs at a different speed" explanation for my own procrastination/lack of time. Makes me feel less guilty for being a butt. But of course the real interest of this piece should be obvious.
That's right -- one of my Victors is finally giving up his last name. Doc gonna visit the Nexus tomorrow to ask if anyone else has had a friend suddenly ask to adopt him. :D Never guessed it would be DG who did it first, would you? But that's just how things have worked themselves out. . .
In other news, we had a blackout at work today! I was working in the program where I get my data, renaming some files that need to be rescanned so the scanners can actually figure out where and what they are, when suddenly my monitors (I have two, one for the Excel and one for the Laserfiche program) go dark, as do my lights. A quick look up confirms that the entire office, and indeed the entire building, has gone dark. A latecomer to the building then tells us that it's not just us -- a good chunk of downtown Providence is suddenly without power, with fire engines screaming everywhere and streetlights out. With little to do, people wandered around and wondered if we'd be let out early. I worked on my sudoku book for lack of anything else. Power finally came back up around 11:40, after about a hour and a half of darkness (when I looked at the clock when it started, it was about 10:15) -- but then it took an extra half-hour for network access to be restored so I could actually do my job. So, uh, yeah, fun morning. O.o
Oh, and the cause of all this drama? A motherfucking SQUIRREL. They won't say how. The hell.
Anyway, I need to get to bed -- see you tomorrow for Dockie-Wockie's birthday! :D
