Have spent a good chunk of my day out and about! First of all, there was work, of course -- long and boring today due to the scanning people having computer troubles (which was fortunately just a Windows update being a little shit and not the computer bricking itself as previously feared) and just generally being slow because of reasons. Meh.

Fortunately, I didn't have to endure it as long as usual -- a graduation next door meant an early dismissal at three. Which also meant my parents and I could go to the IMAX to see the earlier showing of San Andreas! My parents drove up to the mall (where the theater is) on their own, and I hiked over to meet them when I got out. Movie followed, and MAN. This is an absolutely amazing disaster movie and if you can see it in 3-D (preferably IMAX-style), you really ought to. I got out of the theater feeling like I'd just been on an intense roller coaster. There is scenery gorn EVERYWHERE, it's amazing. The story itself hits a lot of usual cliches, but it handles them well and made me feel for the characters. My only real complaints are the whole "women cannot stay dirty even in disaster movies" dealie (while both major female characters get injured, they seem to get cleaned up pretty easily and quickly) and a moment that felt a bit too much like post 9-11 MURRICA with the waving of a giant American flag. (Weirdly enough, I think it could have been averted if they'd just used the California state flag -- while there's talk that the mega-quakes in the movie will have global implications, almost the entire movie is focused on California, specifically Los Angeles and San Francisco.) However, these are ultimately minor quibbles with something that, if you're looking for a in-your-face disaster extravaganza with a likeable lead, should satisfy you entirely. :)

After the movie, we took a drive through town (running into some idiot trying to park in a no-parking, one-way, single-lane road -- gunning the horn finally got him to move) and headed to a place called Uncle Tony's for dinner. Had a pretty decent meal there -- bread, appetizer platter, and a "Plumpy" for me (and Mom -- Dad had baked manicotti), which is essentially a spinach pie. I ended up only having half of mine (mostly because I started out with two pieces of bread, two chicken tenders, two mozzarella sticks, and a baked ravioli from the appetizer platter) -- the other half's in the fridge for lunch tomorrow. It was a good meal, though, and we even got to eat outside since the weather was halfway decent for a change. :) Good times.

And then it was back home, where I took my shower, caught up with a few things, and did a TV Tropes binge after looking up the movie there, because that's what I do. :P Gonna see if I can do a late set-up of my tumblr queues now -- I do have some stuff to catch up on too. . .of course, there's always "one more page" syndrome. . .

We'll see what happens. :P Night!
