Not My Best Tuesday
Aug. 4th, 2015 10:56 pmOf course any day that starts with you having to get your bus to work in the tail end of a severe thunderstorm isn't going to qualify as your "best" by a long stretch. RI got swept by a fast-moving, nasty storm today -- Warwick got hit the worst, but my part of the state got some nasty stuff too. Tree branches down everywhere, and we had a very brief power outage this morning. I gave some serious thought to saying I simply couldn't make it due to not being able to make the bus, but we got up there as things were clearing out, and I made it to Providence safely and on time. Though I did get the unusual experience of getting to watch an electronic billboard short out on the way up there. . .
Work itself was rather frustrating -- I had to redo a certain report twice because of additional information and weird discrepancies popping up. (I work in the fundraising department, which involves dealing with money, natch, so you've got to keep a careful eye on it!) And then I learned that the guy who replaced me on the project I was hired to do as an intern has been let go, so I've got to help train a new person tomorrow morning, and help out with this other related thing regarding sending spreadsheets back to the schools, and learning how to do billing stuff, and -- gah. Just too much to do! I just keep reminding myself, get through this week, and I don't just have a half-day on Friday, I also have a three-day weekend. Won't THAT be nice? I'm hoping to get up to the mall for a couple of hours on my half-day, but the forecast is calling for rain. . .we'll see.
Right now, I've got a couple things to wrap up, then it's time for bed. Night all, sleep tight!
