Obituary Friday
Jun. 3rd, 2016 11:30 pmAs in, that's basically what I did at work today -- we keep the obituaries from the paper so we can update our database if necessary, and we've been falling behind on that, so -- since I didn't have anything else pressing today -- I grabbed a bunch and went through them. Lot of names to update/merge/what have you. . .not the most exciting of days, but at least the time went by. And I had a nice sandwich and fruit for lunch, so that was good. I even got in a walk in the afternoon when the weather cleared up a bit -- though that proved the shoes I was wearing weren't really good for walking in. The left one digs into the back of my heel, I don't know why. Fortunately we had a band-aid I could put on to help keep away blisters.
Not much else to say, really -- started edits on Chapter 2 of "In The Land Of The Dead." Revamping the opening conversation quite a lot -- once again, trying to show not tell. I'm still amazed with my younger self's tendency to put interesting shit off-screen and cover it in a paragraph of exposition. . . Hooray for writerly growth, I guess. And for reading a book that pulls some of the same shit and makes you realize just how annoying it is. (Thanks, Riverworld!) Very unlikely it'll be ready in time for next week, but at least progress is still being made.
Only other news really is that I finally got a new dragon in DragonVale -- the Plains dragon. Named him Gaz because he looks something like a gazelle. So that's good -- now I just need to score that next Crystalline. . .and Gaia, of course. Have completed the tree, so all that remains is to assemble the nest! Already got a couple of pieces too, so that's good. Fingers crossed I get her sooner rather than later!
And now I've got to finish up a few points of interest -- night all, sleep tight!
