My DragonValing Days May Be Numbered
Dec. 15th, 2016 11:01 pmThe app's been prone to crashing on me lately, and it's gotten exponentially worse with the Frosty Jubilee update. I can generally go around the park and collect money all right, but anything that involves me opening the list of dragons I have (breeding, either with myself or co-op, competing in any of the colosseums, setting up quests, racing) almost always causes a crash. I also can't get into the Market. Funnily enough, the problem they know about -- crashing going into your list of friends in the Social menu -- works fine for me. Though admittedly I just go in, collect gifts, and throw back a few gems -- I stopped visiting people a while back. (Too much time, and -- well -- the game tended to crash in certain parks.) Sometimes I can get something set up if I go fast (like with the main Colosseum), but most of the time the game just stops, goes black, and boots me back to the home screen. I have no idea if this is a problem on their end, or on mine -- it should be noted that I play this game on an iPad Mini, and one that's a few years old at this point. (I think three?) But it's damn frustrating and booting the game might be easier than paying who knows how much for a new iPad (especially when pretty much all of my other games work all right -- Fruit Ninja Free's crashed a couple of times lately, but it's still way more stable than DragonVale right now). I sent them an e-mail on the subject -- we'll see if and when they get back to me and what they say.
Honestly, it's been a bit of a grumpy day for me overall:
-->Surprisingly complicated thing with an overpaid pledge -- donor wanted the money donated to a different cause, then wanted it in memory of someone -- it's all settled, but it was hard to get our heads wrapped around how we were going to do that
-->Got out early thanks to the Christmas Party being today (I didn't go, largely because I don't really like parties, I didn't want to sit through a Mass, and none of my coworkers were going because of various reasons); promptly ran into awful traffic because of a crash. Still got home slightly earlier than normal, so yay there at least
-->Attempted more Chapter 8 of "Remembering You" -- got about 400 words down, but I was having trouble figuring out just what I wanted to say -- and this is when I was really struggling with the DragonVale issue, so that didn't help. Eventually just saved what I had and wrote another Christmas fic. At least writing was done!
-->It's freaking COOOOOOLD -- temperature is apparently 21, but we have high winds creating a lot of wind chill. . .and tomorrow's supposed to be even WORSE. -10+ F in the morning with wind chill. D: At least it's supposed to warm up again for the weekend, even hitting the 50s. . .too bad it's supposed to rain as well. *grumps* At least it was a good excuse for hot chocolate (DECENT hot chocolate, mind -- I warmed up some milk. Using water really just does not work).
So yeah. Not the best of Thursdays. *sigh* But at least tomorrow's Friday, and I'll have the weekend mostly to myself. Do gotta get Mom's Christmas present, though, but that shouldn't be too big a deal. Right now, though, it's bedtime. Night all!
