Happy Boxing Day!
Dec. 26th, 2016 11:23 pmI spent the majority of the day out and about at my Auntie Anne's. We were there for three main purposes:
-->Catching up on each other's lives (they're all doing well, my cousin is teaching now and has a girlfriend hoping to go into animal behavior)
-->Have lunch (turkey, potatoes, string beans, squash, salad)
-->Exchange Christmas presents and have me open my birthday present
What I didn't realize that there was a secret fourth purpose -- surprise me with a homemade birthday cake! Seriously, Mom managed to bake a cake for me on Thursday, frost it this morning while I was asleep, then box it up and get it to Auntie Anne's house by telling me it was another present for my cousin. It was good cake too -- chocolate and white, only the "white" bit was actually tinted various shades of purple! It didn't come out as dark as Mom wanted, but it still looked cool -- and tasted really good. Though it's definitely a cake you need a drink with, as I discovered when I had another piece earlier tonight. There's still plenty left over too. :) Though I'll probably save the rest (after a piece tomorrow, since that's ACTUALLY my birthday) until after the New Year. (Or perhaps have a bit on New Year's Eve? Hmm.)
As for my presents, my Christmas present was The Compleat Ankh-Morpork City Guide, and my birthday present GURPS Discworld. I am thrilled with both, so far mostly because they have amazing illustrations. I expect great things of the text as well, though. :) And the Guide comes with a HUGE map of Ankh-Morpork! :D When we finally move and I get a new room, we're planning on having it framed. Ahhh, I needed more Pratchett in my life, and I'm glad I can get it. Hooray for having lots of companion books to go with the main series! :D
Of course, being out for most of the day means I'm a little behind on other things -- I didn't get as much written on Chapter 9 of "Remembering You" as I would like (though I did manage to get June a little more into the conversation, and lightly tease Victor about his sugary tea preferences), and there was no video game time at all. I have managed to catch up on tumblr, though, and watch Linkara's latest Screw-Ups videos (in which he apologized for a bunch of his mistakes and took the opportunity to harp on some other things that annoyed him -- and tried to take over Channel Awesome by making the Critic starve to death; no dice XD). So that was nice.
Okay, current goals: gonna set up my queue for the next few days, then see about doing some more work on The Valice Multiverse. Getting the tag page set up -- and once I know what my tags are, I can make "explanatory posts" on all my universes, and finally get this thing up and running properly! But I've gotta do this before 1:30/2:00 AM -- tomorrow's another day out and about (traditional D&B visit for my birthday), meaning I want to get up a bit earlier so I have at least some time to write beforehand. So yeah, gotta get moving here. Night all!
