Trouble With Having A Favorite Author:
Feb. 17th, 2017 11:20 pmYou decide to go and seek out one specific passage in a book just to re-read for funsies. . .and you pretty much end up rereading the entire climax of the book because it's so stinking good. Happened to me tonight with Going Postal, one of my favorite Discworld reads (I was looking for the bit where Moist nicknames Adora Belle Dearheart "Spike"). Terry really had a way with words, and with characters, and basically just everything. Even the books I don't like as much still have really good bits in them. Man deserved to be a Sir, that's for damn sure.
In other news, today was a pretty good day. I had plenty to do at work -- big import (which I had to e-mail them about because a gift had been left off), GL, pledge billings, updating credit cards -- the time went by. Spent the evening reworking a scene I wrote for "Londerland Bloodlines" to make it better, watching a few videos on YouTube, and -- well, then I got sucked back into Pratchett, so not the most productive night. Gonna have to MAKE it productive, though, as I have a LOT of stuff to read and reply to. And one other video I'd like to watch (Sims Supply, more vampire fun -- though the episode I've got in my Watch Later is building-focused, but hey, I like seeing that from him too).
So yeah. I also have to make sure I get to bed at a semi-decent hour, as we've got a house to look at tomorrow, and I'm doing the driving. The viewing's at 1:30, so I don't have to get up TOO early, but still. I am going to be very insistent on lunch being part of this trip -- part of the reason I think I was getting so sour about driving earlier was because our drives were turning into three-hour-long lost-half-the-time, stuck-in-the-car, God-I'm-starving hellrides. You feed me, I'll be much happier about the whole business. At least this time we'll also be getting out of the car to walk around too by necessity. . .keep your fingers crossed the house is not a complete shithole, people!
