Running Around Saturday
Dec. 15th, 2018 11:23 pmWell, Saturday MORNING -- Mom and I hit the road to find Dad his Christmas gifts, and succeeded admirably! Got pretty much everything we had on the list except sweatbands, and Mom thinks she can pick those up at WalMart at some point. Dad also managed to get Mom's Christmas presents from me and him earlier in the week, so I'm thinking I'm finally all set for the shopping. Hooray~ Nice to have that part of it all done, at least. Now it's just a matter of wrapping stuff and putting it -- well, on the fireplace, since we don't have a tree. :p We've already got some presents there (Mom was wrapping them up this morning), so the place is starting to look pretty Christmassy.
After we got home and had lunch, I did my room clean -- managed to get it done in a decent amount of time, too. Also managed to complete this year's gift fic rough drafts -- had a burst of inspiration from the BTTF comics regarding the one I still needed to do. Didn't end up playing any games, though, as Mom suggested we watch a movie tonight, and I didn't think I'd have the time to do that and catch up on the stuff I still had in my YouTube subscriptions. So I just watched Sims instead of doing any myself. Specifically, three vids from The Sim Supply:
-->A double-length "Bread To Riches" ep with Gluon -- Willet is officially moving into the big time, thanks to the dual discoveries that normal-quality fudge bars sell for $92-100 a plate, and excellent carrot bread sells for $136-144 a plate. The boys are now working hard on making excellent quality loaves (even upgrading Willet's kitchen a bit -- and selling the old appliances XD) to fund the purchase of actual walls for her living area before winter. She's also leveled up, and making banana bread that also sells for $136-144 a plate. Someone put it best in the comments -- Lady II was living in a trailer park on a top-level actress's salary, but Willet is making money hand over first selling individual servings of bread. XD Sims 4, everyone!
-->Speaking of Lady, James has renovated her Trailer Studios lot, changing the house inside the big studio soundstage into some actual room sets for her to live in -- a living room, a kitchen/dining room, and a bedroom, all built as if you could actually film in them. And if they were from the 70s. XD There's also a room for the kids, a gym, and a bathroom full of all the gaudiest gold furnishings James could find off to the side. XD So she's KIND of moving up in the world. She has a nicer kitchen now, at least. Important as her latest quirk is only liking high-quality food. . .
-->And there was the surprise return of "Rags To Riches EXTREME!" Yeah, haven't seen an episode of THAT in a while. It was mostly James bantering with Zeuz, his roommate (who even took over the episode for a very brief moment, only to be stymied when he couldn't find a toilet for poor Harvey -- James had stuck it into the household inventory to stop customers using it) and discovering what a pain in the ass it is to sell paintings to Sims who would rather sit around, chat, and take selfies with each other. He managed it in the end, but he's pretty eager to get out of the retail "store" business (I use that term very loosely, as what Harvey has is some shelves and a bit of wall) and into the restaurant business instead. Maybe next time, James!
And yes, we watched our movie -- Skyscraper starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. TV Tropes describes it as sort of Die Hard meets The Tower Inferno with a dash of The Fugitive, and that's not a bad way to describe it. It's mostly action silliness with a lot of dramatic scenes of people climbing along cranes or the outside of a burning building, and a plot that really could have been resolved a lot earlier if certain characters didn't insist on doing action movie things (or had been a lot SMARTER with a certain plot point), but it was fun to watch all the ludicrous effects and stunts and make fun of the plot. XD The Rock may not be in masterpieces, but he's made a lot of fun popcorn flicks, and that's okay too.
And now I'm currently doing the RP thing on tumblr while preparing to empty out the inbox. Typical Saturday night. Just glad I got my cleaning done today so I can veg a bit tomorrow. And catch up on the OXBox stuff in my Watch Later list -- got some Hitman vids I've been anticipating, plus the Christmas Challenge is up. :D Maybe I can sneak something in tonight before I go to bed. . . Anyway, night all!
