Another Sick Day
Apr. 25th, 2019 10:53 pmWoke up feeling about the same as yesterday -- sore throat, stuffy nose, general blahs -- so took another sick day off work. Felt a little more awake in general today, at least, which I attribute to a) actually taking some medicine and b) getting over the worst of my period. Nose has definitely been getting stuffier, though -- I'm reasonably sure I'm going to end up taking tomorrow off too just to be on the safe side. Although, again, it's going to be a "see how I feel in the morning" thing. . . Just glad I have apparently not caught the killer cough of doom my parents have. They'll be improving, and then suddenly it'll come back on with a vengeance. Ugh. . . I'll take a super-stuffy nose and icky throat any day.
Anyway, spent the day hanging out again -- not that I could do much else. We had our roof redone today, and the guys kind of had the house on a lockdown while they were taking off the old shingles and putting on the new ones. They did a good job in the end, but they knocked around our gutter guards and their dumpster is still in our driveway. Hopefully the guy comes to pick it up tomorrow. . .especially as the weather's just supposed to get worse as we approach the weekend. Ugh, a couple of genuinely sunny, nice days, and I end up too sick to appreciate them before the rain comes back in. . .at least by this time next week it'll be May, and hopefully leaning toward better weather. And I'll be leaning toward better health. . .ah, right, gotta contact the dentist tomorrow and reschedule my appointment too. Want to give myself a) enough time to recover and b) enough time between this bout of sick days to justify taking a personal day if I need to.
A lot of the day was once again spent watching videos -- some OXBox LP stuff (OctoDad: Dadliest Catch, which featured a lot of hilarious scenery destruction; and OverCooked 2: Campfire Cook Off, in which Jane and Andy rushed to make campfire meals and Jane became obsessed with getting stars for her s'mores, pizzas, and flapjacks); a Kubz Scouts Yandere Simulator update (Senpai can now unmask Yan-chan if she commits murder wearing one in front of him, and you have to break a student's phone after you kill them if they caught you committing murder, otherwise the police will still catch you); a "white shelf build challenge" from The Sim Supply (where he used the new white swatch for the Immaculate Shelf all over the place -- and actually made it look pretty damn good on the windows XD); and Helloween showing off the demo for Lust From Beyond (a sequel to Lust For Darkness in the same "Lovecraftian sex hell using Amnesia: The Dark Descent-style gameplay" vein -- currently being Kickstarted; Helloween backed and got the demo from them). Oh, and a new teaser for Bloodlines 2 showing off an unlucky Thinblood, so that was cool. :) Not quite the same marathon as yesterday, but enough to make the day go by, for sure.
I also played some Fallout 4 -- have NOT found any of the quest locations I set out to find, but I did stumble across a farm (run by the Abernathy family), a raider post, and -- some sort of cargo shipment center, can't recall the full name just now. Been killing dudes, picking up new quests, and dumping stuff I can't carry on my erstwhile companions. Codsworth liked me sympathizing with the Abernathys, who lost their daughter to raiders, and promising to get her locket back, but disliked me giving Mama Murphy some drugs to get another vision of my future. I honestly wasn't sure about it myself, and now that I've confirmed on the wiki that continuing to give her drugs leads to a fatal overdose -- gonna see if I can get her clean, even if I lose the advantage of future visions. I'm trying to play Victor, and Victor is a nice guy who doesn't want to be even accidentally responsible for an old lady's death.
Oh, speaking of the wiki? Discovered there's melons growing RIGHT BEHIND THE SANCTUARY HILLS HOUSE WITH THE WORKBENCHES. *grumble* So there's my food supply. At least I was able to get a gourd off Mrs. Abernathy when I traded with her to plant as well. . .and I'm ahead on building defenses for the town too. I'm trying to get the two Minutemen-related quests I currently have active done before I set off for the main plot again. Now if only I could find Twopines Bluff. . .large overworlds are not good for the perennially lost. At least now I've also made a document to track how my Victor does quests so I can remember what's happened and who likes him. (Counted as my writing for the day -- hey, I have a cold, and I'd prefer to keep the serious writing projects for when I'm not so stuffy.)
Anyway -- need to wrap it up here. Gonna take some nighttime medicine and hit the sack very soon. At least my Valice Multiverse queue is all settled. . . Again, see how things go in the morning. Night all!
