Slowly Coming Back To Myself Saturday
Apr. 27th, 2019 11:05 pmI think taking some cold medicine and sleeping until 10 this morning might have helped with that. Also finally coming off my period. Still not feeling 100% -- nose is still stuffed up, and I have an occasional cough bringing up crud -- but my head's a lot clearer, so yeah, I think I'm on the mend. I'd better be, anyway -- I don't want to be sick next Saturday. It's Alice's birthday, after all. :p
Today was another largely low-key, hanging-about day. We had to have the roof people back in to fix a leak Dad found after yesterday's rainstorms. >( Nothing major, it appears, but still. I am not impressed. Hopefully the repair, and the rest of the roof, holds -- we're still due more rain as we move into May. April showers had better be bringing the May flowers, that's all I'm saying! At least it got sunny later on today. Just having some sun coming in through my windows makes the day a little better.
Highlights of my Saturday:
-->Watching some more riddle videos from Jay and his friend Gloom (one on his channel, one on her channel) -- they really highlight how ridiculous some of the 7-Second riddles are. And it's just fun to watch them having gigglefits over the silly scenarios and their own goofy answers. :p
-->Catching up on my Helloween vids -- starting with the next set of Dead Space 2, which finally introduced us to Ellie! She is an all-around badass who doesn't particularly trust Isaac yet, but is at least willing not to leave him out in the cold (releasing door locks and not shooting someone Isaac says he needs not-dead). Helloween has fond memories of her from the original LP, so I'm looking forward to getting to know her better. :) There were also many fights against exploding babies and spindly children in the space station's daycare, which -- wow. This game did not pull any punches about how horrible the Marker and its effect on people is. Yikes. At least it makes for a good horror game. . .
There was also another set of Secret of Mana 2 -- our protagonists have conquered the Moonlight Forest and the Lampflower Forest, receiving the powers of Luna and Dryad respectively! After, in both cases, facing down against a HUGELY HARD BOSS. Lugar of the Beast People was the real monster of the two -- he almost pulled off a total party kill with two hits of a certain move! Only the fact that Duran has HP to spare saved the trio from a game over. Gildervine wasn't quite as bad, but poor Carlie had to spend the majority of the fight poisoned, and everybody kept getting sleep flowered at inconvenient moments. Plus Carlie got a major mental ding from learning the backstory of her parents -- a human and an elf who fell in love, had her, then proceeded to die, sending Carlie out into the human world to be raised by the priest of Light and the elf village into hiding to prevent another mixed marriage. Fun stuff! But we have all the spirits, so next time, it's off to the Mana Holy Land!
-->Played some Fallout 4 -- Victor's activated a guard robot at the Wicked Shipping Fleet Lockup and raided it for goodies; gone back to Concord and the Museum of Freedom to get back a bunch of his old goodies; dumped all his junk into the workbenches in Sanctuary Hills and the Red Rocket, and a bunch of his spare clothes into a dresser in his old house; started a melon and gourd garden around the back of the workbench house (which FINALLY completed the food portion of the "Sanctuary" quest); built some stairs to talk to Sturges (who'd gotten himself stuck on a roof, damn it Besthesda) and FINALLY complete that quest; upgraded some guns and armor; built a special chair for Mama Murphy; and then wandered around Sanctuary Hills looking fruitlessly for his dog after dismissing Codsworth as a companion. Seriously, I just CANNOT find Dogmeat! Apparently he's supposed to be hanging around one of the doghouses in the area, but I've checked them all multiple times. . . I looked it up and this is apparently a common problem. Might have to use a console command to teleport either me to him or him to me. (Also have to figure out how to equip him with clothes -- I have some red bandanas I think he'd look sharp in.) But at LEAST I've finished the Sanctuary quest by finding that damn food! Now I just have to find the settlement Garvey asked me to look into. . .and that locket for the farming couple. One of these days I'll get back to the actual plot. :p
-->Got the next Scene From Secundus up: #7: Cinnamon from the 25 Foods! Another one that I've rewritten some to clean up some clunky bits. Also one that doesn't have THAT much to do with its prompt, other than cinnamon being one of the flavors of the cookies on offer. But hey, it's a cute little scene with the Van Dorts on vacation in Mechanicsburg, so I think I'm good. :) (Though it took me a while to get the notes properly settled, yeesh -- lot to explain about a short fic! Lot to check up on, too. . .)
Not much else to say -- doing some of the RP thing on tumblr, gonna clear up comments on here now. Victor Luvs Alice queue is sorted for the next couple of days, and I've got PLENTY of Sims 4 updates for the pipeline now. One good thing about this forced time off -- I did get a lot done with my vidya games. :p Still, I'll be happy to be better and get back to my routine. And then take some time off later that isn't tainted by sore throats and stuffy noses. :p Night all!
