Computer Fixed
May. 13th, 2019 10:54 pmIt was an error I'd had before, and had bookmarked the steps to fixing it. Method 1 didn't do much for me, but Method 2 has my Outlook updating properly again, and got rid of the error message I was receiving about the Group Policy Client, so hopefully everything's hunky-dory again. (I did make backups before diving into this, don't worry. Having an external hard drive is very handy in situations like this.) It DID take up more of my evening than I would have liked, but -- well. Better to fix it now and not have to worry about it the rest of the week.
Day itself was all right, if unseasonably cold and gloomy. Seriously, it feels like we're heading straight back into winter here! Which -- given this is the lower edge of a storm bringing SNOW to Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. . . Fortunately we're supposed to get past the worst of it by the end of Tuesday, and then Wednesday temperatures start climbing back up to reasonable levels. Rain remains a threat, but I can take the rain a little better if it's at least WARM. I'm so sick of it being so COLD all the time. Ugh.
Anyway, work wasn't too bad -- morning was taken up with the GL (tracking down ACH payments and batches to make sure everything was reconciling), and then in the afternoon I focused mainly on getting some of the returns done. Got one whole batch sorted, so that was nice. :) And tomorrow is going to be largely about calling parishes and asking about some of THEIR returns. Gotta get things moving, after all! So yeah, productive day, I'm glad of it.
I also got my writing done eventually, after I'd gotten through fixing up that Group Policy problem. Back on "Secundus 2," as I promised myself -- mostly introductions to the McFly family. And Gordon Tannen, who's just realized that weirdo standing among all the other weirdos is the weirdo he used to bully. It's not going to be a pleasant reunion, exactly. . .though Victor's at least going to get a bit of his own back for Gordon's mistreatment of him over the years. Which is always nice.
YouTubery was limited because of the aforementioned time issues, but I did manage to catch up on Helloween's latest Metro Exodus set! We've made it to a new area, a beautiful river valley -- just in time for Anna's cough to get to the "coughing up blood" stage. Turns out the gas she inhaled during one of the earliest missions may have screwed up her lungs something fierce. Her father and the others are hopeful settling in the valley might help her -- though, naturally, they're also researching medicines in case she needs them. And she probably will, given that the valley, while gorgeous (seriously, this place has some truly amazing scenery), is also inhabited by tribes of grown-up schoolchildren who learned how to survive from their teacher and now have founded bands of "pirates" and "pioneers" who string up bandits and tie them to posts for the wolves. Artyom literally crashed into the whole mess thanks to a collapsing rail line while on a recon expedition with a friend, and now has to rescue said friend without alerting the locals. Helloween is not keen on the forced stealth, but he's actually not half-bad at it if he tries, gotta say. Too bad Cutscene Artyom keeps making him look bad. :p Plus there this giant bear roaming around which might make life a little more difficult in the future. . .
And I just got two parts of my three-part Newcrest Adventures update for Wednesday on tumblr sorted, with the pictures and a bit of text for the third part queued as well. Hooray accomplishing things! :) So now I just have to take care of comments, and I should be all set for the night. Hopefully I don't freeze tomorrow. . .ugh, I really hope they're right about the temperatures going back up on Wednesday. I want more nice weather, darn it. *sigh* Fingers crossed, folks! Night all!
