Hot Mini-Golf Action!
Aug. 15th, 2019 11:11 pmAs in, we went mini-golfing and it got rather hot outside. XD Today's trip was to Fantasyland, a little mini-golf/family fun center just over the border in Seekonk, MA. I thought it would be a really simple course, since they seem to be catering to families with little kids -- but it really WASN'T. Or, at least the half we played (Victoria Gold) wasn't. Lots of tricky holes that we had trouble on -- especially one where the hole was in the middle of this raised crater, and the lip of said crater wasn't QUITE high enough to stop your ball going over it if you hit it a LITTLE too hard. . . There were also some nice water features and little buildings, including a very cute miniature Victorian house and miniature saw mill. :) I didn't end up winning (too many bad holes), but I DID score TWO holes in one! Neither of my parents even got one! So I'm pretty proud of that.
I swear, though, the ride up and back were some of the most stressful experiences of my life -- namely because every idiot and asshole seemed to be out. We only just avoided an accident like three times because of someone suddenly hitting their brakes, or getting too close on a turn, or not using their turn signal. Not particularly relaxing! O.o I just hope traffic isn't like that tomorrow -- I really don't need that on my half-day Friday.
Lunch was kind of a bust too -- we stopped by a local pizza joint, since we'd had a good pizza from them before, and ordered some sandwiches. Unfortunately, they were all pretty bleh -- edible, but with the absolute minimum effort put in. I got a chicken parm, and it tasted fine, but I've had MUCH better. We may have scratched them from our list of places to get food (or, at least, we'll never get anything but a pizza again). At least I was able to make up for it later with a hike over to Dunkin to get a frozen hot chocolate. Always nice to get a little treat on a hot day. :)
Other things of note:
-->Got my period today! So my mood and concentration aren't the best, unfortunately. However, I'm glad it's here, as this means I won't be dealing with it on my vacation next week! I was starting to genuinely worry it was going to ruin the various trips we're planning on taking. (We WERE considering going to Busch Gardens, Williamsburg, but A) none of us were really that keen on making the drive down and B) the weather is supposed to be kind of thunderstormy down there during the planned weekend, so. . .)
-->Watched a bunch of videos, including:
A) The latest Atop The Fourth Wall, which -- WOW, that was a bad one. Booster Gold story arc about him giving a "present" to Bruce Wayne for his upcoming wedding to Selina Kyle in the current run of the Batman book that involved time travel, and saving his parents (deliberately, so they could go back and make sure they died again later once Bruce decided the old timeline was better -- it's weird), and how the world turned to shit because of that, and CRIPES was it horribly written. Good old-fashioned Linkara rage at various character assassinations and idiotic decisions. And apparently this was all in service to an event that took all this bad writing and cranked it up to ELEVEN. . .looking forward to THAT review sometime next year!
B) Some videos of Kevin exploring the world of Minecraft, building up his little farm and exploring a cave with lots of mine shafts underneath his property (nearly getting lost/flooding the place in the process). Usual goofy antics as he hacks up his environment and stuffs animals into pens to force them to make babies. :p
C) The latest "Rags To Riches Island Edition" episode from James -- Banana has had her baby! She had to go back to her home lot to do it, as she couldn't have the child at her retail lot, but she and the boyfriend are now the proud parents to baby girl Column! Yes, James actually named her that -- the viewers insisted. XD The child and the boyfriend are now camped out on the home lot while Banana goes back to manage her growing business (photography is now a potential sideline, as James has the new Moschino Stuff pack with all its updates, and the plantains are really starting to take off now) and get with Canoe Reefs. XD I love the Bigwallets -- they're so full of ridiculous drama.
D) Some videos from "Carl's Sims 4 Guide" on the updates to photography in the new Sims 4 patch and in the Moschino Stuff pack. Not MUCH I haven't heard before, but it was good to watch nonetheless (especially since James confused me for a second as to whether the new poses were in the patch or the pack -- it's the pack). My thoughts now are, I like the updates to photography in Moschino Stuff, but given how little I use that particular skill, I don't think it's worth buying. I may throw my hat into the ring for the SimsVIP free giveaway, but I doubt I'll ever pick it up on my own unless there's a good sale.
-->Played Sims 4 myself -- pretty quiet day with Eric! Another day on the job -- I sent him on patrol for a change of scenery, then went over his new friend Otis's house for a visit after he got home. Eric ended up taking care of his baby for him. XD I should probably enable aging for my NPC Sims at some point -- a lot of them have babies that are never gonna grow up otherwise.
-->Posted the next part of "A Wedding, A Wedding" -- We'll Go To Brighton (But Not For You). AKA, Victor and Alice get a honeymoon, but William and Nell end up more or less disinvited to the wedding after a few nasty words from the latter. Always a bit of fun to write Victor and Alice butting heads with his parents. And to justify further why they weren't in the last chapter of "Fixing You."
-->And I just finished my Valice Multiverse and Victor Luvs Alice queues -- lot of anon asks in the former tonight! Was kind of hoping for something less busy. . .ah well. Time to finish clearing out the inbox and hit the sheets! Just gotta get through the first half of Friday, then it's the weekend! Fallout 4 and room cleaning tomorrow! Night all!
