Another Simmy Sunday
Nov. 17th, 2019 11:26 pmThough it was a bit of a delayed one, given my parents were out this morning, and I ended up waiting for them to get back from their trip before doing anything major on the "watching videos/playing games" front. A -- bit of a mistake, as they got back later than expected, and then cooking lunch took longer than expected. . . *sigh* I just don't like being interrupted in the middle of things, you know? And I DID at least use the time semi-productively -- updated the mods that needed updating in my Sims 4 folder, and prepped my game to get patched! So that was something. Oh, and watched a very short video on the creation of Simlish and how it's done in the studio, which was fun. One of the voice actors did some Simlish Hamlet. XD
Once my parents were home and we refueled with butternut squash soup and barbecue chicken pizza, I went ahead and did the following:
-->Watched James's latest Planet Zoo episode -- we have flamingos! . . .Hurt and diseased flamingos! XD Fortunately, the vets were pretty prompt in taking care of the animals and bringing them back to a healthy state. At least it prompted him to build a quarantine! (And spend probably way too much time making it look good XD His column obsession strikes again!) We also have some new food stalls, and some baby red pandas and Komodo dragons! :D So that's all very nice. Less nice is the wolves fighting for dominance (which -- I'm pretty sure is based on outdated concepts?), but again, vets were pretty prompt at taking care of the problem. Hopefully James is too!
-->Played some Sims 4 -- ended up being a Dr. Wheatley focused day! Mostly because his shift was longer than I expected, and I decided it was probably a bit late for the gang to go out and figure out StrangerVille after he came home. On the plus side, he did REALLY WELL today -- not only did he successfully diagnose and treat the four patients waiting for him in the hospital (that symptom list on Carl's Sims 4 Guides is a lifesaver), we had a special event where an NPC stumbled into the front room and collapsed! Fortunately Wheatley was able to get her into emergency surgery and save her. :D So that was cool. Fully expecting him to earn another promotion the next time he heads into work, now that I've cracked the code for efficient doctoring!
-->Watched a trio of Plumbella videos:
A) The history of universities throughout The Sims series -- gave me some nostalgic feels for Sims 2's universities and their early 2000s vibe, but made me kind of glad I missed out on the Sims 3 version (only one university to attend, and active classes that sound super repetitive)
B) A dorm rebuild she did in Foxbury where she made it look more like the English dorms she's used to -- single bed in every room, en-suite bathrooms, and -- well, she put in kitchens, but since stoves are forbidden items in dorms, I think those are gonna have to go. It was a nice rebuild, though! :) I like seeing everyone improve on Maxis's stuff.
C) A trip back to Sims 2 university! Jessie made a new Simself (a cheerleader with super-spiky hair) and went to La Fiesta Tech. She didn't play through the whole experience, but she met some professors, attended some classes, bought some electronics, cheated her way into the Secret Society (as she was way too impatient to actually wait for the actual invitation XD) and finally joined a Greek Sorority to end out the episode. XD A lot of fun, but DAMN does the game run janky on her computer. Stuttering all the time, every time!
-->And then I finished off with a LilSimsie video where she endeavored to renovate one of the Britechester builds -- with a twist; she had to make sure the house was worth roughly the same at the end, and every time she deleted something, she had to replace it so the house always had the same number of objects (as apparently the development team has an "object restriction" they have to abide by when making houses). She -- well, she made the house look a LITTLE better, but it was ROUGH GOING. I think she gained a new appreciation for some of the limits the Gurus (or whoever actually builds the houses) have to deal with!
And now I'm finishing up my Valice Multiverse queue -- oh! Something I noticed about the tumblr queuing issue -- it wasn't happening on BOTH my accounts. The queue for The Valice Multiverse was firing along no problem at the correct times. So I reset my Victor Luvs Alice queue to three the other night to test, and the two posts I had it in posted at the correct times (well, okay, the second one was a MINUTE off, but I won't hold that against it). My next test is to queue up two days' worth of posts at my usual two per day, and see if and when they fire. I'm really hoping that fiddling with the number of posts being queued fixed the mess, because having to set up my queue fresh each evening is a little tiresome, at least on that account. *sigh* Fingers crossed, everyone!
Anyway -- finished up Valice Multiverse, did comments in inbox, even got a head start on getting Newcrest Adventures pictures sorted, so I'm pretty much good to go, yay. Full week of work ahead, sigh. . .but maybe our interim director guy will be nice again and let us go a little early on Friday once more. We'll see. In the meantime, night all!
