Well That Was A Bad Friday
Apr. 3rd, 2020 11:01 pm-->Slept in a tiny bit later than expected -- the smallest thing on this list, but now it kind of feels like a small omen I should have paid more attention to.
-->Also the weather has been absolutely miserable all day, with rain and lots of wind, which did not help matters at all.
-->Parents made a grocery run (Dad must have talked Mom into going, as she was talking about going NEXT week last night), which meant post-breakfast for me was chaos with trying to get all the groceries in and wiped off while my parents went back and forth washing their hands, taking showers, and washing all the produce. Just -- bad chaotic energy. :(
-->Also had a lot more comments from a reader binge-reading "Scenes From Secundus" this morning to answer again -- this wouldn't be such a bad thing if AO3 would a) put the reply box over the comment I'm replying to if I'm in my inbox, instead of always popping it at the top of the page and forcing me to drag it down, or b) when I click on the name of the story the comment has been posted to (maybe to refresh my memory of a certain story detail mentioned in the comment), take me to the chapter the comment was posted to, instead of always to the first chapter and making me hunt down the right one itself. It can TELL me which chapter the comment was posted to, so why -- ugh. Also, 26 comments to wade through in a morning is hard work, no matter how nice feedback is.
-->On the work side of things, working on cleaning up a deceased person's giving, which requires me to wait for our vendors to get their (remotely working) acts together, which is always fun.
-->And then we had our virtual meeting, which turned into a bit of a technological clusterfuck -- I TRIED to get the software to accept my computer speakers and mic for audio, but it didn't look like it had worked when I first started the meeting, so I dialed in on my phone -- only for the computer audio to suddenly come on and force me to mute my entire computer. *grumbles* THEN there was such a severe lag in the video that we had to go over some stuff twice because our presenter thought she was showing us all the new stuff, but all we saw was a log-in screen. We eventually got it to work, and some of the items she showed us are things we genuinely wanted, but damn.
-->And then after THAT I had to get my unemployment filed (since I'm a furloughed employee and that's what the memo sent out to us said to do if you weren't using your PTO), but I ran into some confusion with some of the questions because the memo didn't really make it clear what you were supposed to say for "last day" and "severance pay." I eventually got it all filled out and submitted it, but I was so stressed out about having potentially filled it out wrong that I actually ended up crying for a little while. The lady at Fiscal that we're meant to contact to explain what we're doing told me she'd fix anything that needed fixing, but -- *sigh* I blame this one entirely on the fact that I really feel like I'm PMSing.
-->All of that took so long that -- yeah, no video games at ALL today again. At least this time I was able to get in a workout.
-->Confirmed over dinner that one of the episodes we watched from Season 15 of "Mock the Week" was actually from Season 16 -- and I can't find the missing episode of Season 15, which annoys me. Again, minor thing, but when combined with stress and PMS. . .
-->Started "An Introductory Guide To Magic," the new FVV project that'll be turning my previously-posted-on-my-website magic system into a story in the style of an in-universe booklet on magic. It's -- coming. I feel like I'm trying too hard right now to do something amusing, but maybe that's just the PMS and my own grumpy mood talking. The important thing right now is words on screen. At least I found my original document, so I can just adapt everything from that!
-->Watched five YouTube videos, despite YouTube and my internet connection's best efforts in sabotaging me (at least I've discovered that rewinding the video a little bit generally restarts the buffer bar or whatever you call it):
A) OXBox: 7 awkward "Special Edition" items (ever wanted a figurine of naked pregnant Alma from F.3.A.R.? Complete with glowing belly? How about a picture made with Lord British's blood?)
B) OXBox: 7 Ways Resident Evil 3's REmake is even better than Resident Evil 2's REmake (mostly an excuse for Andy to gush about his new favorite character, Carlos, and go on about how badass Jill Valentine is)
C) OXtra: 7 abandoned Nintendo series that need to be revived on Switch (Luke gets VERY ANGRY about not having Golden Sun, Earthbound, and Nintendogs on the new platform)
D) OXBox: 7 games where you can die if you put in the effort (like refusing to wear a helmet in the vacuum of space in Super Paper Mario, or take too long solving your father's murder and get gut-punched by the killer in Shenmue)
E) Fun With Shorts: "When You Grow Up" (an aggressively 70s short about working and how to choose the right job for you -- as Josh said, "Capitalism is a prison and we're all serving time!")
-->And now I'm fighting minor connection glitches as I finish up my Valice Multiverse queue (such as it is) and clean up the last of my messages. *deeeep sigh* And tomorrow's a cleaning Saturday, so that's fun!
Yeah, yeah, I know -- as I have been saying throughout this whole thing, I strongly suspect the reason I am so grouchy about all of this is because it's coming up on that time of the month and stress just pushes my hormones into overdrive. *rubs face* Just glad it's the weekend so I don't have to worry about checking anything for work for the next couple of days. . .
Right. Gonna finish up what I was doing in that last arrow (if my internet connection will stop trying to fuck me over), then we'll see where the rest of the night takes me. Tomorrow -- room clean; "Vein Pursuit;" Bloodlines with a view to making it to Ming-Xiao and using my flamethrower on her. I think that is a reasonable to-do list. Night all.
