crossover_chick: gif with Doc and Marty trying to get out of being written into twisted AUs (Default)
I say mostly because there was one bad experience -- I, in a fit of idiocy, agreed to go out with my parents when they said they were going out for a drive. They've gone for drives before, and I've always thought I ought to join them on one. . . The idea was that we would just drive around in a big circle, taking in some of the scenery. Mom said they never even stopped and got out of the truck -- it was just a way to get out of the house.

The reality was having to go get gas first thing, which turned into a nightmare when the pump malfunctioned roughly nine dollars into a twenty-dollar fill-up and the people inside the station apparently wouldn't do anything about it (I never left the truck, only my parents) -- Dad eventually got his money back, and the start of the drive was all justified complaints about the shitty gas station. And then the REST of the drive was a long and winding meander through the side roads with Mom pointing out some random things and me realizing that a) I actually really DON'T like long drives that don't have any destination; b) I also don't particularly like The Rolling Stones (which is what I'm pretty sure was playing throughout the whole thing). Also there was a random stop at an antique place my parents have gone to in the past, but nobody got out of the truck there (they were just looking at what was displayed in the yard), so. . . *deep sigh* I spent most of it thinking I should have stayed at home and watched YouTube videos, instead of feeling trapped in the truck and angry over the stupid gas station situation. Waste of an hour. . .live and learn, I suppose. And what I've learned is "never again." I'm a fucking homebody and happy to be that way!

Anyway! Apart from that, I don't have much to complain about regarding my Saturday:

-->Slept in til 10:30 (I did go to sleep after 2 AM, so -- I obviously needed it), then had another nice smoothie for breakfast, with lots of reading of TV Tropes

-->Played some Sims 4 -- had a pretty quiet day with Emmett, Nikal, and new baby Julia. Emmett is NOT pregnant, hooray. *whew!* He is, however, more magically adept, having spent most of the day out in the Magic Realm, learning his first mischief spell! Nikal also experimented her way to a new potion, and they got a gift of a cheese pizza from Geoffrey Landgraab for reasons. XD I'm pretty sure that's a thing that has come with Eco Lifestyle -- hey, I'm perfectly fine with my Sims getting free stuff! Bring it! XD

-->Posted Chapter 10 of "Secundus 2: Weird Weird West!" Barkis, Buford, and Gordon have made their move -- and while Alice proved a little too much for Gordon, poor Jennifer and Clara have been successfully kidnapped! And with our villains having hijacked the 8 o'clock to San Francisco -- well, time for an epic train chase to begin, w000~ Looking forward to getting to those bits in Chapter 11. :D

-->Today in YouTube – no Atop The Fourth Wall, because again I overestimated the amount of time I felt I had to watch videos this evening, and of course I went on that stupid ride this afternoon. . . I am watching that three-parter tomorrow if it kills me. (And then being relieved he should be going back to more normal-sized episodes this week.) But I did at least clear out a lot of stuff from the old Watch Later and Subscriptions:

A) One of those cute little animations of a CallMeKevin video – this one using audio from an old video of his I haven't seen, where he berated and apparently killed a minion in a video game for not making a table for fast enough. XD Hey, even if I don't know exactly what they're talking about, still funny!

B) Then it was over to Fun With Shorts for the little "sneak peek" video he posted of the new riff he's got up for Patreons – Manhunt of Mystery Island! It's a serial from 1945 about tracking down the inventor of a new energy source (powered by radium, because NUCLEAR!). We got the first five minutes as a preview, and it looks like fun – I'm sure the Patreons are gonna love it. XD

C) Then a pop over to LGR for his review of Nifty Knitting – he is not impressed, though he confessed to some amusement over the Metal station being part of the pack. (Also, Heavy Metal Knitting is a thing in Finland – who knew? Besides Finnish people.) But yeah, he found the whole thing ultimately kind of forgettable, which – I will PROBABLY get the pack at some point in the future, but I feel like it's gonna be one of those where I wait for someone to get me a generic gift card I can use, or I wait for it to go on sale. Worked for me for Eco Lifestyle, knocked ten bucks off that!

D) Then over to the Red Plumbob for a series-wide look at firefighters in the Sims franchise! Now that we HAVE them in Sims 4, anyway. . . I like these little comparison videos for seeing how things have changed (or reverted) over the franchise. Kind of miss the days when fire fighters were properly interactive, honestly. . .and while the Sims 3 career looks like it's as boring as other active careers, going on missions to put out fires and save Sims from earthquakes looks genuinely fun. This is why I think most careers should be rabbithole/work from home, with you only following the Sim to work for special events. Helps keep the tedium out of it!

E) And then it was over to Plumbella for another build challenge – a house, but each room is a different time period! The outside was the 1500s (very cute); the main living space was the 1800s (old-fashioned semi-posh Victorian, my jam); the kitchen was the 2020s (standard modernish kitchen that had dog shits all over the place, because 2020); the master bedroom was the 1990s (she went grunge, so it looked very Kurt Cobain XD); the second bedroom was the 1960s (she tried to give it a haunted vibe, but it actually turned out pretty cute); and the bathroom was the 1970s (a green carpeted horror XD). It looked like a blast to make, and it was definitely fun to watch!

F) And then – time for more actual Call Me Kevin Content! We had:

1. Hitman Blood Money – it's another "let's kill everyone on the map" challenge, only this time in one of the classic Hitman titles! I am here for it. :) I am especially here for it when it involves NPCs walking like poorly-made animatronics and people phasing through doors to react to bodies with dull surprise. XD Oh, and killer clowns. Gotta have your killer clowns. XD Kevin's voice was REALLY desynced with the clips of his face this time, though. O.o Not sure what happened, but it was very disconcerting whenever he was actually on camera.

2. Such Art: Genious Painter Simulator – yes, the typo is in the actual name of the game, so. . . The name of the game is that you are a painter, in an art studio (in – space, for some reason) and you take commissions from virtual clients. Kevin, of course, was much more interested in doing things like rolling paint all over the floors and walls, trying out the water gun that was repurposed for painting, and trying to recreate his infamous Jim Pickens painting (which was already a recreation of someone else's much better Jim Pickens painting). All a lot of fun, even if he ended up stranded in space by the end because all the doors were painted on. XD

-->And now I'm currently on tumblr, doing the RP thing on Valice Multiverse and doing my best to keep up with convos on both that and Victor Luvs Alice. Was looking pretty chaotic for a moment, but it seems to have calmed down slightly now. . .still, looking like a busy night. Whew!

Okay, time to get back to that, along with answering the stuff I have on here. . . Tomorrow is Heroes in Crisis for SURE, along with more Fallout 4 and working on "Secundus 2" Chapter 11. I think I can get all that done before I have to go back to the work grind. At least I have another long weekend to look forward to once this one is over. . . Night all!
