Periodically Frustrating Wednesday
Feb. 24th, 2021 11:26 pmJust -- the day wasn't REALLY bad, it was a lot of answering quick questions on the phone and doing roster maintenance, and I got a VERY nice and quiet lunch break, but there were a number of small frustrating moments that felt a lot worse because I'm on my period and thus naturally super-grouchy like 99% of the time. *squeezes the bridge of her nose* Most mammals don't go through this shit, you know. Evolution needs to be strangled when it comes to the human body. Give me the transhumanist future where menstrual cycles and everything related to them are a thing of the distant past.
I did make it through the day, however, and I managed to get most of my to-do list done:
1. Get in a workout: No check today – a combination of Dad apparently getting down there later than usual (and thus still working out when I would normally head down), along with me being on the first full day of the red curse, meant I never made it onto the bike. Grills’s adventures in Far Harbor will have to wait another day!
2. Work some more on “In A World Of His Own”: Check! Started Chapter 3, set in The Magic Tower! The action starts early in this one, with Victor and Alice encountering a new enemy – the Booksnap! Flying books that bite and blast with blinding beams of light. Fortunately they’re not THAT hard to kill, but it’s gonna take another page to take them ALL out. Sorry, guys – I have to have a COUPLE of fight scenes in this story!
3. Keep up on YouTube Subscriptions: Check, despite a kind of late start (new Taskmaster upload, yay~). Keeping on keeping on!
A) Started with a new upload from James Turner – an elevated Tiny House build in Sims 4! As in, it is on metal beam stilts! James went through a couple of different design choices before settling on a standard box on metal beams, and then went for a sort of “reclaimed industrial” vibe with dull gray shipping container walls spiced up with greenery and colorful furnishings. Managed to fit two bedrooms on the second floor (though making sure the Sim had enough room to get into both beds was a bit of a trick – but he DID somehow successfully squeeze a desk with laptop into the smaller one!), and a rather large bathroom on the first, with combined living room and kitchen inside, and a table outside on the little balcony. It turned out to be a pretty neat build – he’s got a talent for making weird stuff look really cool. :)
B) Call Me Kevin was also in Sims 4, continuing to ruin the Paranormal Stuff Paranormal Investigator career. XD And his own Sims – Jim and Turg were constantly pissing themselves because Kevin didn’t realize the house he grabbed off the gallery had no toilet. XD Ah well, that’s what summoning Bonehilda is for. What the house DOES have is gremlins, island spirits, and random ghosties – fortunately, while the former breaks everything in the house, the latter either provide spiritual sustenance or go around cleaning things up. Jim’s basically got an undead army of maids! AND he managed to imprison another Father Winter. I approve. XD I also approve of him becoming a Paranormal Investigator – Guidry finally showed up, allowing Jim to get the license, and he got his first gig Wednesday evening – at his old house! Well, one of them. You know, the one with the Fallout-style vault beneath it. XD A lot of cheaty teleporting was necessary to get to all the spirits and give them basement-slave-knitted plant hangers, but Jim just managed to get all the spooky stuff and earn a full day’s pay! I do not expect him to buy a toilet with it at all. XD Maybe some pants for Turg though – we got QUITE the eyeful when we came back to the house. . .
C) And then it was back over to GrayStillPlays and a couple more GTA V Parkour challenges! Round one – complete this board of tightroping, sharp turns, and worryingly steep ramps (occasionally with boosts) in a clown van. Gray struggled with some of the corners, and ESPECIALLY with a few of the ramps at the end, but he and Fiddler the Clown (YES) made it to the end with only minor damage to the paint and suspension. XD Round two – a “choose your own death” challenge in a smart car where if you didn’t choose the right path, you either just flew off the side of the board or got trapped for all eternity in a tube. Gray made a number of wrong choices – and managed to kill himself on a number of the right ones too, due to overenthusiastic yeeting. XD But on the other hand, his wall ride transfer instincts actually kicked in while going up one ramp, making him jump to the side as he reached the end – and saving him from smashing into the explosive canister at the end! He was quite proud of that one. XD Good work as always, Gray!
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check – did a quick progress report update on “In A World Of His Own” for Friday, and “I’ll Be” by Edwin McCain for my Song Saturday (since listening to it again recently made me think of it as “Fallout of Darkness”-style Valicey). Good through the weekend now, so I’m set on Victor Luvs Alice! :)
So that's not too bad. Even managed to keep up with tumblr messages a bit. . .and with me having already answered my DW comment, I'm free to head to bed. Two more days. . .hopefully my mood will just generally be a little better tomorrow. *deep sigh* Night all.
