Gorgeous Weather Saturday
Apr. 10th, 2021 11:24 pmI mean, seriously, it was sunny for most of the day (got pretty cloudy in the afternoon for a bit, but never "threatening rain" cloudy), mid-70s, not a lot of wind. . . I had my windows open for most of the day, and even now one's cracked to let in a bit of air. Weird that tomorrow's supposed to be high 50s and rainy. . .ah well, New England weather for you. Gotta enjoy the good days while they're here!
Gotta also enjoy making good progress on my to-do list:
1. Clean my room, as per the fortnight rule: Check – got started around 11:20 AM, got done around 2:15 PM! And that was with a lunch break – there wasn’t a lot of dusting to do, which I was grateful for. Also got my sheets washed and dried – well, mostly. When I took them out of the dryer, I was baffled to find my pillowcases weren’t with them. Took a few minutes’ searching, but eventually I discovered that, when I set my sheets down atop the dryer to go in the washing machine after Mom and Dad's sheets and towels finished washing, the pillowcases had apparently slid over the edge and landed on the floor. So those are in the hamper for a later wash. Not a big deal, it’s not like I need them right away, but sheesh! I was completely baffled as to where they’d gone for a minute. . .
2. Keep up on YouTube Subs and watch that Hitman 3: Seven Deadly Sins video in the Watch Later: Check! And actually got in quite a few “bonus videos” too, yay –
A) Actually started with a bit of “kinetic typography” illustrating (so to speak) one of John Mulaney’s bits, namely his annoyance over being asked for an alumnus gift from his college after he gave them $120,000 for an English major. XD Good stuff, and I finally know where that one screenshot of him saying “and then I didn’t” comes from! Literally the last line in this bit!
B) Then, after Simming, moved onto a quick video from Carl’s Sims Guides regarding the Bust the Dust kit – which is apparently STILL broken! AKA, you can still get absurdly rich from having a dirty house (money just randomly appears on the hour?), and from having dust bunnies look for valuables (they’re still pulling the Selvadorada treasures!). Not to mention, Carl showed how it’s not even properly integrated with what’s already in the game – apparently a floor is clean so long as it isn’t dusty, meaning it can be covered in pee, paint, and chocolate syrup, and Sims will still be strutting around with a +2 Inspired moodlet. *shakehead* The dust bunnies are genuinely cute, but I don’t think it’s for me.
C) This evening, we started with Jon’s Hitman 3: Seven Deadly Sins DLC playthrough, featuring the first of seven episodic escalations – Greed! The beginning makes the “story” aspect seem rather psychological, like this is a nightmare 47 is having about the days when he genuinely just killed for money, instead of more noble reasons. The actual gameplay is – you have an initial target. This target drops coins when you kill them (or, as Jon found, knock them unconscious). You may keep the coins, and stack them up between levels of the escalation. You may also feed a golden frog statue a certain number of coins each level to get an item that will assist you with your assassinations, as more targets are revealed as you kill the previous ones, and most of them have specific ways they need to be killed. They too drop coins to collect. At any point after the first assassination, you have the option of walking away. . .but you won’t, will you? Because you want those coins. :p It’s basically a “collect all the coins”-a-thon while navigating harder and harder assassinations, as later levels in the escalation stop you from using disguises or, ultimately, being seen doing anything suspicious. Jon played through the whole thing collecting as many coins as possible and screwdrivering a lot of people to stop them noticing him (he loves that thing as much as Jane does). He enjoyed it, but said he found it a bit underwhelming, especially for paid DLC – but he also said that a) he’s probably unfairly comparing it to another campaign he loves, Patient Zero, and b) he can’t FULLY judge this because, well, first in a series of seven. So we’ll have to see how the rest of them stack up!
D) Then it was onto Call Me Kevin and Cooking Simulator Pizza!, what I assume to be new DLC for the game which puts you in a traditional-brick-oven pizza restaurant to make pizza pies! Kevin, being the amazing chef that he is, immediately forgot to put yeast in his pizza dough, then started spilling all his ingredients all over the floor by spinning and jostling his bins, threw a fancy jug out the window to shatter, and then put FIVE KG of basil on his very first pie. The game did not know what to do with this, and literally started LAGGING OUT whenever Kevin dared look at his monstrous creation. XD It actually full-on FROZE for a little bit. Kevin SOMEHOW managed to get it out into the dining area, but it was slow going! He lightened up on the basil abuse after that, using it mainly to make smiley faces and write “help” on barely-cooked pizza dough discs. XD We don’t need basil physics where we’re going! XD
E) Oh, and speaking of not needing physics. . .GrayStillPlays another GTA V stunt course! And the theme of this one? Doing things in REVERSE. Gray needed to go in reverse to get past the very first obstacle (a boosted jump between roadways into some floating slow-down sticks midway between them), and then had to repeatedly find ways to flip himself around to do various wall rides and tube rides both forwards and backwards. Not to mention all the surprise gaps between pieces, surprise obstacles to dodge, and the enormous jumps (including one near the end that required a massive leap from one rather long wall ride into another what had to be an in-game mile away). Throw in the moment where he completed a tough wall ride, only to drive into the edge of a tube just INCHES from a checkpoint, and – yeah. Gray was suffering during this one, and you could HEAR it. Poor guy – he sacrifices so much of his sanity for our amusement. . .
F) And, because I had a little time, I hunted up a mod video for Sims 4 from a random person (OshinSims) to see what was new and exciting in the mod world. Oshin showed off stuff like how the Complete Cooking Overhaul from SrslySims works (I’ve seen this before, and it really is cool – expands the number of ingredients you need for cooking, changes up the menus, lets you go shopping for groceries and even subscribe to boxed meal services), new holiday traditions for toddlers, kids, and married couples (so if you want to have a toddler playdate with reward points attached, or an official “anniversary” for your favorite Sim couple, you can do that), plus a weather app that covers all the worlds! Cool stuff, and led me down a bit of a rabbit hole checking out some of the mod pages. ^^; One of these days I will be brave enough to install a bunch of these!
3. Write some more on "Londerland Bloodlines": Check! Got that done right before supper – Alice has come down from her Hysterical murder high and is a little horrified at what she did. Not a LOT horrified, because Sabbat assholes trying to kill her, but – yeah. She’s definitely taking Jack’s suggestions to a) learn how to Dement people on PURPOSE and b) never go hungry and thus frenzy to heart. Moving on to the final bits of the tutorial now – namely the shooting gallery and taking care of the last couple of gangbangers. Getting close to finally finishing Chapter One, yaaaay~
4. Play Sims 4 and finish out the McFlys’ week in Newcrest Adventures: Check! The family returned home from their vacation to another super-rainy day in Newcrest, which was spent mainly just hanging around. The kids were at school most of the day, so Marty and Jennifer caught up on chores (namely the laundry) and did some creative stuff. Marty unfortunately did NOT get promoted at work, but he did manage to finish off his Musical Genius aspiration by mentoring Jennifer at the keyboard. And Jennifer managed to upgrade a bunch of stuff around the house, including the entire downstairs bathroom so everything will break less often. *nods* A quiet but good end to my week with them!
5. OPTIONAL -- bake my muffins (can be moved to Sunday depending on time/my mood): Yeah, no check today – between everything else, I decided to move this one to Sunday. Without the room clean, I’ll have a little more time for it.
Additionally:
-->Naturally, with it being so lovely out (even with the growing clouds), we played five rounds of the beanbag toss game. Dad won the first and last ones, but I managed to take the middle three! The second one was pretty close (we kept tying with each other), but I got an eight when I just needed it. And the third and fourth games were just pretty solid. :D Poor Mom, though – she only came second once, and dead last all the other times. Ouch. Well, hopefully she’ll do better next time!
-->Got both of the FF.net PMs in my inbox sorted, yay! Slowly but surely getting better about answering these in decent time. :)
So yeah, even with the missing pillowcases and moving the muffin-baking to tomorrow, it's been a nice, productive day. :) Always good to have a Saturday like that. Hopefully my Sunday will be similar. . .let's see what needs to get done:
1. Continue editing the "Alternate Ending to Triskaidekaphobia" HypnoSnippets
2. Keep up on YouTube Subs and watch Jon's latest Fallout 4 YOLO episode
3. Play Alice: Madness Returns and see about getting through more of Queensland
4. Get in a workout
5. Bake my muffins (no longer optional, I need breakfast for next week!)
*nods* Seems reasonable, especially since I have nothing in the Watch Later at the moment and thus a little less to distract me tomorrow. :p As it stands, I should go answer my DW comment and check on Valice Multiverse (just two asks so far). Night all!
