crossover_chick: Doc in goggles and holding a big old plug with the words "feeling sparky..." (BTTF: feeling sparky/creative)
There is a load of frozen snow outside, and while tomorrow is supposed to get into the 40s, a steady high wind will keep it from feeling that way. *sigh* February, I'm glad you're on your way out, even if the bad weather days get me extra time off.

That being said, I still had a pretty good Saturday:

1. Clean my room and do the monthly laundry: Check – as per usual, the dust situation in my room wasn’t particularly bad – started around 10:30ish, ended at 1 PM, shortly before lunch! Laundry was started around 11:40 AM and – over the course of two loads – finished up around 4 PM. So that’s all set for February, yay!

2. Keep up with YouTube Subs and clean out the Watch Later: Check to the max – all Subs, all WL, and a couple of bonus videos on top of that – go me!

A) Started with a Red Plumbob video uploaded today – a comparison across the series of slow dancing! Since they brought it back recently in Sims 4 with My Wedding Stories. (Unless you have mods, of course. . .) As seems to be usual, Sims 2 did it the best, with fun animations and the ability to kiss while still dancing – Sims 4 makes the Sims pause to make out. Though I will allow that Sims 4 has some nice dramatic animations for stuff like dips and whatnot. Not good enough for me to consider getting the pack, though.

B) Then the latest Plumbella video – “My Wedding Stories but if it breaks, I quit the game (Post Release Version)!” Yup, she’s doing it again – a video where, if My Wedding Stories refuses to cooperate, she ends the video. She booted up the game, loaded into the world, had her two Sims take a moment to ask their friends to take on the special roles (flower pal, ring bearer, all that), planned the wedding with all activities, went to the pre-made venue, made sure there was only ONE arch to get married at (the standard venue has two and apparently that causes problems), got the guests to successfully throw some rice and one Sim to make a toast, then told them all to gather at the aisle –

Nope! She waited three minutes real-time to get them over there, then – in the spirit of forgiveness – tried to get her flower pal to go down the aisle. He did, only to glitch out before completing the walk, and nobody else would go. Game shut down, video ended at one minute and 42 seconds. This is SHORTER than the “Early Access” version, where the wedding event WOULDN’T EVEN START. The fuck is this pack’s DEAL.

C) Then it was over to the Subs for James Turner and his own video on My Wedding Stories – “How broken are The Sims 4 Weddings?” This the comparison between the vanilla MWS wedding and the Carl’s Modded version he was talking about when he was building his Batuu wedding venue. He set up his self Sim and Deli’s self Sim in Tartosa as an engaged couple; cheated them some friends so they could have a Sim of Honor (Judith Ward), flower pal (Eliza Pancakes), ringbearer (Johnny Zest), and officiant (KATRINA! Caliente); set the wedding event up for noon the next day, specifying guests come in “polished” attire – in orange, if possible, to match the groom’s flight suit (yes, he and Deli were in full Batuu costume XD); went the next morning to the town square to purchase a cake and then set it as the wedding cake from his inventory; then finally headed over to the temple to get married! Twice! Here’s how it went:

Unmodded Take – Well, first off, a bunch of the guests/special Sims spawned in a weird spot and had to run to the venue, meaning they arrived super late. Nobody showed up in “polished” attire – not even the bride and groom were in their proper clothes! There were also a bunch of random paparazzi and fans around, though that was more of a “Judith” problem – she’s a Get Famous celebrity, sooo. . . James changed the bride and groom into their proper attire, and got everyone to take their seats via clicking the interaction a bunch of times. . .but then couldn’t get anyone to STAND UP and actually do their jobs (namely, Eliza wouldn’t go down the aisle as the flower pal, and Katrina wouldn’t officiate – Deli and James waited, but eventually did it themselves, complete with broken kiss). Nor could he get them to come downstairs to witness the (INCREDIBLY BRIEF) first dance, or the toasts. And the cake was nowhere to be found, except as invisible spoiled food in James’s inventory. Ugh. Surely the modded version had to be better, right?

Modded Take – . . .somewhat. The dress code was still ignored, the paparazzi were still a problem, some people spawned in far away and late – but this time, James WAS able to send more than his own bride and groom down the aisle, as Judith Ward consented to walk down as the Sim of Honor. But then her paparazzi got in the way of James and Deil as THEY walked down, and Katrina was still more interested in her phone than officiating. The guests DID get up and head down for toasts, though bathroom needs meant that a few of them kept trying to bail, but James was able to give a toast, and Judith STARTED to give a toast but then glitched out. The first dance lasted longer and was watched by a couple of guests, but by that time everyone was doing their own thing again for the most part. And still no cake. Hmm. So it was at least SOMEWHAT more successful than the vanilla, but still a buggy mess. Damn. Though, on the plus side, Carl himself watched the video, wondered what the hell was going on, and located a huge bug that seems to be the major cause behind none of these things working right (namely, guests get stuck in “arrival” mode, which is why they don’t usually properly respond to being told to gather places for activities. . .), so he’s working on fixing THAT now too. *sigh* Bottom line, pack is totally broken, don’t buy, always use Carl’s mod if you must buy because that at least makes the event SOMEWHAT playable.

D) Then a video popped up in my Recommendeds from Simmer Erin that intrigued me – one on the “real reason” My Wedding Stories is such a mess. Short answer? TINY Quality Assurance team. Someone looked at the names in the credits and did the math, and the QA team was only 6% of the total number of employees (138). Art department, by contrast, got 30%. Simmer took a look at the Parenthood credits for comparison – 219 people, art department a little smaller, but QA team twenty percent BIGGER. So less people worked on this latest pack, and WAY less Quality Assurance people got to take a look at it. Erin feels like this is indicative of the people at the top pushing for a focus on how pretty everything is (nobody’s yet had a bad thing to say about how Tartosa looks) over how functional it is, and – well, it feels accurate. *sigh* Damn it, Sims 4. . .

E) After supper, we moved onto the final video in my Watch Later – the latest AT4W, “Youngblood: Strikefile #3!” The conclusion of Chapel going up against his old boss Wynn, and Die Hard trying to save what’s left of his old friend Super Patriot from a cartoonishly-evil corporation. The Die Hard stuff is really simple and bland – Die Hard’s “Captain America” shield knocks Super Patriot off-kilter before he can drop a rock on him, and Die Hard punches him out, escapes the corporation, and muses on his own fragile state of being as his employers supposedly work to help Super Patriot recover. The CHAPEL stuff is – well. The characters in this one claim that AIDS was engineered by the US government as “population control.” Linkara was rightfully furious at the stupid conspiracy theory shit and – yeah. He loathes this comic with all his heart, and he’s going to Classic Who next week for a palate cleanser. Don’t blame him.

F) Then it was back over to the Subs for my own palate cleanser – Call Me Kevin and more GTA V mods! This time it was a mod that changed the bullets fired by all ballistic weapons – from guns to tanks – into something random, changing periodically. Resulting in situations like Michael filling a jewelry store with super cars, which proceeded to block all the display cases and explode periodically; Franklin failing on raiding an army base because he kept shooting more army men (as in, his bullets were new soldiers to attack him); Trevor and Michael using miniguns that shot strippers and dogs against the police before needing to fight their way through more cars, and Franklin picking them up in an earth mover while escaping a tank firing boats; Franklin trying to escape a building while spawning businesswomen, zombies, and muscle men in his wake (and then dying because he kept getting caught under stuff – including MORE CARS); and finally Trevor riding a train while shooting more army men and little trailers at the pursuing police helicopters. Can you imagine this thing paired with the more classic Chaos Mod? I’m sure Kevin can, and he is already hiding under his blankets in terror. XD

G) And finally, we had GrayStillPlays and more Papers Grade Please!, a shitty mobile game about being a teacher that appeared once before on his channel, but now there are new questions and answers, so here we go again! Gray was scrupulously fair in his grading – if the answer made him laugh, he usually gave it an A+. Like the kid who, when asked what he’d look like in 100 years, drew a tombstone. Or the kid who described their school (with broken windows and no real floor) as “trash.” Or the kid who, when asked to name an example each of a solid, a liquid, and a gas, just wrote “poop” three times. (Technically a fart is not a poop, it can just happen at the same TIME as a poop, kid.) It got to the point where Gray was genuinely stunned whenever he saw an actual right answer. And often gave them Fs just because. XD He also took a moment to upgrade “Hyper High School” (where all this was happening) from a dilapidated wreck to an only PARTIALLY dilapidated wreck. And put a plant in his classroom. Because all classrooms need plants. XD Good times, as always.

3. Play Sims 4 -- either more Smiler Always or some building: Check, even after spending a good hour or two watching videos ragging on the latest pack. XD After making a minor update to MC Command Center and thinking it over, I decided to keep my mods and custom content in and head over to Smiler (especially after seeing the save trying to claim I’d played “McTest” last – I haven’t touched the Chill Save version of Geeker in ages! O.o). They had a very busy Thursday indeed – I went ahead and scheduled a dance party for them at the Discotheque Pan Europa in Windenburg with Victor, Alice, Nalani, Lilith Pleasant, Lilith Vatore, and Tristen at 6 PM, then had them head over to the new Plumbella’s Pub for socialization and vampire power practice. There they met Angela Pleasant, Lilith’s sister, and ended up becoming friends with her over Foosball! :) They also detected a few personalities and drank the blood of the unlucky Ren (who was just trying to catch a glimpse of a celebrity lurking somewhere on the lot). I had them head back home to practice their Charisma, and then Angela showed up for further hanging out. They chatted, watched the movie “College Cram” together, and Smiler practiced their mesmerizing on her. XD When she left, they leveled up again in vampire lore skill (so now they can just buy plasma fruit! . . .for $300, so yeah, no, I think I’ll just send them back to Forgotten Hollow), took a shower, and did a little “practice dancing” at home. And then it was off to the dance party! Ready to rock the night away!

The DJ quit after one set! *shakehead* Ah well, another one eventually came in, and Smiler and company got in plenty of dancing and socialization. Alice was pretty tense at first, given she’s not really a party person, but Smiler brought her around, and they were good friends by the end of the party! They’re also friends with Victor now, which is good. . .and after discovering that all their attractiveness preferences had been reset (I assume because I had to take the mod out when I updated my game, and I checked it without mods briefly first – though without going into the save), I ended up redoing them and now Smiler thinks Victor and Alice are hot. :D But then again, Smiler thinks freaking EVERYBODY is hot, as I deliberately kept some of their preferences wide. I think it’s safe to say Smiler is pan, everybody. XD But yeah, good dance party, and Smiler even got some training from Lilith Vatore before heading home. :) Next time – it’s Love Day! Meaning I’m going to go back and check on my OTP to update THEIR attractiveness preferences if necessary and make sure they’re still marked as poly before considering a date for Smiler. . .

4. Write some more on "Learn To Love Again": Check – Alice has caught up some more with her family, whom she’s glad to hear are doing pretty well for themselves in the afterlife. She’s also confirmed that she’s pretty sure her coworker June is Bonejangles’s sister. . .and gotten some funny stomach flutters from Lizzie referring to Victor as “her Victor.” Hehehehe~

5. Get in a workout (if possible): No check again – this time it was Sims 4 that ran over, unsurprisingly. Ah well, I wasn’t really expecting to get to this one. We’ll reset tomorrow!

Yeah, today was definitely "YouTube and Sims" day -- not complaining, though! It's nice to have everything in the WL watched. :) And now I get to set up the to-dos for tomorrow:

1. Keep up with the FO4 Playthrough Progression

2. Keep up with YouTube Subs and Jon's F:NV "Utter Chaos" video

3. Play Fallout 4 and figure out how to get into the Weston Water Plant

4. Work on tumblr drafts

5. Get in a workout

AKA your typical Sunday stuff, really. Shouldn't be too hard to handle! But for now I have chats and whatnot to keep up on, so I shall be off. Night all!
