Busy Monday Back
Feb. 28th, 2022 11:26 pmAs I believe will be evidenced by my "work" section here:
Work – Oof, busy day back. Mostly because there were a lot of phone calls, many of them credit card related. Plus I had some other stuff I had to catch up on, and the GL, and a gift to post that I had to ask some questions about, and – yeah. Just a lot to keep track of, not helped by the fact that I KNOW I’m starting to PMS, meaning I now have to be on the lookout for the red curse. Meeeh – hopefully the rest of the week isn’t too bad!
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – another night on the bike, and almost done with the OxSong Livestream! It was a thousand pounds to get everyone to try Egbert’s terrible porky spicy fireball drink. XD Everyone did indeed sample it, and everyone had basically the same “oh my FUCKING God” reaction. XD Wonderful and terrible all in one horrific sip. (Also, fun fact – both Luke and Johnny are apparently pescetarians, meaning they are almost vegetarians but they still eat fish and other seafood.) The next one was Merilwen-themed and was essentially a fruit-and-veg smoothie, garnished with fucking onions. The bidding war between this one ended up in a curious draw between Andy and Jane – Jane mentioned having a cold, and the last person to sneak in a donation told her to get well soon in a way that sounded like a nomination as it matched the bid for Andy, so they both decided to drink. Andy ended up chewing it thanks to the onions, but Jane who held her nose and slurped said it wasn’t actually that bad past those – it was mainly the smell that made it seem horrible. Luke tried a bit afterwards and was not convinced. XD They ended up doing the last two roughly together as they were running out of livestream time – the Prudence one that was actually good (red wine, cherryade, stirred with a cinnamon stick) and the Dob one that was – worrying (mead, Pepsi, garnished with an accidentally-soggy potato chip and with jellybeans at the bottom). After another little bidding war (getting the raised funds almost to $33,000!), Johnny got to enjoy the nice Prudence drink, while Ellen had to try the Dob drink and admitted it wasn’t that bad – everyone was disappointed. XD There’s ten minutes to go, with the gang seeing if they can break the $33K mark before ending on one more play of the music video – and the lyrics and chords so people could do their own versions! :D Which, I have already seen THAT livestream pop up in my Recommendeds, so maybe that’ll be next. XD
2. Continue editing Chapter 5 of “Londerland Bloodlines: Santa Monica’s Vale Of Tears”: Check – Alice and Bertram Tung have properly met now, and Tung’s filled Alice in on the warehouse – Sabbat property, humans there but they’re the kind of scumbags who think the Sabbat are awesome, so yeah, no guilt from blowing the place to kingdom come. I’m actually almost done with this chapter – should finish up tomorrow, in fact! So that’s nice. . .then it’s onto Chapter 6 and Alice FINALLY getting to her main objective after all this time. And THAT runs from page 191 to 210 in the doc, so I think that’ll be my quickest chapter to get through. . . Might be able to have this all posted by the very end of April, barring major disaster! :) And then it’s on to the next installment. . .
3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Technical check – the latest Wyrd Sisters Podcast is up, but as that’s 46 minutes, I’ll have to wait for either a) an "only one other Subs upload" day or b) the weekend to listen to it. But I got the other two watched, and a (shorter) bonus video besides –
A) Started with the latest from OXBox – “Tiny Tina's Wonderlands | STABBOMANCER = CORAZON? Let's Play Tiny Tina's Wonderlands (PC Gameplay)” Jane plays through a bit of the demo version of Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, the new Borderlands spin-off game set in Tina’s “Bunkers & Badasses” setting! I mainly clicked on it to see if there were any actual Alice in Wonderland references, but not that I could see. Looks fun, though – Jane played as a “stabbomancer,” the game’s equivalent of a rogue, with a view to seeing if it was like being Corazon, Andy’s pirate rogue from Oxventure. Their quest had them help Jar the goblin rally goblins to the cause of “Goblins Tired From Oppression,” or G.T.F.O. XD They mainly did this by fighting a bunch of enemies (including other goblins. . .but it was okay, because those goblins were helping the oppressors), hanging a few posters, listening to Jar make an awkward but heartfelt speech, then freeing some goblin prisoners from a beautiful lakeside (because goblins like the dank and the dreary, don’t you know). The final verdict was that the ability to go invisible and call fireballs felt appropriately Corazon-ish, even if all the gunplay wasn’t really. XD But yeah, if you like the Borderlands series, and Tiny Tina’s previous DLC, this looks like something you’d enjoy!
B) And then it was over to the Subs for Call Me Kevin and “The Beginner Elden Ring Experience!” Yes, Kevin has decided to go all-in on “soulsborne” games and is playing the latest one to come out, Elden Ring! This one is – well, it’s Dark Souls with a glowy tree, and the PCs are called “Tarnished” this time around. XD Kevin made his character “scared,” an old man with ruddy cheeks and a shit-ton of body hair, then headed out into the wider world (after getting murdered in the opening Hopeless Boss Fight, that is). His goal was to defeat a boss, and so he roamed the land, killing goats (unless they rolled away from him), random soldiers (unless he couldn’t get off a backstab), a mud crab (and then fled them on his magical horse), and a few skeletons (and then fled them by jumping up a giant wind geyser on his magical horse) – and getting killed many, MANY times in turn. But he did eventually find his way to the boss cave, and after slaughtering an absolutely GIGANTIC pack of wolves, he went up against the boss and – died. Repeatedly. Because FROM software. XD But he persevered, learned what buttons he should be pressing, and finally, FINALLY managed to kill the damn thing. :D You go, Kevin! We’re all super proud of you. :)
C) And finally we had GrayStillPlays and another GTA V waterslide from hell! This one featuring a couple of ACTUAL WATERSLIDES! At least to start, then once he got into the tube in the middle of the pool, Gary switched to an ATV that could convert to water mode and started doing some truly painful parkour. Like a spiral from hell in the middle of the sky, which led into a river where you chose the right wall to destroy or you got yeeted into space, which led to a series of deadly half-pipes high in the sky (you could hear the planes crashing!), which led to a parking garage with bonus wind turbines (smashing up not only Gray, but the NPC cars), which led to a skydive through the looping levels to the target at the bottom, which led to one last giant tetanus slide where Gray had to land in the pool to be greeted by bikini-clad women and fireworks. If physics remembered it applied to him, anyway – he had a moment where he was standing upside-down on NOTHING at one point. These games are just so tired of Gray’s antics they’re spontaneously giving him “god mode.” XD
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check – did some notes for a future post on Ug-Qualtoth in the Fallout of Darkness verse that I want to make, now that I’ve watched a video on some more of their lore (I was having trouble getting it into sentences, so notes it is for now). Still need to decide what I’m doing past Smiler’s update on Wednesday, but hopefully something will present itself!
Well, bit of a stressful day at work, and all the news in the world is not helping, but at least I had a productive evening. Hopefully that trend keeps up too. . .we'll see! Night all!
