Pretty Calming Saturday
Jul. 9th, 2022 11:28 pmEven with having to clean and all that, I felt like I had a pretty good day! At the very least, I checked off everything on the to-do list:
1. Clean my room: Check – started at 10:45 AM after my breakfast smoothie, and managed to wrap up at 1:10 PM, just before lunch! Room is nice and clean again for another couple of weeks!
2. Keep up on YouTube Subs and watch at least one AT4W episode: Check – didn’t get to Man of Steel AT4W today, just have to make it a priority tomorrow. Instead, today we had –
A) First up after beanbags, the latest “Rage To Riches” episode from James Turner! James attempted to focus a bit more on Angus and his desire to be a good werewolf diplomat in this episode, though Nina’s inability to go five minutes without starting a fight with someone (like James left her alone with Brodie briefly to check on Angus with his pack, and he came back to them in full, if glitchy, Supernatural Smackdown mode) kind of stole the show at a few points. XD He did manage to:
I. Get Angus to be friends with all his packmates, hanging out by the Moonwood Collective tree and just calling everyone over until they consented to be friends, basically. XD Though they should be grateful, since a couple of them (Wolfgang and Jacob, to be precise) were slowly starting to freeze in the snow, and it was only by virtue of Angus asking to see their cold-weather outfits that they didn’t. Sheesh!
II. Get Nina into Vlad’s house to eat a bunch of his stuff (some statues and all of his various coffins, mainly) and have a Supernatural Smackdown (which she won, w000!). This got her a new ability point, and now she has the fun Super Speed ability! Which is basically the vampire version, just on all fours. :p I really should pick the vampire version up for Smiler, but I’ve been trying so hard to build up points to max out the “Control Emotions” power. . .we’ll see!
III. Get Nina to thoroughly explore the underground tunnels – he FINALLY realized that, if you’ve gone through a couple of pop-ups and get a “find the fresh air” option, it leads to a different entrance/exit (for example, following it after having some adventures in the bunker lead to the portal potties, which he’s been trying to unlock for some time now). He admitted that he’s actually pre-recorded a bunch of these episodes due to house renovations and hoped that he hadn’t really annoyed everyone by not figuring that out earlier. XD
IV. Get Angus to be a true werewolf diplomat by going to the Humor and Hijinks Festival with Brodie to spread the word about how werewolves aren’t that bad, really! James even gave him a nice new formal outfit (from Journey to Batuu, oh James), and managed to bring both his parents (who were visiting the festival, presumably looking for a break from THEIR NEW INFANT DAUGHTER – seriously, back in Episode 1 Hazel called Angus asking if they should have a kid, which Angus left up to them – and now we have Kristina Monet as part of the family tree!) on board. . .
And then another werewolf at the festival went into rampage mode, and naturally nobody else was feeling positive toward werewolves at that point. Angus TRIED to bridge the gap with Column, but due to him getting stuck howling back to the rampaging werewolf whenever she howled, it never worked. And he couldn’t even pacify her because he didn’t know her. There was only the option to run away. Ah well.
V. Get Angus to quickly check up on Cupcake – they barked at the moon together, which was cute. :) Still no option to adopt, though – I guess we’ll have to see what happens in future episodes for that!
So yeah, pretty busy episode, with some good progress made for both Angus the Werewolf Diplomat and Nina the Ferocious Monster. XD This is so much fun to watch – I definitely gotta get Smiler to move in with Victor and Alice soon so I can start their supernatural journeys!
B) Then, after supper, it was time for Call Me Kevin and more of HIS take on Sims 4: Werewolves! SimWolf Kevin is doing amazing at life, while everyone around him suffers. XD I mean, the very first thing Kevin did was send his Simself to go EAT THE ENTIRE LIBRARY. Like, the ENTIRE library. Including the observatory outside. And then, having gotten the “Mark Territory” ability, just had him piss all over it. And then it was over to the bar to eat the rest of THAT lot (just in time for his MCCC-added son, Faze, to die from starvation, because becoming werewolf leaves you hungry, yo – Kevin just added the guy back to the family as a ghost), then over to the Volkov house to eat the rest of THEIR stuff. Because it’s the fastest way to level up. XD All that eating gave Sim!Kevin an idea for a career change, though –
Interior designer! XD This is actually something I REALLY wanted to see someone do, and Kevin did not disappoint. The guy actually got the Old Penelope lot in StrangerVille to refurbish, and he ATE THE FREAKING PLANE PIECES. Along with all the clients’ furniture. Which he replaced solely with piss. XD The client, as you might expect, was not happy and did not pay, but Sim!Kevin just gave him a chomp and went on his way – to a new career in ACTING! He got a gig doing a pharmaceuticals commercial, managed to pass the audition, then headed onto the lot and bit EVERY ONE of his coworkers, before transforming manually into his wolf form for the scene (keeping his special hair). And then he DEVOURED HIS STAGE MARKER, so he couldn’t actually complete the scene. So he bribed the director and ate the rest of the set. Bribe cost $1,000 (and was money Sim!Kevin was supposed to hold for laundering purposes – seriously, it was a pop-up and everything); Sim!Kevin earned $300. And then his coworker died from starvation. And then the rest of the set crew began transforming. And then Sim!Kevin managed to fight and beat the Grim Reaper before returning home. As I put in my comment, you KNOW The Sims 4 has gone off the rails when JIM PICKENS is the NORMAL one. XD
C) Then it was over to the Watch Later to watch my AT4W episode – “Stargate SG-1: POW #1-3!” The first Stargate SG-1 comic miniseries – and a pretty lousy one, honestly. The plot is the paper-thin “O’Neill gets captured by the Go’auld when he runs after the one possessing the kid he befriended in the movie; the team must deactivate the device they left on the Stargate, preventing it from exploding, then go rescue him; in the middle of all this there is a pointless recap of the movie and the first episode,” with no other interesting complications; and the artwork is just colors laid directly on the pencils, meaning everything looks unfinished – half the time faces are just vague blobs. It’s kinda sad, really, especially if you’re a fan of the series (as some of my old internet friends very much were). But hey, at least we got another quick-fire collection of Linkara One-Liners regarding the final issue’s cover featuring a giant General Hammond head for no reason. XD
D) And finally, back to the Subs for more GrayStillPlays versus Alex & Danny in GTA V! Today’s treat? Another “microtransactions” board, where Gray must pay money to make a custom-designed death run easier for himself. Gray being Gray, of course he tried it without giving any cash to the evil duo first. That lasted – what, maybe three minutes into the video? XD I mean, he gave it his best shot, but when faced with a twisty-turny mid-air course to run with punchy fists of doom littered all over the place (including on the very first turn and every stair), followed by a TIGHTROPE WITH GAPS also inhabited by multiple punchy fists of doom, followed by a dash across five lanes of super-magnet traffic (that is, Alex took his trademark “magnets flinging cars between each other” obstacle and turned it up to 2,000 – and said hi to Janean, poor Gray’s beleaguered accountant, in the process) – yeah, you’re gonna buy some upgrades. For the first course, that included a respawn orb that, if he got punched into it, would “checkpoint” him just before that particular fist, dropping the punch force (first by 30%, then by 40%), and removing three random fists (two were good, including a tricky one where he had to climb up, then spin around and climb up AGAIN; the third was just the one at the beginning, which he’d already figured out how to get past); second he just took slowing down the punch speed a bit and removing all the gaps so he didn’t have to jump and get launched (he was actually rather proud of himself for not getting the wider tightrope); and in the third one, after NEARLY finding a way to cheat it, he picked up a BMX bike (which almost worked, but unfortunately got launched into one of the magnet walls) and a super-run (which got him killed more often than not, but finally allowed him to just rocket along the path in one go). Delicious Gray pain, flavored with him buying probably all the BMX stuff for Danny now. XD
E) Oh, and one extra one from a quick look over on TV Tropes at the Cuphead section – “CupSouls,” the result of someone having enough of lazy journalists saying that Cuphead’s difficulty was like Dark Souls when they’re entirely different genres and thus imagining a Cuphead-animation-style take on Dark Souls and some of its iconic bosses. XD Good stuff!
3. Play Sims 4 and work through Smiler’s Winter Thursday: Check – nothing particularly exciting for Smiler today, but very productive. After quickly adding Carl’s “Double Inventory Fix” mod (apparently the latest patch broke the way the game handled items that you can put into your inventory and that also have their OWN inventories – I don’t know if Smiler has anything like that, but better safe than sorry!), I picked up with Smiler as they finished up all their homework post-Winterfest – I put away all their stuff (save the outdoor wreath), had them complete all their homework and harvest their garden, then go skating for a while at the rink by the library, where they met and insta-friended a guy named Sai. From there it was off to class, then back home again to play some more with the Karaoke machine – Smiler has officially reached level 5 of the Singing skill, and is no longer crap at it. XD
And from there – well, I wanted to have them work on their rank in the Bot Savants, so I sent them off to campus to work on their Robotics skill! Though first things first – spotting a friend outside the Commons, they said hello, chatted for a little bit, then got permission to drink, om nom nom. I’d INTENDED for them to then give Jeff a burst of the Energized emotion as a thank-you, but Smiler insisted on looking at the cafeteria menu board before releasing their power, so it was the cafeteria staff and students who got that. *shakehead* Ah well, it’s all XP. Then it was upstairs to the robotics lab, where Smiler spent some time making a computer chip and tinkering for robot salvage parts. They took a quick break around 4 PM to go give all the students in the “computer lab” area a quick burst of Focus, and learn somebody’s main personality traits before going to darkly meditate and chat with the lockers. XD And also just BUY some salvage parts using one of the computers, because they’re super-cheap and getting them through tinkering is SUPER-slow.
With that all sorted, I realized I hadn’t done anything with the Academic aspiration I was having Smiler work on, and sent them to attend an engineering guest lecture. And, handily, that lecture ended around 7 PM, allowing Smiler to head upstairs and do some more work on Robotics during an official bot building meet-up! (Not that most people were building. . .I think the robotics lab needs more actual robotics benches.) They took the day off work (they have the vacation time), then made a Black Chatterbot (when they weren’t trying to run off to play with the basketball hoop – I don’t know WHAT it is, but periodically suddenly Smiler becomes OBSESSED with it and auto-cancels all robotics stuff) and another Mechanism, getting to level 5 Robotics in the process! This also fulfilled two of their current “participation goals” in the organization, so now Smiler is a Seasoned Member, yay! A shame it only comes with the benefit of extra credit for classes they’re not taking, but hey.
And with that sorted, I decided to have them end their time on-campus with a trip to the local fishing hole and use some of their fifty-million wolfsbane flowers (okay, more like 22, but still!) to catch some fish and thus advance in the Angling Ace aspiration. They got a trout, a catfish, and a guppy – the first and last became plasma packs, but I mounted the catfish as apparently that counted as TWO great catches at once as per the aspiration. :p Plus they reached Level 6 of Fishing skill, nice. I was just about to have them head home for a shower –
When I saw Electra Bolts, one of the local Servos, broken down and stuck on the path! Well, of course Smiler had to help her! They spent some time getting her all fixed up, and once she was all repaired, they were both on their way, with me leaving Smiler having just drunk down a plasma pack to ward off the worst of their thirst. *shrug* As stated, not particularly exciting, but certainly productive! And next time should be a little more exciting, as it’s “Night On The Town” – date night, perhaps?
4. Continue writing "As Long As You Love Me": Check – Tannen has shown up, looked at the car, and gone off to get the parts to fix it, and Victor and Alice have had the “ouch” moment where Victor grabbed her arm to stop her immediately following Tannen to kill him, and Alice hit him with a glare that could melt steel, causing him to reel back in terror and her to explain that she doesn’t like being touched and she’ll break his fingers if he does that again. Meaning any progress they made relationship-wise during the previous scene has just been wiped out. *wince* But Victor has gotten her to wait until Tannen comes back at least, and see if he actually intends to fix the car. Cue the awkward waiting for the guy to come back! Oof. . .well, this actually SHOULD be the worst moment between the two, as it’s not long after this that a) Tannen proves to be a murderer himself and b) the whole thing with the motorcycle gang happens and Victor ends up fully on board with the whole “holistic assassin” thing, but still. Damn. I don’t like writing them fighting. :(
Additionally:
-->Another nice day (warm but not humid, yay), so it was out into the yard in the late afternoon to play beanbags! I had a bad first couple of rounds, managed to JUST pull it out in the third, then managed a good fourth and fifth, while Dad did decently (and palindromically), and Mom did better than she did yesterday. Final scores were me 3-3-W-2-W; Dad 2-W-3-W-2; Mom W-2-2-3-3. Hey, it’s pretty good all round!
Yeah, see, not bad at all! I'm just slightly annoyed I have to run my AC nightly because otherwise my room gets too hot. I TRY to use the fan function when it's actually cooler outside, but -- it just doesn't work very well. *sigh* Well, it is summer, I suppose. . .
All right, I'm bouncing around keeping track of social obligations, so let's get tomorrow's to-dos sorted --
1. Keep up on the FO4 Playthrough Progression
2. Keep up with YouTube Subs, watch the AT4W Man of Steel review and Jon's latest "Legendary Roulette" video
3. Play Fallout 4 and continue the settlement tour
4. Work on tumblr drafts
5. Get in a workout
All doable, I think, though the hour-and-a-half-long MoS episode could be an issue. . .maybe if I start it RIGHT after lunch. . .we'll see! Night all!
