Late Late Friday
Jun. 7th, 2024 11:58 pmIn the middle of some social stuff, but have to make sure I get in my daily update! And fortunately, I can't say it was a bad Friday --
Work – VERY quiet Friday – almost no calls from outside the office (though I had quite a few from the Fiscal office as they tried to do their end-of-month reconciling), and nothing to do except finish off the current crop of obituaries I was working on. Oh, and have my annual review, though that went well – my boss is pleased with my diligence and my customer service, so that’s all right then. Hopefully that translates to another raise this year – fingers crossed!
As for beanbags, while it was nice (if kinda muggy) MOST of the day, we had an early-afternoon rainstorm that left everything outside pretty wet, so we skipped again today. We’ll probably get back to it tomorrow if the weather holds, though. Maybe I can finally start WINNING again once we do. . .
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – last night on the bike this week, but my FIRST night with the next installment of my friend Squid’s Baldur’s Gate 3 cutscene movie staring their character Runa! After a long absence, they have edited and posted the first installment of Act Two. Got through Runa meeting Elminster the wizard, and old El telling Gale that the only way to gain goddess of magic Mystra’s forgiveness for tampering with things beyond his ken is to use the horrible orb in his chest to kill the Absolute; everyone in camp going “Mystra is a shithead for telling Gale to blow himself up to kill the Absolute;” the group entering the Shadow-Cursed Lands and helping a group of Harpers defend themselves against one of their own who was unfortunately taken; the group working their way through the Shadowlands to the only safe place, Last Light Inn; and the group meeting Jaheira, High Harper (and protagonist of at least one of the previous games), when she entangled Runa in vines on suspicion of her being a True Soul (fortunately Mol from the Emerald Grove showed up to vouch for Runa’s character, and Runa was able to show Jaheira the artifact that’s been protecting them and gain her trust). Left off with the gang catching up with the tiefling refugee Dammon, who is the guy who can help fix Karlach’s engine enough so she can touch people (if not keep it from burning out entirely, sadly). I’ll probably be watching this in drips and drabs over the coming weeks, around all the other stuff that I want to get through – should be fun to add to the line-up! :)
2. Get “Start At The Beginning...Sort Of” Chapter Two ready for posting: Check – wanted to get a head start on it today because Chapter Two is much longer than the Prologue or Chapter One, clocking in at ten pages in LibreWriter, so I uploaded it to FF.net to use their doc manager to give it a final bit of polish before it gets uploaded! Got up to Emily’s appearance in the chapter (roughly halfway through, I’d say), mainly cleaning up Victor’s nervous stutter a bit (I think I overemphasized it) and doing a bit of rephrasing and such here and there. Should be able to finish up and post this tomorrow, no problem.
3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Check – just GrayStillPlays tonight, with “Earth but every minute I add one more ring,” aka Gray plays some more Universe Sandbox 2! The premise of tonight’s video was simple – Gray slowly but surely adding more and more rings to Earth (or “Sadturn,” as it was known in this simulation) to see what would happen! His ultimate prediction was that he would eventually add enough rings to turn the Sun into a black hole and slurp everything up –
And said prediction was right, because Gray knows his planet murder. XD It took a little while to get there, though – Gray had to double and double until the rings were basically the size of the solar system, getting in the way of Mars and Venus and stretching out into cool galaxy-like shapes themselves – so we got to see the effect of rings on Sadturn before they all started getting devoured by the Sun. Turns out rings have a freezing effect the more you have of them, as they block out the light from the sun and turn everything, including Florida, Chad (in Africa), Japan, and Australia, into large frozen wastes. Things started warming up a bit again near the end, as the rings were dragged into the Sun and Sadturn was pulled closer to the star, but then the Sun just ate Sadturn along with its rings and – yeah. That was the beginning of the end for the solar system, and eventually the entire Milky Way galaxy. XD So yeah, if you ever thought it would be cool for Earth to have rings, the reality is that rings would make us all much colder and give us a higher chance of being devoured by our beloved life-giving star. GSP Science, everyone!
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: N/A on the queue front – I’m good with the Victor Luvs Alice queue for the moment, and there’s nothing happening on Valice Multiverse. I did, however, reblog a post from Polyamorous Moods (a poly tumblr I check out from time to time) that basically said “give me poly fic links and I’ll reblog them,” with a big master list of what I believe to be all my Valicer fic (more or less – two of the links are actually to the masterposts for the Polyship Week 2023 and OT3 Week 2024, since I figured that was better than linking to each individual fic). So – yeah, that’s all in one place now. Excuse me while I fight off the feeling of being a little too seen even though it’s the middle of the night. ^^;
Whew -- and now that THAT'S all over with, and my social obligations fulfilled, I'm gonna go veg for a little bit. Tomorrow is a nice, non-cleaning Saturday -- plans include working on my Chill Valicer Save update posts on Victor Luvs Alice; doing something in Sims 4 (I recently came across a new challenge, the Tiny Town Challenge, that has sparked my imagination, so I dunno if I'll be working more on my "Ministry of Joy" club build or maybe doing something with that); getting Chapter Two of "Start At The Beginning...Sort Of" up and posted; and maybe getting some stuff out of the Watch Later (maybe Petey's latest Super Sim episode, that'd be nice). We'll see how much I actually accomplish! Night all!
